This Borla Header and X-Pipe kit will greatly improve your 3.7L Mustangs exhaust flow over the restrictive stock manifolds and Mid Pipe to significantly increase your Pony's horsepower and torque.

Quality Construction. Borla Long Tube Exhaust headers are CNC mandrel bent from 1-1/4" 16 gauge aircraft-quality T-304 stainless steel tubing for unrestricted airflow. They feature one piece 3/8" header flanges for added strength, leak-free performance and an OEM style fit.

Recommended Upgrade. To realize the full power potential that these Long Tube Headers have to offer, AmericanMuscle recommends a Bama custom tune with a Mustang Handheld Tuner to reprogram the vehicles computer (ECU) for proper operation.

Gaskets These Borla LT headers does not come with gaskets like BBK does, so am I going to need new gaskets or is it fine to use the stock ones?

WU302

  • The stock gaskets are actual layers of thin metal. I reused the stock gaskets when i installed these and had no issues. Also your car being rather new it shouldnt need new gaskets anyway.

will the catless x pipe throw codes? will i have computer issues without the cats?

  • Yes, you will have codes. You will need to have a BAMA tune to correct the issue from installing a catless system.

Anything else needed for install? Just got these headers in today and I'm wondering if I need anything else for the install. (gaskets?)

Micheal22

  • For the Borla Long Tube Headers w/ Off-Road Shorty X-Pipe (11-14 V6), I recommend getting the BBK Premium Header Gasket Set (11-17 V6) item #386976 (http://www.americanmuscle.com/bbk-header-gaskets-1114v6.html). I also suggest getting some additional gasket maker such as Hi-Temp FIPG for some additional coverage!

Question Resolved

I have the pypes pipe bomb axel back exhaust. Will I need a mid pipe or will this combo have enough pipe to reach to my axel backs?

NoChance93

  • The Borla Long Tube Headers w/ Off-Road Shorty X-Pipe (11-14 V6) will include the shorty mid-pipe needed. These will not bolt right up to your axle backs but will bolt up to the over axle pipes which connects to the Axle back. This would be all you would need to have a long tube header set up.

    Amazing

First off, I want to start by saying that I had ordered these as well as 3.73 gears to have them both installed at the same time, so I can't really speak too much solely on the performance of this combo set. I had ordered these and received them within 3 days. After receiving these and my gears, I delivered them straight to the shop to have them installed professionally which cost me a total of $480. The mechanic had told me that the passenger side O2 sensor was not long enough and had to make a harness to extend it, so I would make sure you check with your mechanic to see what he/she has to say. For sound, it completely transforms the vehicle's quiet tone. Anything higher than 2K RPMs and the car is talking, though at 5k RPMS is when my mufflers don't seem to hold it's pitch and is drowned out by the screams of the combo set. It'll definitely break necks and I love it. My only gripe right now is this annoying rattle/metal scraping noise that comes from the vehicle at no matter what RPM I'm at. I've talked with my mechanic and he had explained that Borla failed to provide metal hangers for the vehicle so that could be the issue, so he will check to see what the noise is. Other than that, I love this set and sounds amazing as a V6. My setup is Steeda CAI, Borla S-Type Catback, this off-road kit, and a race tune 93-Oct.

    Borla Longtubes Are Amazing!

i recently installed the XR-1 borla headers on my 2012 v6. the fitment was great and they were actually very easy to install. Me and 3 of my friends installed them in my garage on jack stands in an hour and a half. easy tip, remove all the bolts on the headers from the top of the car (through the engine bay) and then lay underneath the car and pull them down. Not as bad as i thought at all. I also have the ATAK catback and talk about loud. I drove by a park and stopped the whole basketball game going on because everyone was looking. It is insanely loud and sounds mean. You also can definitely feel the ec=xtra hp in the higher rpms and above 3500 it has a lot more pull to it. you'll noticed you climb through the tach a little quicker due to no restriction in the exhaust. Absolute awesome setup.

    DROPED 1/4 mile times

i went with this headers including full borla exhaust ... tried it at first i still was hitting 13.7s after i updated my sct tuner for the exhaust set-up ... i droped to a 13.4 @ 103mph.... well worth it...installation was easy .. as far as sound goes, more than likely you will get a raspy sound, which i took care off by adding some small resonators....

Good product, make sure you got help.

