How to Install a BBK Off-Road X-Pipe on your 1996-1998 Mustang GT

Installation Time

2 hours

Installation

Step 1 Place all four corners of the vehicle on jackstands or use a drive on lift.

! CAUTION!

Use extreme caution under vehicle

Step 2 Next disconnect the negative battery cable.

Step 3 To remove the factory mid-pipe: first remove the oxygen sensors using a 22mm wrench. Then take off the header flange nuts at the collectors then disconnect the air tube from the H-pipe. (In some instances cutting may be necessary.) Next disconnect the mufflers from the mid-pipe. Lubricate the H-pipe hangers with WO-40 or equivalent and slide back to remove.*

Step 4 For installation simply reverse the previous steps, making sure to reconnect the air tube to the connector tube located on the new BBK mid-pipe.

Do not plug ott the air line from the air pump. Air pump damage and premature catalytic converter damage will occur.

Step 5 Using the supplied muffler style clamp, install over the mid-pipe crossover tube and tighten to avoid any leaks - this part can also be welded to avoid any exhaust leaks.

*1994 and newer models are equipped with a bolt-on hanger system rather than the steel slide style used on the 1986-93 models. To remove simply unbolt the H-pipe from the hanger mount.
