Justin from, we're here with Chris Thompson from Airaid. He stopped by the shop to tell us a little more about these great Airaid products. We're very familiar with Airaid; we use them on our project cars with great success. Chris, what can you tell us about Airaid that makes it so unique? "Everything we do is digitally designed. It's engineered to fit, it's engineered to work, it's engineered to work without any special tuning. Now, tuning is much, much better. You guys offer a lot of great choices in aftermarket tuning. It'll only enhance the performance of the Mustang. We design our intakes so there's no special gluing required, there's no cutting or hacking of the engine required. If somebody decided to put a stock intake back on, they don't have to go back to Ford to buy another part to put the piece back on. Every intake we do is digitally designed. It's all about the design of the airflow and the linear charge to the throttle body. We use the rotational molding not so much for the heat soaking, but for the shape of the tube we can come up with. By using the rotational molding, it allows us to really give the right shape and form to make sure the product works well." We're very excited—we've got our 2013 Mustang here, probably not even 10 miles on this thing yet, and we already have an Airaid intake on it. Tell us a little more about that. "This is awesome. We're really excited to be here today. This is the first Airaid intake on a 2013 Mustang. We're really excited to be here with you guys. As you can see it fits. We know for sure it fits. We believe we have a hit. We'll do a little bit more testing on it before we release it to the public, but that should happen anytime now." Now, you were telling me earlier, you're working with some legends in the Mustang world. "Well, we're excited about working with Parnelli Jones and his son PJ. Parnelli's been instrumental in helping us come along with the Boss 302 intakes we're trying to develop. Nobody knows the heritage of the Boss 302 better than Parnelli Jones. We worked with PJ on the side by side utility vehicles (Razors, Rhinos, and TRX's). We also sponsored him in the past on his endeavors in the American Le Mans Series, which he ran last year." Chris, thank you so much for educating us on your great Airaid products. And as always, you can find those great Airaid products right here at

Does this really work for a GAIN of HP/TQ or MPG? Before I or others spend $114 maybe you guys should make a video of the gains.

  • Yes you will see HP gains of about 5 and about 1 more mpg.

WIll this fit aftermarket BBK 65mm throttlebody? Is this worth puting on with a 65mm BBK throttlebody or will it choke the intake down and actually minimize the airflow coming in due to the fact that it was designed to work with a factory throttle body? I have a aftermaret cai as well, long tube headers, no cats, h- pipe, thrush open chamber mufflers and a 93 ocatane performance tune, demon coil, msd wires and iridium plugs. Also have no emissions, it's all disconnected, the dpr, dpv, and egr all turned off along with the egr blocked off and mil elliminators in the front o2 holes.

  • It would not be beneficial to use this spacer with any aftermarket throttle body for the exact reasoning you listed. This spacer is designed to mate with the stock throttle body bore size and will minimize the airflow if combined with a larger mm aftermarket replacement. I would stick with the set up you have currently! Hope this helps!

will this fit with SR Performance Cold Air Intake (99-04 V6)? Is there not enough room?

  • Hello, with this throttle spacer and an aftermarket intake you might have to trim or cut down the intake. The reasoning behind this is because the CAI is a certain length to be an exact fit to the throttle body. Because you are decreasing the length the CAI needs to travel to attach to the throttle body it might be too long and therefore a tight or improper fit.

Would I see a larger horsepower and torque gain out of this part than the slightly larger 65mm throttle body?

  • This will give you minimal gains. I would recommend purchasing the 65mm throttle body as that will give you the most gains.

I see that this Airaid Poweraid Throttle Body Spacer is for 99-01 v6 Mustangs, and i see a Customer's photo of a 2002 with this on it. Also if it does not fit, then why would a BBK throttle body fit from 01-04? The years don't seem to match up so it is hard to find a throttle body AND spacer for my 02. So can this fit on a 2002?

  • The Airaid Poweraid Throttle Body Spacer (99-01 V6) has confirmed fitment for 1999-2001 V6 Mustangs because it was designed to work with the Romeo motors. There are subtle changes from the Romeo and Windsor motors and the throttle body spacer is one that would require slight modification which is why we have fitment for only 1999-2001.

why wont this fit on a 2004 mustang v6?

  • The throttle body changed slightly between the 00-01 years. That is why this Spacer will not fit for 02-04.

    Fun Fun Fun

installation was fairly easy but where I had the most issues were with the intake, I have the SR performance intake and I will have to cut it, in order to drive it I needed to take off the heat shield. everything is a very tight fit. as soon as I turned the car on, I saw that I was idling way smoother and just perfect. I took the car for a spin and it has way more torque, especially at the lower rpms' Buy This. you will have to make little modification to your intake but its way worth the money.