I bought this exhaust about a month ago and haven't had enough time to put it in until yesterday. Going into it, I was a little worried I'd have to extend the O2 sensors but thats not the case, Borla made the bungs so you didn't have to worry about it. The actual installation was relatively smooth, would have been much smoother if I had some help doing it, I definitely recommend a friend or two. Whoever decides to buy these, some of the things I could have saved time on are 1. when taking off the stock manifolds, when you take off the nuts, take the studs off too, you can't get the manifold off without taking them off and you gotta take them off eventually regardless. 2. Unbolt the flanges holding the cat to the manifold before you remove the manifold from the engine and 3. be extremely careful with the ends of the x-pipe... they are pretty fragile and will bend if your not careful with them and that is a pain in the rear. Anyway for the actual exhaust, its a tad bit raspy with the stock mufflers on. It's without a tune right now so hopefully when I put that on it'll even out the sound a little bit, I might end up going with a high flow muffler for a bit of a deeper exhaust note if the tune doesn't help out. Good product, noticeable performance gain, good material, very light compared to stock, I recommend it. I'll post again when I get my tune probably in the next day or so. Oh and I forgot, it doesn't come with gaskets so you need to buy them from your local ford dealership. Also from what I've found torque the headers down to about 15-20lbs.

    Borla Gains

Overall these are a solid product. First and foremost the sound and power gains are extremely noticeable. Fairly tame under 2K, but anything above that and "wake the dead" mode has been activated. My only complaints are the price and fit/installation. These are on the pricy side, yet you are paying for Borla. In addition you don't have to worry about extending the O2 wires. The fit and installation was the worst part by far. Myself and two other friends worked on it all day. We may have gotten a bad pair or something because it seemed like nothing was fitting correctly. We had to bend the headers at the end to make it fit with the x-pipe. All in all, these headers are expensive and can be difficult to install. However, if you really want to separate yourself from the sea of V6 mustangs on the road go with these. Borla provides the gains and prestige.

Borla LT headers with o/r x pipe

My car gained more power and became faster after installing this product, and now it sounds way louder especially with the o/r x pipe. I had a hard time finding someone to install the headers. If anyone is going to buy this headers I recommend that you buy borla atak catback exhaust with it but people will hate you for the sound Installation took only 110 minutes, and I spent $150 to install it.

    Borla header/x-pipe

The 2014 mustang v6 is a fun car, but it does lack a certain auditory presence from the factory. Borla corrects the deficiency via the header/x-pipe combo. The resulting sound will distinguish your car from the rest of the pack. I haven't had a chance to run dyno numbers but the car seems to pull much harder in the midrange rpm. Bottom line, if you live in texas, or any state without emissions testing this kit is a no-brainer.

Sounds great, performs great, fit...not so much.

Definitely find yourself a second pair of hands to help you with this install. They sound amazing and the high-end horsepower and torque gains are great. The fit was a lil off. I had to expand the pipes on the forward connections of the midpipe to get them to fit over the headers. And even with the bolts on the headers barely threaded, I was barely able to get the midpipe connections lined up and slid over. Once I was able to get everything together though, this baby roars.

    Great Headers

I installed these myself, and it took about 6 hours. I had to lengthen the O2 sensor on the rear drivers side. Fitment was excellent other than that. Very good quality product. I have stock axle backs, Airaid CAI, and a Bama tune. I really like the sound! It has a good tone at idle and low rpm cruzing, but really screams at WOT! I am waiting on the BBK throttle body and new tunes to compliment my other add ons.

    Loud

If you want good performance gains and your 3.7 to sound ridiculously loud, get these. I reccomend getting resonators as well. They kill the rasp and make it have a much deeper rumble.

Quite disappointed with the finish and texture of the headers, otherwise it is excellent!

Shipping by Americanmuscle is incredible, I got my item earlier than scheduled by one day. The finish and texture of the headers is not smooth and bad, but i guess it doesnt affect as the headers are going to withstand extreme heat in the exhaust chamber anyway. I take one full day to install, probably around 500-700 to install. everything else is great. iT DOESNT make your exhaust sound deeper but kind of like make it scream, and trust me it is so loud that it hurts your ear when you are standing behind the car in full RPM range. If you want your car to be a neckbreaker to everyone when on the road, I would reccomend you guys this long tube headers and offroad pipe. P.S Borla give a cap too!
