Justin from AmericanMuscle.com, we're here with Chris Thompson from Airaid. He stopped by the shop to tell us a little more about these great Airaid products. We're very familiar with Airaid; we use them on our project cars with great success. Chris, what can you tell us about Airaid that makes it so unique? "Everything we do is digitally designed. It's engineered to fit, it's engineered to work, it's engineered to work without any special tuning. Now, tuning is much, much better. You guys offer a lot of great choices in aftermarket tuning. It'll only enhance the performance of the Mustang. We design our intakes so there's no special gluing required, there's no cutting or hacking of the engine required. If somebody decided to put a stock intake back on, they don't have to go back to Ford to buy another part to put the piece back on. Every intake we do is digitally designed. It's all about the design of the airflow and the linear charge to the throttle body. We use the rotational molding not so much for the heat soaking, but for the shape of the tube we can come up with. By using the rotational molding, it allows us to really give the right shape and form to make sure the product works well." We're very excited—we've got our 2013 Mustang here, probably not even 10 miles on this thing yet, and we already have an Airaid intake on it. Tell us a little more about that. "This is awesome. We're really excited to be here today. This is the first Airaid intake on a 2013 Mustang. We're really excited to be here with you guys. As you can see it fits. We know for sure it fits. We believe we have a hit. We'll do a little bit more testing on it before we release it to the public, but that should happen anytime now." Now, you were telling me earlier, you're working with some legends in the Mustang world. "Well, we're excited about working with Parnelli Jones and his son PJ. Parnelli's been instrumental in helping us come along with the Boss 302 intakes we're trying to develop. Nobody knows the heritage of the Boss 302 better than Parnelli Jones. We worked with PJ on the side by side utility vehicles (Razors, Rhinos, and TRX's). We also sponsored him in the past on his endeavors in the American Le Mans Series, which he ran last year." Chris, thank you so much for educating us on your great Airaid products. And as always, you can find those great Airaid products right here at AmericanMuscle.com.

More Power, Better Throttle Response. This easy to bolt-on PowerAid spacer from Airaid was developed to improve throttle response and to unleash the hidden low to mid range torque from your Mustang's engine, with tremendous torque gains seen between 800 to 2500 RPM.

Improve Fuel Economy. The Airaid Poweraid Throttle Body Spacer not only improves the power and performance of your Mustang, but with its unique “Helix Bore” design it also maximizes fuel efficiency saving you money at the gas pump. The Helix Bore creates a spinning action to the incoming air to provide superior atomization of the air fuel mixture for better combustion.

Billet Aluminum Construction. CNC machined from the highest quality aircraft grade 6061-T6 billet aluminum the Airaid Poweraid Throttle Body Spacer is anodized in a red finish for great under styling and includes all the necessary hardware and instructions for a simple straightforward installation.

CARB Certified. Best of all this Airaid Throttle Body Spacer is 50-state smog legal under Carb EO# D-609-3.

Application. The Airaid Poweraid Throttle Body Spacer is designed to fit 1999 to 2004 4.6L GT Mustangs with a factory throttle body still installed.

how much of a power gain will this spacer give a stock 4.6L ?

teflondave

  • Spacers vary on the application, the claim to fame is circling air compresses better this more air=more power. throttle body give a neat little whistle when you push the throttle, but as far as power it will be minimal, max 8-10 hp, one thing to be happy about i have seen on more than one occasion 1-3 MPG increase, so all in all that can pay for itself over time

will this spacer fit with an accufab 75mm throttle body ?

primo

  • This throttle body spacer is intended to be used with the stock throttle body only. It complements the stock bore (mm) sizing. An aftermarket throttle body would have a larger bore size, the Accufab being 75mm for example, and the spacer would actually decrease potential power gains! If you have the upgraded throttle body, you wouldn't need this spacer.

i have installed a 73mm throttle intake and took out factory 56mmintake from my 2003 mustang gt will it work with it or no? if not do you sell one that will work with the 73mm throttle intake?

03GT

  • Unfortunately, the Airaid Poweraid Throttle Body Spacer is intended and designed to work with the factory 65mm throttle body meaning this will not work with the upgraded throttle body you currently have installed.

