I own a 2001 v6 manual mustang and my gauge cluster lights won't turn on (I'm thinking it's going to to be the fuse). Do I have to fix the fuse in order for the reverse glow to work ? And will have instructions on how to connect it ?

Oso001

  • Yes, you will need to fix the fuse if that is the issue. These inserts run off the same power line as the stock gauges, so if they aren't lighting up, these won't either. If you are referring to instructions on how to install these inserts, yes. American Muscle has some on the website.

My gauge needles on my MPH gauge seem to stick sometimes. How do I prevent them from doing this?

Steve

  • I would try to readjust the insert because the needle may be getting caught. If that does not work, try taking it out and seeing if the needle moves without the insert installed. If it still does not move, there could be a bad connection with that needle.

    Mustang Cluster Lights

I was kind of anxious purchasing this product as I was not sure it was going to be the best thing to install in my awesome mustang. But after ordering it, I was surprised to see how awesome it looked and how it was very helpful when driving as the lights were not as big of a distraction as it looked.

    Looks so Good!!

First off this product is one of the best interior mods you can make to your car. After seeing it on at night I was amazed. If you are willing to do a little more work, you can cut the blue/white wire in the light switch module. The white/blue wire controls the dimmer. If you cut that and solder the red wire to it, you can cut off the aftermarket dimmer and twist those two wires together, so you can use the factory dimer. I can't take credit for this, cause I saw this on youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lgTy_9tbvqk

Good change, but not what i expected

These gauges are rather easy to install and definitely look better than stock color, but its not what i expected based on the pictures given and the picture on the install brochure. I was expecting a deep bright blue on the numbers and a blue glow ring around all the gauge needles, but that is none existent. instead it is a teal-blue color, which like i said is better than stock, but i bought these to match my blue radio and blue interior lights, so its disappointing that it doesn't match much better than the stock gauges.

    Not Too Shabby Ehh!

Great product for your Mustang. Gives it that racing style glow at night. Took a little less than an hour and the wire part installment was a bit tricky but definitely worth the small hassle. Recommended: )

    They Are What They Are

These gauges are not the same as the white face reverse glow gauges are. The images associated with those show rings of light and a cool blue/red color scheme. This is not the same product unfortunately. These black face glow gauges are just a different color than the stock gauge faces. Installation is not crazy but in order to have dimmer control from within the vehicle you need to connect the new given fader to the car's. If you like a bluish turquoise color for your gauges and just don't like the stock green then these are good. If you want a totally different look go with the white face.

    Pretty large improvement!

Install was slightly tricky and now I have problems when I use the factory dimmer knob... When I dim the factory dim knob, it dims the gauges except for the needles and then the AC control lights, Shift indicator, and needles become brighter. Now I cannot get the desired brightness level of the gauges without losing all sight of the other lights in the car (including the needles). Seems like no one else has this problem so it was possibly a problem on the installation. I like the new look of the gauges but now its a matter of fixing the dimmer problem.

Good product but a hassle to install.

Looks great but that's about it. There was a circuit board strip where one of the screws needed to go so the speedometer needle gets caught on the overlay. It looks really nice in the car but it's a hassle to install and I recommend double sided tape to keep it in place.

    Spectacular upgrade!!!

I installed the same day I received it. Although installation wasn't the most friendly, for the sale price its DEFINITELY worth it. The down sides are A) the dimmer has no instructions to connect to the vehicle's factory dimmer, and B) why the 3 extra leads? Upside is that its 100% better than the factory green lights. Looks absolutely awsome, and is worth it for sale price!!! Get this if you want an updated look.

    Black face reverse glow

It took me a while to install these gauges because its a lot of technical stuff and wiring. Sometimes the tacometer will jump because it gets stuck on a bump so I recommend gluing the peices onto your original gauges. Overall it looks pretty good.

    Reverse Glow Gauges

These really make a huge difference in the way the inside of the mustang looks. I attached them directly to my dimmer, so there are no separate knobs. They are so bright! well worth the 25$ to change up the traditional look of the gauges

Exactly what I was looking for!

These gauges pair greatly with my interior lights and stereo, a light teal. It fits right over your existing gauges, changing the appearance and giving a sportier look. The adjustable lights make well for any time of the day/night your driving. Overall I'm very happy with these gauges and shipping. Arrives with instructions and can be fitted in about an hour or so

    Such a difference

I bought these because i could barely see my gauges at night. Install was pretty straight forward. a little bit of super glue goes a long way when securing these. Wiring will be tricky if you're not comfortable with cutting a wire that is already short. Now i can see my gauges perfectly and it still looks cool.
