Easy install + peace of mind

So we knocked this install out in about 90 mins, two people with 2 jack stands and 2 jacks just from one side of the car.. The only difficulty doing it this way is you must lower the car and roll it slightly ...

will this support the removal of a governor/speed limiter with a tune? i read on the bama sct tuner questions that if you remove the speed limiter with a tune, that you'll need to upgrade the driveshaft. Will this support it?

8.8 in rear end? If I purchase a full 8.8in rear end, can I use this driveshaft with it or will I need to get the one for GTs?

  • You would need to get a GT driveshaft as this one is made for a 7.5 rear end.

Clearance on lowered cars? I am lowered with the Steeda Ultra Lite springs; front 1.25", back 1.5". Will this 4" drive shaft cause clearance issues on speed bumps or other typical daily driving conditions versus a 3.5" driveshaft? My exhaust is the Magnaflow part # 16605, if that makes a difference.

  • No it won't, your exhaust + rear end housing sits significantly lower than the driveshaft.. I have an '05 with 1.5" lowering on eibach, also the magnaflow exhaust.. My buddy and I installed the new driveshaft in just over an hour in my garage using jack stands.

    i have looked all over for a 1 piece aluminum drive shaft for my 2010 V6 4.0 and i couldnt find one. finally i found this one and believe me its worth it. the quality was amazing. got it literaly the nxt day. this driveshaft gives me quicker acceleration that i can feel and it got rid of the annoying clunking noise when puting my car into gear and when shifting gears. took about 2 hours to install and everything bolted right up. thanks AM !!

    Easy install + peace of mind

    So we knocked this install out in about 90 mins, two people with 2 jack stands and 2 jacks just from one side of the car.. The only difficulty doing it this way is you must lower the car and roll it slightly forward then raise it back up to get to the top bolt. The nice part, no exhaust removal necessary! The design is great, strong, and real clean looking. I do notice a better response time, and no more "clunking" when shifting from drive to reverse. I added this to shed some weight and wanted a stronger shaft to accommodate the extra power of the recent supercharger add-on.

    DEFINITELY WORTH IT!!

    Uninstalled the old heavy driveshaft in the morning and installed the aluminum piece when the UPS guy arrived in the afternoon. Install is easy; one person can install it if you have the patience and strength. Simple hand tools such as a ratchet wrench, a portable propane torch (heat to help remove bolts), hammer (tap near the bolts to loosen them), and Loctite thread locker (for reinstalling the bolts) is pretty much all you need. I couldn't use my impact gun cause of clearance issues. I had to disconnect the exhaust x-pipe to remove the old driveshaft and install the new driveshaft as well. After installation I didn't notice much doing spirited driving. It's probably cause of my other mods plus the 93-octane race tune. However, when I'm at wide open throttle, you can truly feel the HP and torque that has been freed up due to this driveshaft and it kept a geeky smile on my face every time I'm on the throttle. I love it! Things that I also noticed after installation: Shifting is smoother and annoying clunking or whining noise disappears. I highly recommend this product; it's a great upgrade that increases performance and reliability.

    Amazing Improvement

    This is a must have part for anyone running an 05-09 V-6! It was a fairly straight forward install, but I would like to point out to anyone running a full flowmaster system (i.e. the Force II Cat-back) you will have to unbolt the mufflers and the rear support in order to drop the exhaust down far enough to install this. It is much thicker than the stock driveshaft, but I don't have any clearance issues and mine is lowered in SR Performance springs, Tokico Shocks/Dampers and I have the Flowmaster Force II Cat-back exhaust system with long tubes and no cats. Serious upgrade in acceleration and response.

    All in fun

    I put a 2011 8.8 rear end with 4.11 gears and made the tranny hum come to find out the original drive shaft was unbalanced so I went with the aluminum drive shaft. It was lighter, balanced and know more tork to the rear wheels. very happy with this product
