Review & Install Video

Hi I’m Justin with, and I’m breaking down a very useful product from Covercraft thanks to their trunk pocket pod fitting all 2010 and newer Mustangs. If you’re like me and the slightest sign of clutter in your car drives you nuts, then the pocket pod from covercraft is definitely worth a closer look. This product features several different pockets that allow you to store a wide variety of items. From tools and first aid kits, to detailing supplied and whatever else you’d like to keep organized in your trunk. Covercraft is always known for their quality products and the pocket pod is no different, it starts off as a molded ABS plastic panel, and then is wrapped with a dark charcoal fabric which matches the factory carpet perfectly. In addition each edge has been finished off with this quality binding, and each pocket features these two secure clasps, ensuring whatever is stored in the pocket pod remains in the pocket. The best part is, this product installs easily without the need for any drilling instead using the factory style push fasteners. You’ll simply want to remove the factory carpet on your trunk lid first, and then reattach the pocket pod using the included fasteners. When it’s all said and done, you should be able to have this product installed in about 15 minutes. We all know the Mustang is a sports car and not a parts hauler, with that said, storage space isn’t always easy to come by, well with the help of Covercraft’s pocket pod trunk organizer, you can help keep your trunk and interior clean and clutter free.

Convenient. Keep your personal belongings from rattling around your trunk and add additional storage at the same time with a Covercraft Pocket Pod. The Mustang Pocket Pod features three storage pockets that are perfect for keeping items such as manuals, first aid kits, emergency tools, a tire pressure gauge, or any other items that you want to store out of the way, yet easily accessible. Each pod is approximately 11.5" x 6"x 2.5".

High Quality Construction. The Mustang Pocket Pod features three pockets that each have a lid with a secure closure latch. The Pocket Pod is made with a rigid heat-shaped backed panel and finished with a dark charcoal felt fabric to blend with your interior. And best of all, this high quality product is custom patterned, engineered, and Made in the USA, just like your Mustang, to ensure superior quality.

No Drill Installation. Pocket Pods do not require any drilling, utilizing the existing features of your trunk lid for a quick and easy installation using the factory push pin fasteners.

Application. This Covercraft Pocket Pod is designed to fit all 2010 to 2014 Mustangs, including the V6, GT, BOSS and Shelby GT500 models.

How Much Weight? How much weight approximately can you put in this before it prevents the trunk from opening?

  • I don't think there is anything that you could put in this that would make it so heavy the trunk would not open.

  • Remove the existing mat keepers and use the new ones that come with the Pocket Pod. To make sure that the new keepers are seated push them in by hand then tap each one with a hammer this will make sure that they are fully seated.

    Convienent storage

The pocket pod is a great addition to the trunk. It is a convienent way to store items that you would have either rolling around in your trunk or in some sort of storage bin. I installed the pocket pod right over the OEM trunk lid liner. It is an easy install using the supplied mounting plugs. This item demands attention as it dresses up your trunk.

Poket Pad can fit over existing trunk lid liner

I was a little disapointed when I saw the Poket Pad didn't completely cover the trunk lid like the stock liner did. Since the 11 holes in the Pocket Pad use the same holes in the original liner I installed the Pocket Pad over the original liner. To ensure a secure fit I replaced the supplied pine tree fasteners which were 1/4" diameter with 9/32" ones and got them 1/2" longer in length. They were a little tight going in but now both are secure & tight against the trunk lid. I have filled all 3 pocket with stuff and so far nothing has come loose.

    Decent, But No Better

The item seemed sturdy enough, although a little cheap-feeling compared to the existing liner. The instructions were easy to follow. However, I didn't like that it did not cover the same area as the previous trunk liner, leaving parts exposed. It also isn't fully molded to the Mustang, at least not the 2014 that I own - it needed to bend itself over the inside edge of the trunk, which a molded piece shouldn't need to do. I'm going to try the suggestion noted of installing the previous liner under it, along with longer fasteners, but this isn't something I should have to do for a product of this nature, especially at its price.

    Great storage for a neatnick...

Not much storage in the new mustang, aside from the door pocket (perfect for speeding tickets) and the bottomless pit in the console. This adds nice storage, looks neat, easy to access. Great product.

Great but not worth the price

This product is given 4 stars due to the cost vs material. I dont like the plastic twist style knobs used to close the pouches as they feel very cheap and Im afraid they may break off after continued use. I do however like the ease of installation and the fact it helps my trunk close with the added weight. Looks awesome too and helps keep my OCD in check!

    poor design

They skipped on material leaving about 20% of the trunk under lid showing with wiring. poor design. also no holes through the backing for mounting. what do you have to guess were the holes are in the trunk lid. very poor overall!

This prodict will help in trunk storage

The written instructions were unclear you need to see the video for the right way to install the unit. I landed up installing it over the existing trunk liner, the written instructions were unclear on removal of the existing trunk liner.

    Nice clean addition with function

For my installation, I kept the original trunk liner in place and added the Pocket Pod on top of the factory liner. It looks better in my opinion and it added the extra storage I was looking for.

