Andrew Cilio The 1992 Mustang LX received new bodyside moldings and bumper rubstrips that were color coded, giving an enhanced appearance to the exterior. The engine for the LX remained an inline 4 cylinder, producing 105 HP due to an 8 plug cylinder head. Whitewall tires and wire wheel cover options were discontinued for all models. The ‘92 GT featured 5-spoke cast aluminum wheels with P225/55ZR Goodyear uni-directional Gatorbacks standard and P225/55ZR16 all-season performance tires optional. The ‘92 GT model received the lowest production numbers since 1983 due to slumping sales. The exterior of the V8 GT remained the same as the previous year, except for a minor metallic trim option available for the medium red paint job. The 5.0L GT was still powered by a H.O. 302 producing 225 HP. GT suspension came in the form of progressive rate springs, 1.3 inch front anti-sway bar, 0.83 inch rear anti-sway bar and gas pressurized struts with rear quadra-shocks.
