Description
Sleek 8" Design. Ditch that ugly 29” eyesore Ford calls an an antenna, and replace it with a sleek 8” Shorty black antenna available from AmericanMuscle. Without the skyscraping 29” stock antenna, your Mustang will look much cleaner and eye-catching, for all the right reasons.

Excellent Radio reception. There’s no difference in the quality of radio reception! All you’re losing is 21” of unsightly steel from the front of your car.

Designed to fit easily under a car cover. You will never have to worry about damaging your antenna or having to take it off every time you put your cover on. This low profile antenna will fit right under your car cover.

Quality Build and Finish. The antenna comes in a sleek satin-black finish that is both scratch and weather resistant. It includes brass fittings and is manufactured from high-grade steel. The antenna fits like an OEM part, but gives you that sporty aftermarket look.

Easy Install. Modding your car doesn't get any easier than this. Simply unscrew your old antenna and screw in the new one. It can be installed in under five minutes.

Application. This Black 8" Antenna is designed to fit all 1979 to 1993 Ford Mustangs including the LX, LX 5.0, GT, and SVT Cobra models.

Great appearance improvement

Couldn't be easier to install, just unscrew the old antenna (or should I say Mast) and screw in the new one. Looks much better than stock and the reception is the same or better. Buy it!

Shorty Antenna

Antenna looks great, prefer it over 14". But the 14" does get better reception. (I have both) I would say deal with loss of reception unless radio is all you listen to. 8" looks much better.

How is the reception with it being smaller?

  • Hi ErbStalk...I bought the 8" antena for my 2006 mustang and I don't notice any difference in reception! You should not suffer any reception loss either. Hope this helps you out!

Will this replace the stock antenna? I recently purchased a different short antenna from another web site and when the antenna came it had 4 different adapter screws for it and none of them had the correct threading to fit the base in my '09 GT. Getting the old antenna off is easy enough, but I want to make sure that if I get this one from American Muscle that it will screw in as easy as the factory one screwed out. Thank you.

  • Yes, old antenna screws out, new screws right in. No loss of reception that I've noticed. When you install, place a thin cloth or tissue between the adjustable wrench and the base of the antenna to avoid scratching the paint or scoring the base of the antenna. Tighten with slight pressure, not too much. Good product.

    A must have

The description when you buy says it all. Ditch the humongous antannae for one that is more subtle and performs just the same.

    Big improvement!

Compared to the fishing pole that comes with the stock car, this antenna looks great. I would recommend this to any Stang owner.

    Underlying Problem

Great "on the surface" but hides a dirty secret - the mounting screw is not weather resistant, so it rusts terribly, affecting reception and any hope of removing it for car washing, etc. Also breaks and bends fairly easily. I've given up after buying three.

    8-inch shorty antenna

Good product though it cuts back on radio reception a lot, still get all the local stations pretty good, also think it might be too small? 12 inch might have been a better option.

Much better than the stock whip

The reception has remained good, and I now have an extra fishing rod for my children.

Two down; time for something better

Purchased my 1st one and loved it, but it snapped off in the 1st car wash. I bought a replacement and I baby this one, but it is still quite easily bent and you don't dare straighten it for fear of it breaking. Worse, the connector has rusted out so badly that the radio reception is significantly degraded. The product is too stiff and the connector too cheap to be viable long term.
