Description
More Power. The Screamin Demon Coil Pack makes more power then the wimpy stock oem factory coils to improve throttle response and to produce more horsepower and torque from your Pony's 3.8/3.9L V6 motor. 45,000 Volts. Screamin Demon's 6-tower style coil features a maximum of 45,000 Volts, that's more energy than the stock factory OEM coils can produce. More energy equals a hotter spark that burns fuel more completely releasing all it's potential energy translating into quicker starts, better fuel economy and more power that you can feel.

Durable Construction. Built rugged, the Screamin' Demon Coil features brass terminals and is epoxy filled, providing improved heat transfer and vibration resistance for a long trouble free life.

Application. The Screamin Demon Coil Pack is designed as a direct performance replacement upgrade for the 2001 to 2004 3.8/3.9L equipped V6 Mustangs. This Demon coil pack is perfect for stock and mildly modified engines.

What's the difference of performance with the demon coil based on spark plug gaps? i have the spark plugs set at stock .054", how will it change if i set it to demon coil recommended 065" ?

  • That's just recommended to get the 'most' performance out of it. You more than likely won't feel much if any 'power' increase by gapping your plugs more. I would do it just so you do get the best bang for your buck though

New Spark Plugs? Should I buy new performance iridium spark plugs to go with this?

  • I feel that if you are going to do this, get some new plugs and possibly new wires. The combination of those 3 works best together. It's like swapping in a throttle body on a stock car, sure tiny gains but better when combined.

HP How much horses will this produce?

  • This wont really produce any horse power. However will help account for bad sparkplugs and give a little better gas mileage and your car will idle VERY well. I suggest the MSD pack. You cant go wrong with MSD. This is not such a well known company and one thing I have learned to always pick the safe choice.

Got this coil pack when my stock one died on me. It was a small but noticeable difference in MPG and power, etc. I've had it for 2-3 years now, I'm glad I got it. Easy to install too, just take off the old and bolt on the new. In my opinion though, I don't think it's worth buying unless you need to replace your stock unit or if you're already replacing the plugs/wires.

i got this the same time i got the MSD plug wires and betweened the 2 i got a nice little bump in MPG's nothing major, nothing major on the power is noticeable but i have yet to gap the plugs to the allowed .060-.065, that should make a difference, will update if it does, overall it is a good upgrade, doubt it is needed unless you are just wanting to upgrade it.

Only lasted a week and a half.

    June 17, 2012

Now I hate to be "that guy" because everyone else has such a positive opinion of these, but my experience with this coil was very poor. After installation it ran well for about a week, at which point it began to miss under load. Three days later the central coil of the three coils totally fried. Now I might have just gotten a freak defective unit, but a quick google search reveals that many other mustang owners on mustang forums have had problems with this coil. Now, is it a hot coil? Absolutely! BUT you need to ask yourself whether you need a hot coil. If your running some application where you need the biggest spark plug gap possible (like nitrous or some really high compression ratio) then you may see a differene with one of these coils. If your 3.8 is only mildly modded, you will see NO benefits with this over your average 60 dollar autozone coil. It's placebo effect guys. In the end (for the average v6 owner) my suggestion would be to save 40 bucks and get a regular old replacement coil from a manufacturor that doesn't have a history of quality issues.

    Good replacement.

    March 17, 2011

I didn't notice any gains or anything but it does what it's supposed to do. I replaced my OEM one 'coz I found out that something was wrong with it, causing a misfire. It's easy to install. Kind of pricey but cheaper than OEM. I have no problem so far.

    Great Coil Pack

    March 07, 2012

First off, I agree with the others in advising to purchase only if you need another coil pack, if you plan on upgrading plugs and wires, or just looking to get a little extra MPG's. Installation was very simple and took less than 10 minutes. You won't feel a very noticeable gain in performance, especially if you use OEM spec wires and plugs. My car did idle a bit smoother and it boosted my MPG's a bit. It didn't pay off until I put performance plugs and wires on to compliment and then I could feel a difference. I am still satisfied as always and I do recommend it for those who more or less need it and have $100 to spend. Thanks AM!

    Stick to OEM

    November 11, 2013

Purchased and installed a Screamin Demon coil pack and MSD wires, I ended up getting a cylinder 2 misfire due to this defective coil pack. Did some research and found other people with similar experiences. Just stick to OEM.

    Does what it should

    May 31, 2013

I bought this when my original coil pack started to go on me. Sally (my car) had been sputtering, bucking, whatever you wanna call it, usually when i was going up a hill or getting on a highway in my higher gears (when the engine was under the most load) ever since i got her two years ago. All of a sudden, it started bucking pretty much every time i went to accelerate in third or fourth gear. I looked online and diagnosed it as the coil pack. I was right! Once i got this installed, which took about an hour with distractions and such, I took Sally for a test-drive and it felt like a totally new car. She is very responsive on the throttle, and no more sputter! I'm not sure there really are any performance gains in this mod on its own, but it definitely makes the car run better and that helps get power and control that you may have been losing over the years (we just have to accept our new edger's are getting older). I wouldn't buy this if your cars running fine as is, but I strongly suggest getting this to replace your old coil pack if your car seems at all to be sputtering under load or just not getting as much power anymore.
