Review & Install Video

Hey everybody, Dave with, and today I have the CDC rear deck lid panel. This deck lid panel is designed to fit all 05-09’s and it eliminates that fake gas cap you have back there. If you’re looking to bring some retro styling into your newer Mustang, and you’re not such a fan of the fake gas cap, the CDC deck lid panel is definitely the right choice for you. It’s a super easy install, in fact the hardest part of the install is going to be removing that fake emblem, being careful not to scratch the paint. Once you’ve taken that off, the already supplied 3M tape on the panel makes it easy to line it up. You simply clean it, line it up on your vehicle, stick it on and you’re done, 15 minutes at home. So if you want to bring that retro Mach 1 styling into your 05-09 Mustang, the CDC rear deck lid panel is definitely the right choice for you.

Heritage Styling. Now you can add the same aggressive retro styling of the Mach 1 Mustangs to your very own S197 Pony with a Classic Design Concepts Rear Decklid Panel. This CDC Decklid Trim Panel eliminates the hated faux gas cap emblem for a cleaner appearance.

Premium Quality. Molded from OEM quality high impact black plastic for it's long lasting durability, this Decklid Panel offers a perfect OEM fit and appearance with no painting required.

Easy Installation. No drilling or messy glues are needed for installation. This Rear Decklid Trim Panel installs easily with the supplied doubled sided 3M automotive bonding tape for a quick and simple installation.

Application. The CDC Mustang Rear Decklid Trim Panel fits perfectly on all 2005 to 2009 S197 Mustangs, including the V6, GT, Bullitt, and Shelby GT500 models.

    My new decklid

I love the look, the fake gas cap looks tacky to me, It really makes the tail lights stand out. I plan to black out the tail lights next.

    Great Inexpensive Purchase

I ordered the panel a couple days after Christmas and to my surprise, it arrived that same week. Installation was very easy, you have to use a heat gun or blow dryer to remove the factory gas cap emblem. After that, it was as simple as wiping down the product and the car with rubbing alcohol and removing the strips in the back and putting it on. And I will say, it looks killer. I have black exhaust tips from pypes and black mmd quarter window louvers and it fits in great. I will say though that it does make the trunk door significantly heavier

    Clean, Sleek, and High End

Installation was a breeze. The biggest hassle was removing all the gunk from the Faux gas cap. Use a heat gun and take your time. Peel it off slowly, or else you'll have gunk to clean off that back of the trunk and it doesn't come off easy. One issue I did encounter was with the backing to the tape. I pulled some of the tape backing off per the instructions prior to fitting the decklid panel to the car. As I fit the part on the car and started to pull the tape backing off, one of the pieces of tape ripped. There's only an inch or so still on the 3M tape, but still, it's annoying and impossible to get get off. I've tried everything from pliers to dentist's tools and can't get it. Oh well. Overall however, the part looks killer. It took me a while to get use to not having the faux gas cap on there (which I do really like), but the CDC decklid panel really makes the rear of your car look clean, sleek, and very high end. I think I'll pair this with a set of smoked Raxiom tail lights to finish off the look.

    CDC blackout panel

Great product from CDC gives the back end of your stang a very clean look. I was worried about the difficulty in taking the faux gas cap off but it was fairly simple. I took a paint scrapper and used the sharp edge to carefully stick between the cap and the double sided tape and it came off in about 2 minutes. Go slow so you dont scratch your paint. I left the tape from the cap to add some extra adhesive, lined up the panel and put it on. As always fast shipping from AM!

    another great item from CDC

I started to see some chrome blistering on the GT cap and I never really liked it anyway. I saw the picture Dan submitted and loved the look. It just took a few minutes to get the GT cap off and I left the old double side tape from the cap on. It was a bit of a pain to get the trunk lid to stay in the right spot, otherwise it was a snap to install.

    Awesome mod

I hated the gas cap on the back but was hesitating whether to buy the deck lid panel for my black mustang since I wasnt sure how it was going to look. I ended up buying it. It came with everything needed. I decided to have it painted UA black by a body shop for 70 bucks since I didnt like the texture black color of the decklid. After installing it I wasnt sure if I liked it or not.It ended up growing on me and I now love it. Looks so much better than the gas cap look. AM always comes through with everything they sell.

    Clean! Goodbye fake gas cap!

I had this item delivered to me in less that one week where I am in Canada! AM is always quick! The emblem was difficult to remove but I made it disappear with a heat gun and some "goo gone". I've had my ride since 2005. Once everything was cleared away I very simply stuck the decklid to the trunk and done! Thanks! Looks great! Brings life back to my '05 V6!

2 Months and It's already coming off

Put this on about 2 months ago and the tape is already coming off in the corners (I used alcohol to clean the decklid.) Also the color faded to like a darker gray instead of looking black like in the pictures. It was a breeze to install and fit nice but I probably wouldn't buy it again.

    Trunk Area Do Over

Had my 08 GT for about a month before I started subtle changes in appearance. All of the items I have purchased through AM have been First Rate and I forsee a lasting relationship budding. Back of my Stang has recieved the following mods (so far) 1 - Magnaflow axel back 2 - CDC rear deck lid trim panel 3 - Black Tail Light Trim 4 - CHASE LED taillight splice in When I get a few more dollars saved the next purchase will be the LED Third Brake Light and that should about wrap up the rear treatment.

    Clean and Elegant

I have a 06 Black GT Premium and while the factory badge emblem on the deck lid looked nice, I wanted it to look more elegant and this finished it up nicely. With gloss black staggered wheels (2010 GT Premium Wheels), smoked tail lights, vented concept hood, and black aluminum grill, - this is one clean, smooth, and elegant looking Mustang. Love it!

    Clean and sleek.

Put this on my \'Stang about 6 months ago. Installation of the panel was easy. Just line it up and stick it to the trunk. Most difficult thing was removing the rear badge and having to get all that black glue gunk off the paint. The ends of this panel have lifted about a millimeter, but it is still holding strong. All in all, I am definitely happy I bought this. Clean and sleek is the way I want my \'Stang to be and this panel helps me to accomplish that look.

    A Girl.
