    Good bang for the buck

    Review from

I debated between the Roush grille and the AM grille for a few months. I did thorough research and compared pros and cons of each and decided to try out the AM grille. The grille looked great out of the box without any damage. The paint on the grille is about a 9/10 with it being a little heavy in some places. No big deal for the price. The instructions (even though I didn't read them, the Roush grille instructions are the best) have been revised and are easy to follow. No problems with the hardware either. The grille does not move and fits pretty snugly. After reading a few bad reviews on various Mustang sites, I am glad I took a chance on this grille. So far I have been very pleased with how it turned out and I'm glad I was able to save $70. This thread convinced me to purchase this grille and it has some nice images of the grille during the install. http://forums.themustangsource.com/f802/roush-bumper-install-fog-delete-pic-heavy-496358/

    Looks awesome!!!!!

    October 01, 2010

    Review from

The looks of the grille are fantastic, the instructions aren't. Being a novice handyman at best in regards to cars, the upper grille was easy. Just be careful removing the original grille, it is very easy to scratch your bumper especially if you do not decide to completely remove the original grille. I installed it without removing the fog lights as suggested. The upper grille instructions are 99% accurate and with pictures. The lower grille instructions are just horrible. Don't bother re-reading the 4 lines of instruction over and over looking for the answer you might have missed, it isn't there. The problem is getting the bracket to hold on to the fascia while you are threading a screw through it. I kept knocking it off. I was placing the bracket on top, not on the sides. My solution was to reach from the lower left of the grille and place a finger against the RIGHT bracket while I threaded the screw through it and tighten it slightly and then switch to the left side. Be careful not to put too much pressure on the grille because it will bend out of shape. If you have large forearms, forget it. I also suggest googling and checking out various mustang forums for install help. A lot of good ideas there too. I really love how it looks and I get a lot of compliments. Completely worth the minor hassle of installing myself.

Even for $150, one should expect much better quality than this. The metal tabs in back of the grill need to be aligned for the grill surround, but easy break off if you apply too much pressure. Save your money and the Roush.

The grille is made of very durable billet and shouldn't be breaking like that during installation. Give our customer service a ring. We can get you set up with a replacement shipment and a pre-paid return label for the defective grille.

The grills (I installed top and bottom) are finished well and not from light weight material. Top - Instructions are in Chin-English but you can make out what they mean. With the pony delete you WILL have to cut out the whole Pony mount area as the grill can't be installed with it there. You don't see the missing pony part of thr grill when all is installed again. Simple installation on a table or work bench (removal of the OEM off the car is required). Bottom - Really finishes off the air scoop and gives the car clean lines. Again the instructions are Chin-English. They are straight forward BUT the way to install this and make sure the mounts fit properly is do it with the OEM upper grill removed. I first tried installing this first and after about 20 minutes of getting no where moved to the top grill. With the top grill removed it takes

    Lower Grill

    February 27, 2013

I bought this lower grill (black) to protect the supercharger radiator on my 2010 Mustang from stone damage. The grill is well made, it fits perfectly into the lower grill opening and it looks great. The method of installation, however, is atrocious. The grill attaches with two long screws that pass through holes in the grill and tread into J-hooks designed to hook onto the 'lips' of the side plastic walls inside the grill opening. I found it impossible to do this. There are two, cheap, spring clips (that will rust) that must be placed over the J-hooks for the long screws to thread into. This is hokey. The screws are not long enough to pass through the grill and start threading into the spring clips on the J-hooks and still catch the plastic edges. I had to duct-tape the J-hooks on the plastic lips and then try to start the screws. It still didn't work since the screws are just too short. I ended up attaching the J-hooks to the plastic edged on the upper side of the grill opening (closer to the front) but this is much less secure. Frankly, I do not trust the attachement screws not to vibrate lose while driving. I intend to remove the grill and modify the installation method. I will weld the J-hooks onto 316-SS threaded stock cut long enough to catch the plastic lip and protrude through the grill. I'll use small stainless Nylock nuts on the front of the grill to tighten the grill into the opening. American Muscle should really redesign the attachment method for this grill.

    This is my second lower

    October 19, 2012

I bought the full set and loved it. Installation is a breeze with the Z hooks and screws and it looks fantastic. I get comments all the time about how great my new nose looks. However, I have a splitter style front fascia that rides low and forward, so I tend to scrape it a lot. After a particularly hard hit, I got about 60 miles down the road and the lower grille popped right out. So this time, I took extra precautions to keep it in place. Probably not a bad idea to keep an eye on it, even if you're not lowered.
