Lower Grille + CDC Chin Spoiler? Will the lower billet grille work in conjunction with the CDC Chin Spoiler?

  • Yes, the CDC Chin Spoiler will work with the lower billet grille. AM actually combined the CDC Chin Spoiler and the lower billet grille on their Project Blackout 2012 GT and it looked great. You should have no problems!

    Great looking

The grills (I installed top and bottom) are finished well and not from light weight material. Top - Instructions are in Chin-English but you can make out what they mean. With the pony delete you WILL have to cut out the whole Pony mount area as the grill can't be installed with it there. You don't see the missing pony part of thr grill when all is installed again. Simple installation on a table or work bench (removal of the OEM off the car is required). Bottom - Really finishes off the air scoop and gives the car clean lines. Again the instructions are Chin-English. They are straight forward BUT the way to install this and make sure the mounts fit properly is do it with the OEM upper grill removed. I first tried installing this first and after about 20 minutes of getting no where moved to the top grill. With the top grill removed it takes

    Lower Grill

I bought this lower grill (black) to protect the supercharger radiator on my 2010 Mustang from stone damage. The grill is well made, it fits perfectly into the lower grill opening and it looks great. The method of installation, however, is atrocious. The grill attaches with two long screws that pass through holes in the grill and tread into J-hooks designed to hook onto the 'lips' of the side plastic walls inside the grill opening. I found it impossible to do this. There are two, cheap, spring clips (that will rust) that must be placed over the J-hooks for the long screws to thread into. This is hokey. The screws are not long enough to pass through the grill and start threading into the spring clips on the J-hooks and still catch the plastic edges. I had to duct-tape the J-hooks on the plastic lips and then try to start the screws. It still didn't work since the screws are just too short. I ended up attaching the J-hooks to the plastic edged on the upper side of the grill opening (closer to the front) but this is much less secure. Frankly, I do not trust the attachement screws not to vibrate lose while driving. I intend to remove the grill and modify the installation method. I will weld the J-hooks onto 316-SS threaded stock cut long enough to catch the plastic lip and protrude through the grill. I'll use small stainless Nylock nuts on the front of the grill to tighten the grill into the opening. American Muscle should really redesign the attachment method for this grill.

    This is my second lower

I bought the full set and loved it. Installation is a breeze with the Z hooks and screws and it looks fantastic. I get comments all the time about how great my new nose looks. However, I have a splitter style front fascia that rides low and forward, so I tend to scrape it a lot. After a particularly hard hit, I got about 60 miles down the road and the lower grille popped right out. So this time, I took extra precautions to keep it in place. Probably not a bad idea to keep an eye on it, even if you're not lowered.

    good look but fragile

the lower grill looks great installed, but the metal is weak and will bend if not handled gently.

    Great Improvement

As others have noted, the directions are useless, but installation is relatively easy. Here's a suggestion to save a lot of time and work: You do NOT have to remove the OEM grille to install the blackout grille by this method. First remove the plastic cover over the grille, under the hood, to access the rear of the grille. Then use a Dremel cutting tool to cut out the pony and it's plastic surround. This tool looks like a drill, but cuts sideways, and it is perfect for removing the pony and its "corral." Then it's easy to screw in the center grille, which covers the hole left by the missing pony. I did not even bother installing the two side pieces (outside the fog lights). The grille makes a vast improvement on the appearance of the front of the car. Total time: About an hour and a half.

once we found the proper way to install it was very easy.

the directions with this grill were very misleading. they should have been more to the point, once we found out how to install it was a piece of cake. my 2011 5,0 looks Great

Looks great but had issues with placement.

A couple of the screws were damaged when i received the parts. The bottom grill screws and brackets were not long enough to install correctly. Had to improvise to make the grill work correctly. It took about twice as long as it should have taken. Other than that it looks great!!!

Its work but worth it for the price.

The grilles overall quality is not the best but with a little extra time it was corrected. It looks good and is a great option if you want to keep the fog lights. (I put the dark CCFL halo fogs in and they look great with some raxiom headlights too) It took a couple hours of perfecting with the cutting and fabricating of the stock grille but it was well worth it. It had a great finish on it until installation. Ok now for the problems at least with the kit i received. The main grille piece was good but the 2 small pieces needed bent so that the bars were strait. The hardware you get is not very good. I had to lake it back out and repaint the screws cause they started rusting and left streaks down the grille. Also the screws and the holes in the grille were at an angle where you scratched the finish getting the screws in and there was no way around it. With all that said i still like the kit very much it just required some TLC.
