Hey, guys, I'm Justin with americanmuscle.com, and this is gonna be my detailed breakdown and install of AWE's Touring Axle-Back Exhaust System with the chrome tips, available for your 2015 and newer EcoBoost-powered Mustang. The AWE Touring Axle-Back should appeal to any EcoBoost owner out there looking to grab a premium system that will provide plenty of volume even with that factory resonator still in place and at the same time will be pretty quiet inside the car.Prospective buyers can look forward to premium 304 grade stainless steel throughout, including AWE's patented resonators here loaded with their 180 Technology, which will be key in cancelling out that annoying drone on the highway. As far as your installation is concerned, well, there is some cutting involved here much like any other axle-back, so we will knock this one up to a two out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter with more detail later on. But let's address that EcoBoost sound head on, because if I've learned anything about the EcoBoost platform and its owners over the years, it's that some people enjoy modifying their exhausts and hearing lots of it, and others simply do not with some space in between, of course. In fact, I'm like you guys, I know the EcoBoost isn't for its sexiest sounding platform ever. However, given the right system, it can sound pretty good. And, in my opinion, the AWE system is one of those options. But honestly, guys, exhaust opinions are totally subjective, right? So my opinion might be a little bit different from yours, and that's perfectly okay. But what I can tell you about the touring system here is that I got a very Focus RS vibe from this thing once it was installed, and obviously that's no secret or surprise seeing as though they both share the same engine platform. However, I really like what Ford did with the Focus RS exhaust system. They gave the car a little bit more of an attitude but without sounding like a fart can, and I got that same kind of vibe here from the AWE axle-back. And, yes, you are getting a nice little increase in sound over the factory system, but it's certainly not over the top again. It's definitely not raspy, so going on my wake the neighbors scale, I have the Touring coming in at a relatively soft three out of five on my one to five or one to wake the neighbors scale. You are getting some of those pops in between shifts or on revs. You're hearing a little bit more turbo noise as well, but overall I would categorize this as a very smooth-sounding, deep tone system. Inside the car, things were very quiet thanks largely in part to AWE's patented technology they call their 180 Tech, and this is proprietary to the brand. Now, what happens with this is basically they include a few ports within the muffler or resonator itself that is able to isolate and kinda cancel out those unwanted frequencies better known as drones to you guys. And I'm happy to say that while cruising with our EcoBoost-powered Mustang, which is an automatic by the way, I really didn't experience any unwanted interior drone. But let's get into the quality and construction a little bit more here with the AWE system, because, in my opinion, gang, that's gonna be one of the highlights when shopping for an AWE system. And I know the truth is a lot of you guys probably aren't fully up to speed yet with AWE, because honestly this is their first introduction into the domestic market. With that being said, this isn't their first rodeo when it comes to exhaust systems in general. In fact, they've been making some really high-end stuff for over 25 years now mainly for the European car market, and I've been very impressed so far with all of their S550 offerings. But diving deeper into the construction and build again, very nice stuff all around, guys. That is the name of the game here at AWE. Two and half inch mandrel bent tubing, everything, by the way, 304 grade stainless steel, and everything is made here in the States. Beautiful welds throughout here, you can't help but notice those, including their AWE resonators. Yes, they prefer to call these things resonators. They don't like calling them mufflers, and they are loaded with that 180 Tech we already talked about. Finally, guys, everything will exit out the dual four-inch tips here, slash cut, double wall chrome, of course. You can grab what they call a black diamond tip for about another $50 extra if that's the look you prefer. And, yes, you do eventually end up paying for that quality, but not as much as other options in the category. In fact, with the chrome tips, you're looking at just north of $700, which does put this in a very crowded category or price point rather. Magnaflow, Kooks, Borla, things like that, you're gonna be right in that same range but still considerably less than $1,000 plus that you would otherwise spend on a Corsa system.Well, let's switch gears and talk about the installation here, and as I pointed out at the very top of this video, guys, yes, there is the smallest amount of cutting needed to get this system in place, but there's really no getting around that with any S550 axle-back. So I do knock it up to a two out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter, a soft two with that, and maybe an hour or two from start to finish before you get everything in place. As far as your tool list, well, basic stuff, right? I mean, a socket set is really all you need here. In addition, of course, to that cutting tool, I personally like to recommend a Sawzall with a fresh metal blade and some eye protection, because that always gets the job done for me. And your first step with any installation should be referencing those included instructions, and that is the case, of course, here as well, as AWE does lay out very clearly where and how you need to cut. So just make sure you measure twice, cut once that whole deal. I personally always like using a little Painter's Tape around the tubing there just to make sure I'm doing a nice straight and even cut with my Sawzall. Now, once you do make your cuts, you can get those factory axle-back hands out of the way and get to work installing the new Touring system in their place. To do so, just use the included clamps here, tighten everything down, including the tips, and your installation is complete. So if you're looking for a deep-sounding premium axle-back with no drone for your EcoBoost-powered Mustang, the AWE Touring certainly won't let you down, and you can grab one right here at americanmuscle.com.
