Description
More Horsepower And Torque. Replace that restrictive stock factory intake and throttle body with a BBK Performance Cold Air Intake and Throttle Body Combo Kit from AmericanMuscle for more horsepower and torque. This BBK combo kit will greatly improve your engines incoming airflow path to produce more useable power and to increase throttle response.

No Tune Required. Unlike other Throttle Body and Cold Air Intake Combos on the market today for the Ford Mustang this BBK Combo Kit does not require a computer re-tune. The engineers at BBK Performance really did their homework to improve your Pony's power using the stock factory tune.

78MM Bore. Your GT's stock throttle body is a restrictive 56mm, choking off airflow and keeping your Mustang from giving you everything it has. But the BBK Performance throttle body features a generous, free flowing 78mm single bore design for significantly more air to feed the fire under your hood.

Reusable Filter. BBK designed their Cold Air Intakes with a reusable high flow cotton air filter. So no there is no need to go out and buy a new filter every few thousand miles. Just clean the filter, re-oil it, save money, and go!

Easy Bolt-On Installation. This BBK Intake Combo Kit is designed to be a straight forward install with just basic hand tools. No extra modifications or special tools are required for a simple 2 hour installation.

Application. This BBK Performance 78mm Throttle Body and Cold Air Intake Combo Kit is specifically designed to fit the 1996 to 2004 GT Mustangs equipped with the SOHC 4.6L V8 engine.

CARB Certified. Best of all this BBK Mustang Cold Air Intake Kit is 50-state smog legal under Carb EO# D-245-14.Please Note. A 78mm throttle body works great on a heavily modified or supercharged GT mustang, because stock or mildly modified GT's do not flow air enough to benefit from the larger Throttle Body.

Air Intake Velocity So my exhaust is basically wide open with o/r x-pipes, glass packs, no catalytics for now and only thing still stock is the headers. I want to get these two items but have heard that you need to be careful opening up the intake and exhaust too much becasue of velocity of the air coming in and it actually loses power. Is that something to actually worry about here or will I still see improvements? Thanks a lot!

my question is will the 78MM be bad for my car? i noticed in the description it says please note that the 78 MM throttle body is for supercharged or heavily modded stangs.. on my 02 GT with 70k miles only performance mods i have are this same BBK kit as well as bbk underdrive pulleys currently installed, soon i will add more performance parts but for now is it bad on my car having the 78MM?? soon i will look to add a full exhaust system (headers, midpipe, catback) also 4.10 gears w/bama tuner combo kit.. thanks.

  • I installed a 78mm on my 2004 mustang gt several months ago. Any noticeable performance improvement? Yes, noticeably quicker throttle response and much louder huffing sound of air coming in. Any noticeable problems or damage or lowered mpg or power? Nope, none. Would i do it again? If someone up and stole my bbk 78mm plenum would i replace it? Definitely yes! That loud huffing sound when i trounce down on the pedal is priceless.

    Great Combo, Nice Fit

Really nice looks, sounds amazing, great package. The air filter was the only pain, having to go under the car. Other than that, everything was easy, only time consuming part was watching the video of how to do it then assembling it.

BBK CAI and 78mm Intake Throttle Intake Combo

This product was recommended as "the best" of several availalbe by my mechanic. He had no problems and said the was an very easy. As soon as I pulled out of the lot the pick up was noticable the first time I pressed the gas. I would strongly reccomend anyone considering a CAI system couple it with the throttle box at the time of installation. Should I ever get a third mustang, this will be the first thing I have done to the vehicle.

    BBK throttle and CAI

First off, WOW what a great product! I can feel that the car has much better throttle response, and the car to me just seems to run better! If you're looking for a CAI, look no farther and go with the BBK. And if you're also looking for a newer, bigger throttle body then look no more the product you need is this one. I did run into two minor problems though. First one was that I had to buy a new TPS sensor, but only because I could not get the screw loose on my stock throttle body, and instead of taking the risk of stripping the head off the screw I just left it on .. and this way if for any reason I need to go back to the stock set up, that sensor will already be on there. Problem number two was that the hose going to the idle air control valve was to short, and barely fit on the CAI. But I just went to auto zone and bought some 3/4'' heater hose and cut to length, and that solved that. I am a very pleased customer! and had a great time installing this on my stang! It was a very easy install! TYVM AM!!!!
