Easy yet great looking interior upgrade
I was pretty disappointed when I realized that my 5.0 came form the factory with simplistic mats (ONLY disappointment, and an incredibly minor one at that). The only reason why I say so is that even my old '06 V6 came with mats that had a nice metal tab attached to the side, proudly displaying "Mustang".
Not much to say about these mats, other than they are great and should have been included with every 5.0 from the factory. The quality alone is far superior to that of the flimsy, skinny OEM ones. The nice "spiky" grip adds extra protection against sliding. The padding/carpet itself is thick and seems like it is built to last. The securing "holes" are also perfectly placed, and I didn't have to struggle/bend the mats in order to get them to fit.
The embroidered "5.0" logo is definitely the show piece here, and I was thrilled to see that it actually seemed to be sewn into the mats themselves, instead of just being an adhesive pad. It especially looks awesome when the ambient lighting lights are on at night, as the white numbers light up into whatever color you have set.
I can confirm that the driver-side front mat DOES come with the extra tab to help cover the dead pedal (despite some user pics not showing it. Maybe an older model?). I haven't taken my car for a drive since installing them a few hours ago, but I did sit inside to check that it wouldn't get in the way of my foot while I am engaging the clutch. Fortunately, this doesn't seem to be an issue, as the fitment is perfect, and the fabric does not hang over the edge of the dead pedal (and I have size 15 feet, so technically no one should have an issue).
Overall, a great purchase, and couldn't be an easier installation (can't imagine anyone having trouble with installing a floor mat, but you never know.....) Seriously: 1. Take old mats out. 2. Put new mats in. My only issue now is trying not to dirty up the 5.0 logo!
Just buy them. Your 5.0 will thank you!