    Best Gift Ever!!!

I received this as a git for Xmas from my girlfriend after always complaining about small loose items in my trunk I wanted to organize. It was a great gift and a great product. It uses your factory pin locations to mount in. I put mine right over the factory grey carpeting on the trunk lid. Took me about 10 minutes to install. I've been using it everyday and it seems well constructed and easy to get in and out of. My friends noticed it when i open the trunk and I received many compliments already. Would definitely recommend!

CoverCraft Pocket Pod works great/easy installe

The hardest part of the install was agonizing over the decision to remove the existing trunk liner. Having read several reviews where owners kept the liner in place, I attempted to keep the liner underneath the Pocket Pod, but the supplied clips were not long enough to be pushed through both. I couldn't find any at the local hardware store (in the automotive section), either. Also, I wonder why the makers of the Pocket Pod just didn't simply make it larger to fit exactly like the previous trunk liner, so the emergency trunk release cable would be secured to something rather than just flopping there. Also, the electrical cables kind of peek out from the upper Pocket Pod flap now, and that bugs me. That said, I am quite happy with the product and think it looks good.I am thrilled to have extra storage space, which my '14 GT truly lacks. I am planning on continuing my search online and in auto part stores for longer retention clips so that I can place the trunk liner back underneath the Pocket Pod (I have it stored neatly in my garage) so that my cables can be tucked back underneath. In short, it is a good purchase and I would recommend this product.

    Exactly what I expected

This is a nice product for organizing your trunk. Although a bit limited on space it fit enough of my necessities like window cleaner and rags also detail spray and microfibers. I installed it right over the factory trunk liner, just used a rubber mallet to seat the push pins through everything.

    Pocket Pod

I really like the way the Pocket Pod fits and looks. Installation took less than an hour. I removed the keepers from the factory and tried to re use them but I found that they do not quite do the job so I used the ones that came with the Pocket Pod. It was installed on top of the existing mat. The new keepers are great and jut push right in however just to make jure that they were seated all the way I tapped each one with a hammer. Have received good comments from all who see it when I open the trunk. Execellent product and reccomend it to anyone that wants to dress up the trunk area .

    Trunk Storage Liner

Fit is perfect. Installation a breeze. I took my time time removing the existing liner, just in case I wanted to use it again. Start installation from the top and work down. The 2 mounting holes inside the pockets are the hardest to complete, so do those before the bottom 5 Looks great and is very practical.

    Cleans up trunk nice!

Good idea to have if you want to clean up your trunk from all the small stuff. I keep my microfiber towels, car cleaning supplies and misc small items in my truck so this kept things looking neat. Supports plenty of weight too. My only minor gripe is I wish it had a slit at the top or a clip for the inside trunk release because it gets in the way when closing the trunk sometimes.

    Quality Product

I really like the look but it is very difficult to install over the existing backing on the trunk lid. I did not want to remove the backing because the Pocket Pod is smaller than the existing backing and I did not want to expose the trunk lid. I love the pockets and it keeps the little thinks from rolling around in my trunk and out of my glove box. It is ideal for the vehicle operation manual, tire gauge, etc. The product is well made but I disagree with other reviewers that is was easy to install.

    Great Quality Product

This Pocket Pod works great to Store misc. Items. I put some Quick Detailer and Micro fiber Towels in there. (No the bottle does not leak) Only heads up is if you plan to install it "Over" the existing Trunk cover then you will need to get longer pins to hold it on properly. Took me a while to get the right size push pins.

    Extra, functional storage

Nice product. Install wasn't extremely easy to install, but wasn't too bad. I have a set of fastener and molding tools that made removal of the factory trunk cover very easy. Install of the new cover was not too bad, but make sure you use the included plastic push pins. I could not re-use the factory pins, even though I wanted to. Also, I could not replace the two pins in the center pocket location. It simply didn't line up well, but the remaining pins seem to provide plenty of support. Once I had the pins all in place, I used a rubber mallet to lightly tap and make sure the plastic pins were seated.

Very careful when removing liner not to damage pins. Holes didnt line up & damaged 4 pins on install. Had to replace them @ dealer. Like the idea of install over liner!

Not as great as you hoped for

Pros: -Holds up to 9lbs. evenly distributed -Pockets are smartly sized -Great way to hold loose items Cons: -No holster for emergency trunk release. -Pockets aren't hard-lined - makes closing them difficult. -Fit could be better (i.e. more material around the edges) Overall, they're OK, though they probably should be cheaper.

Great Concept - Gives you storage you need

This was in and out in 20 minutes for me as I debated whether installing over existing trunk cover, or going without. I decided to take original liner out, and place this in. I wish they designed it the way the trunk liner that comes factory is deigned, but hey, it works. Is it worth the $104.00... ehhh, I would have said $75.00 at best, after putting detail items in and some towels, space filled up quick. Removed some clutter now I have to figure out what to do with the rest. But it is a nice to have, not a need to have.
