Description
Increases Overall Performance. Add even more horsepower and torque to the rear wheels by eliminating those power robbing catalytic converters with a BBK Off-road X pipe. A BBK X pipe will greatly improve your pony's exhaust flow to increase overall performance and sound.

Race Car Growl. A free flowing BBK x-pipe not only increases power, but it also adds a crisp raspy, race car growl to the sound of your exhaust with its modern "X" crossover pipe design.

Durable BBK Construction. This BBK direct replacement X-pipe features 2.5” diameter CNC mandrel bent aluminized tubing and a merged X crossover to improve exhaust flow. Additional features include factory O2 sensor locations, and OEM style die-stamped flanges all to ensure a perfect fit.

Application. Specifically designed to fit the 1999 to 2004 4.6L Mustangs, including the GT, Bullitt, Mach 1 and SVT Cobra. This Off-Road X-pipe is a direct fit replacement for the stock mid pipe.

Technical Note. This BBK product is not legal for use in emission restrictive states.

Easy to install with the 3-piece design. Sound is great combined with the Borla Stinger S-type exhaust!

X-Pipe freed up some ponies.

Great addition to increase flow in the exhaust system. I have it hooked to a Flow Master exhaust and together with the BBK Throttle Body and CAI / Bama Tuner it was a good bang for my buck purchase.

can this be used as shorty x-pipe later on ? my current exhaust setup is stock headers and stock h-pipe paired with flowmasters. I've been thinking about getting this x-pipe for a long time but my only concern is that at some point later on, i will be getting bbk long tubes (money willing) and I'm not sure if i can then just simply remove the 2 extension arms that connect the X figure in the pipe to the factory headers and re-use the x-pipe (which would technically be bbk's shorty x-pipe) with my long tube headers ? I looked at both bbk's shorty and normal x-pipes and the only difference i could find was the 2 extension pipes (how ever i could be wrong).

  • Unfortunately not. The tubing lengths on this off-road mid-pipe are not the same as the shorty mid-pipe and therefore, they can not be interchanged. If you switch from stock headers to the long tubes later on, you will need to purchase the shorty mid-pipe at the same time for proper fitment.

Will this fit slp long tube headers if i got a automatic transmission?

  • This x-pipe will only bolt up to stock manifolds or shorty headers. To install Long Tube headers, they would require the use of a shorty style mid-pipe to compensate for the longer length of the headers.

    Disaster

    Absolutely terrible. Do not buy this product unless you are looking for a big headache. I thought this would be a one day job because the description says it will bolt right up to the stock manifold, wrong. This project has turned into a 3 week process as I can only work on it on weekends. Reason why you shouldn’t buy this number 1, the driver side flange that comes on this BBK x pipe does NOT seal. Poor design is the problem here, the flange literally tightens down before the pipe does, which leaves the pipe not sealed and loose. To fix this problem I had to buy a separate flange that lined up with the manifold studs. Then cut it and weld it around the BBK x pipe so that it would do what a flange is supposed to do, seal the pipe. My next problem was with the connection between the x pipe and the mufflers. The ends of the x pipe were almost exactly the same as my mufflers. To get them to seal properly I had to angle the pipe upwards which didn’t allow me to tighten down the manifold ends correctly. This created a mismatch between the manifold portion and the muffler portion of the x pipe and put a ton of stress on the clamp that BBK provides. I didn’t feel comfortable leaving the pipe the way it was because I just couldn’t get enough meat on both ends of the clamp to tighten it down completely and seal up the huge leak it was causing. So I went to a muffler shop and had them weld the clamp to both ends of the x pipe. Finally once I got the pipe on and I started it up ready to hear that awesome sound all x pipes should make, let’s just say it was very disappointing. Yes, it was louder and the tone it make in idle is ok. However, after taking out for a spin I quickly changed my mind. The x pipe makes a very awful sound when shifting. Basically, when decelerating from 3 or higher rpms it sounds bad. Poor design, poor sound, and way too much time involved is why I gave this x pipe the review I did. Do Not Buy.

    Sounds good

    Put this x-pipe on my 01 cobra and man did it make a difference!! Sounds like a true Cobra now. Cruise at 2100rpm and its just right. Change gears around 4000rpm and u will turn some heads!!! just music to my ears!

    BBK X-pipe

    Love the x-pipe along with my Magnaflow catback. my GT sounds like a BEAST now. good power gains too!! This product will turn heads, buy it today u wont regret it!!

    Great

    Really easy to install. BBK always makes great products. It really opens up the car with my bbk cai, 78mm tb, roush side exit pipes and a bama custom tube. This is what mustang should sound like. Had to get new o2 sensours for the frount, the rear ones are turned off with the tune so no need for mil eliminators.

    Raspy and Angry

    Gives the Mach a very raspy and angry sound, true race car sound. A little to much rattle and tin can sounding for my taste.

    Good for the money

    Installation of this product is easy, the removal of the stock mid-pipe is what can be tricky. I was unable to get enough torque and leverage on the ratchet with the swiveling ratchet on the passenger side using the method as shown in the instructions, so i dropped the starter in order to get better angle, leverage, etc. After that, istallation was easy, bolted right up and fit well with my aftermarket SLP exhaust, also much easier to tighten and loosen the bolts at the manifolds on the new mid-pipe as their are now no cats or pre-cats to work around. For 2004 GT models you will need 02 extensions as well as the MIL eliminators if you don't want to trigger any codes. Noticable changes in sound, moderate gains in performance.

    turns heads

    i put this o/r x pipe on my mach 1 with the flowmaster american thunder catback, i had a cobra owner chase me down the street on foot to find out what exhaust i had. nuff said. you will get attention with this, and who doesnt like that?
