Marvelous

This minor upgrade looks GREAT when done! ...its a booger to get the headlight knob off, and to soldier the power leads, but worth the work.

Is there any way to change the glow color? I am trying to go with a soft white interior. HIDs are 6000k white, most bulbs have been replaced with LEDs. The only thing missing is my gauges. I basically want the reverse glow to be white and then I can change my Head Unit color to match it.

Foreverinpanama

  • Im sorry, but i dont think there is. it has LED inlay that is blue, i guess (it would be more trouble than its worth) that you COULD possibly take the strips out and replace with a different color. You would probably have better luck wiring in resistors and led bulbs to your factory set. Or you could replace your factory incandesent bulbs with white?

  • looks great during the day and night. at night the MPH glows blue, looks JUST like the air conditioner blue around the AC knob, and the KPH glows red, just like the red around the heater knob. looks like it belongs in the car. .. MUCH better than green.

    Awesome Product !!!!!!

First Of All I Like The Gauges! Shipping Was Fast. The Installation Instructions Was Way Off, For Most Please Have Tools And Take Ur Time, I Used A Soldering Gun,Wire Cutters,Adhesive Glue,Cordless Drill,Electric Tape,Torx Tool (T-15). It Took Me Bout 1hour and Half To Finsh Up, Instead Of Using The Big (Gray Wire) Or Brown Wire I Connect the Red Wire To The Blue And White One Behind The Dimmer Switch On Your Mustang.Get Rid Of Dimmer Switch That Came With It, Take Those Two Wires Connect Them Together. Than I Connect The Mostly Black (Some Red) To Ground, I Drill And Tap To Metal Plate Next To The Control Unit on The Left, Or You Can Use The Bolts. "Bam" It Lit Up, But Go Easy Cutting Wires Its Real Thin.Placing the Faces On Is Very Simple But Use Some Adhesive To Make it Stay.. It's Really Not as Hard As It Seems When It's All Layed Out... Good Luck!!! Great Product For The Buck!!!!!!!!

Looks good but needs better wiring

Looks great now that all the electrical issues are taken care of. Install was quick and easy, the directions are all that are needed to install these. But I ran in to a few issues with the wiring. The very small wires that hook up to the dial were very fragile and broke on me twice on install. So i had to remove some of the surrounding and re-solder the connections. Now that I have had it in the car for a month the dial is very touchy and if I hit to big of a bump the lights will flicker. One of these days when it warmer I will switch out the dial for a new higher quality one and see if that fixes it.

    Looks great, but...

What a difference these make in the appearance of the gauges, especially at night. I don't think the photos do them justice. However, there is one drawback. The wires from the inverter that connect for power and grounding are way too thin. They are hard to work with, and are fragile. Made them work, but would be a lot easier with a heavier gauge.

Black face reverse glow gauge insert

Great product! Install was pretty easy and required a little wiring but it wasn't too hard to figure out. Black face looks nice with the rest of the interior of the car. Definitely recommended.

    Gauge mod

A great mod in my opinion. Work as advertised and instillation was pretty straight forward. Used a small amount of adhesive to fasten to existing gauges. Overall great mod for the money.

First set burned out within 30 seconds of initial lights on, american muscle replaced them with lightning speed and second set works flawlessly and looks awesome with blue led back lights. I highly recommend this product, the price is great and quality and appearance is great and install is simple.

    good with flaws

first if you cant wire don't try this. two problems, first problem if you don't have the inserts perfectly flat the needle will bind and stick and you'll have to start over. second i wired mine directly into the light switch, don't ask how but the dim for the inserts is opposite of the radio and original gauge lights. the dimmer only has two terminals positive and to the light, if you have an answer i'd like to know. but other than that its a good way to add a little extra to your car.

    So many problems...

Ok, first off the instructions are horrible and if you depend on them it will take you all day like it took me. The power and ground wire are to small as everyone else stated. You can also not wire it up as the instructions say because I couldn't find the black wire they were referring to, and when I did finally find a ground the lights did not work. I tried every ground in the car with the same results. I am very disappointed with this product and I'm starting to loose my faith in American Muscle through my last couple of purchases, which is not good because I counted on them to help build my mustang. To sum all this up, I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT.

    Looks Cheap

I bought these inserts thinking that they would greatly improve the look of my car. However, after the installation the gauges looked cheap, and did not light up properly. Even after fiddling with the wiring to try to ensure that everything was connected properly having a separate potentiometer meant that every time I hit a bump the lights would flicker or go out. I removed the separate potentiometer and hard wired the lights and still had issues with buzzing or low light. Unfortunately I will be returning these inserts and looking for a better alternative.

Had a hard time deciding between the white or the black so finally i chose the black because my car is all blacked out. For the price you cant go wrong with this. Installation was a bit tricky but other than that im very happy with it.