"Whistle" semi annoying but increases are nice

Install took a lot longer then it should have as 2 of my studs did not want to come out and were stuck. After about 2 hours of getting the studs out, I was finally able to presume with the install. If you have a SR Cold Air Intake, you're going to have a tough time getting everything to fit. I had to do a little bit of finagling with the CAI but I eventually managed to get everything to fit. Finally, the "whistle". While I know the whistle is the sound of the spacer working, it can get somewhat annoying after a while. I know the whole point of a spacer is to spin the air to increase HP and MPG, if little things annoy you, the whistle may actually deter you away from this. It's been about 3 weeks now since I installed it. I'm getting used to the whistle more and more but it's still loud enough to get my attention every time. All in all, it's a great add-on and offers small HP and MPG gains at a low price.

    TB Spacer

I've had this Product for several Months. The first thing I've noticed is the slight gain in MPG -Nothing Over the top, but welcome nonetheless. The Second thing I noticed is the increased Low end Torque. Instead of pressing the Gas pedal and waiting for the car to actually respond, She kicks as soon as the pedal is pressed, which I'm very happy with. The whistling isn't as noticeable to me unless I'm driving down the freeway, and I'm not entirely sure why, but it's not something I'm deeply concerned about. A friend of mine helped me with the Install, which took roughly an hour using Basic Hand tools. I did not like the idea of hammering into my Cold Air Intake tube to make it fit, but it needed to be done for proper Intake alignment. The Bright Red color is appealing, and accents the polished aluminum on my CAI wonderfully. Looks great! I cannot compliment AM enough for their speedy shipping. Thanks AM

out to lunch still in it.

I have had this for about a month now, I havent seen the 1-4 miles per gallon improvement it talks about. I have even gotten lil less mileage because I have to press gas down more to get the same acceleration as before. and its not on backwards, I checked linkage and even checked for leaks and put gasket sealant on it two weeks later. the only thing i really knowtis is the whistle if i floor it and also it does rev up yo 5500 rpms now before shifting. My car has full exhaust header back, SteedaC AI, demon coils Msd wires.

The only way to see the mpg gains is to stay outta the pedal and don't floor it much at all. Those gains are based off normal, every day driving - something that can be difficult when you have a car to have fun in! I'd suggest trying to keep out of it as much as you can after your next fill up and see what gains you get from that!

    great cheap upgrade

I bought this product unfortunatly from air raids site a week before am obtained it but let me just say its awesome. Not only is the install simple but you feel and hear the difference. That whistle is awesome and the mpg gain shows. Be careful about after market intake kits though you may need to shift it around or get a longer hose from engine to intake. Other then that its fine. Note: you can use the stock hose its just a long reach and you need to man handle it a bit.

    Nice Product

The fit was pretty good, it matched my BBK throttle body perfectly and install was easy. Had to cut my CAI but knew I would have to before ordering. I have the cheap intake from AM I think it is ~ $70-100, intake was too long after adding one inch. Felt some power gain in the top end, not really in the bottom end. Nice whistle but not loud enough to hear over everything else.

This spacer is one H#%& of a product! I'm very happy that I took the chance, spent 115$ and purchased this part! Everything was very easy to install. My exhaust note is deeper and louder, especially on start-up. I haven't had this part long enough to verify the MPG gain, but in retrospect, I have yet to see my fuel needle move backwards, lol. I can feel a difference in torque, and a little difference in HP. Overall: AWESOME PRODUCT!!!!

Works great and looks that way too!

I ordered this product just as soon as it was a stock item at AM. It didn't take long to install at all maybe a hour and a half, the only issue you will have is that the hose will be to short to re-attach at least that is the case if you have anything but the factory throttle body, other wise great fit and a great product. I noticed the difference in the responce the second I got in it after the install. There used to be a little lag in throttle responce but now that is gone. The wistle is a little hard to hear due to the headers and true dual exhaust. i did notice a slight gain in HP and fuel economy as well. Over a great product with great looks as well.

    Just What the Pony Needed

I purchased this from AM and received it quickly via UPS in about 4 days with no problem. After installation, which only took about 45 minutes, I could notice a slight power gain. I also noticed the "whistle," which occurred around 5600 RPM's. As for gas mileage, I have not noticed any gains, but I haven't noticed any loss either. Overall, I would definitely recommend this spacer to anyone who is looking to mod their pony's V6 or V8. Thanks AM for yet another affordable and awesome product.

Its a awesome little product. Money for it was worth it but i think over prised. I saw 2 mpg better even full throttaling it all day. Just note, if you have a cool air intake, you will have to modify the intake tubes. But this with a cool air intake and bama tune, makes it a great product.