I know it says 99 to 04 but will it fit 96

jiver78

  • This unfortunately not fit in a 1996 Mustang as the throttle body spacer is located in a different place on the 1994-1998 models.

    Sound

Install was very easy just follow the instructions carefully and you should have zero issues. The sound is by far the best part of this product. I absolutely love the sound but there are no noticeable changes in power, slight change in throttle response. All in all for sure buy this product it is well worth it. I did come into one issue was one of the hoses connecting to my intake became to short after the spacer went in. A little tape made it to auto shop where they didn't charge me for the hose.

    Impressed

I had hard time trying to decide whether to get it or not bcuz reviews on this are very mixed. But together with the airaid cai i believe they are a very nice mod and youll definitely gain some hp, especially in the lower rpm. So if you thinking bout getting one i would recommend you do.

Easy to install, well made, last forever.

It was very easy to install, it was very well made, it will last forever, I like the red aluminum color of the product, looks very good as a low cost modification. I would recommend this product to other muscle car owners.

    Sounds Good

Easy to install and looks good. Throttle response is a little quicker and you can hear the air whistle every time your on the throttle. I really like it but understand this is a constent whistling, the only time you dont hear it is when your not on the gas.

    Not bad for the price.

This was a real simple install. Took me and my buddy a bottle and a half of beer. Has a sweat sound that is worth the price alone. Little better low end pull. Haven't really noticed any MPG increases but my right foot has been in it to hear that sweet whistle. For the price you can't go wrong. A heads up to you guys with a strut tower brace and an JLT intake. I had to trim the rubber pipe adapter that stems off the TB about an inch. The intake pipe just had to come over a bit to clear the bar. BUT IT WILL FIT!

    BA BAY BAY (baby) SUPERCHARGER

The look of the TB spacer is great and fits the style of my Mustang. I was surprised by how thick the spacer is, and i feel its a well made product. The fitment was excellent. I could of put this part on with my eyes closed. As for the instructions they were poor. I just looked at the paper, threw it down and got to work. I've seen some videos and photos of people putting the spacer on backwards. So, here's a tip one side is engraved with the letters and word "TB SIDE" this side is to be facing away from the engine. The performance gain if any can not be felt. This is one of those products that only show on paper (DYNO). I have not tested to see if there's a MPG gain, but I strongly believe it dose in fact have a small gain. Bang for your buck? Well, lets just say that this product is going to take more than a few tanks of gas to put a buck ten back in your pocket. Last but not least the sound of music. I'm infatuated with the sound this spacer makes. I wish the spacer constantly whistled, but it only sings when you give it a good amount of gas. Get this spacer if you want your car to sound great.

    airraid poweraide/sr intake spacer.....

I ordered the airaid as well as a sr intake spacer...installation is fairly simple just takes a little patience...I was pleasantly surprised with the throttle response, mash the gas and it responded without hesitation...for an investment of $150 for both spacers my car picked a decent amount of power...and the whistle sound is cool too!!! nice job American Muscle.........

Love the sound!!! Originally preferred the Throttle body/plenum combo, but for the price/gain ratio, this was more bang for my bux. Install was easy and you can hear the spacer working.

    GAS SAVER!!!

I bought this and a SR cold air intake and installed them at the same time. I read a lot of reviews online with people saying that the poweraid is just a paperweight or a noise maker.... I definitely disagree, I'm not saying I actually felt a performance gain between the two but I did notice not having to push the pedal quite so hard to go up hill... I mostly got this and the CAI to try and compensate mpg for the 3.73 gears which actually does have a performance gain. I'm still getting on average 23...ish mixed mpg so I am definitely happy. Overall I would recommend the Airaid Poweraid throttle body spacer, and it does have a noticeable whistle at first but now I don't even pay attention to it(kind of like a koo koo clock)..

    Very nice addition

Easy install...nice fitment...moderate power gain...very nice sound! I love the look under the hood. I added this to my SR CAI to make for a nice throttle response and power gain for the price. I am not mechanically inclined, however this was an easy addition. I later added the SR plenum spacer see my review there.
