Can this caliper paint be used to paint "under the hood" parts that get very hot!!!

  • You should be fine with painting underhood surfaces, as in the product description it states: "Formulated with Ceramic resins this paint is resistant to chipping, brake dust, automotive chemicals and temperatures of up to 500°F". I would say that you are going to be fine with it. - Ben

    Time Consuming but WORTH IT!

First off, it says that the installation time is approximately 2 hours. That is FALSE. Unless you have your car on a lift with all tires off then maybe but even then still doubtful unless you want a crappy job. IF you want them to turn out good, you have to be patient. It took me about 8 hours in one day to do all of them, HOWEVER, keep in mind that I took time and put at least 4 coats on each one. I also gave them time to dry in between coats. All in all, it is VERY TIME CONSUMING but in the end SOOO WORTH IT! If I can put them on then so can you. Tape off for perfection and take your time to ensure best results. Hope this review helps. Good day.

Installation Time: Less than 1 Hour

    January 11, 2012

    Great product for the cost.

This was a very inexpensive way to change the look of the car. Taking the car to get it done by a "pro" would cost 8x as much as just buying this kit and taking the time to do it yourself. But that is the key... Take the time... Do it right. If you do not have any, invest in jack stands and do not drive for at least 24 hours once it is done. Also buy better paint brushes. This kit comes with a very poor quality paint brush and will leave bristles stuck in the paint.

    definately worth it

I was thinking about doing this for a long time and i finally got around to it, it was so worth it, the job is time consuming so do it on a weekend. i found that what made the job SO much easier was using a sponge brush ( the kind you find at crafts stores for very cheap) instead of the small paintbrush, it was much easier to put on an even coat over a larger area, another thing that made the job more simple was using painting prep wipes made also by dupli-color along with the brake cleaner, overall it was a very rewarding addition to my mustang and im sure you will enjoy it too

    Great paint and easy installation!

First off, the price of this kit is competitive and well worth every dollar. It comes with everything you need to complete the job. Installation time can be anywhere from 2 to 6 hours, depending on how professional you want the brakes to look. Be sure to scrub off the calipers with a wire brush in order to remove all rust and brake dust before using supplied brake cleaner. I would recommend using a different paint brush becuase after the first few strokes with the supplied brush, bristles started to fall out and stick in the paint. Once the first coat is applied, wait about 10-15 for the paint to dry before adding another coat. The final product is a stunning, bright red brake caliper that is sure to grab attention!

    Caliper Paint Kit

This is actually a pretty easy DIY kit and it does not take over 4 hours to finish idk what others are doing to make an 8 hour shift out of it but it takes a few hours with 3 coats of paint plus drying and it finished of looking very good, just use four jacks next to each tire to lift the whole car and make sure its balanced right (be CAREFUL) and use suppourts, scrub the calipers, paint them and than dry n wait. You can also youtube a how-to, end results= bad azz!

    Quality Paint

I personally think that red is the best with my black GT. The look of the glossy red caliper through the chrome rims looks great! Every Stang owner has GOT TO have their calipers painted. For 25 buck it's totally worth it. I put on 4 coats on each caliper and it only took me like 2-3 hours. Totally accents the black paint!!!! Oh, and I still got half the can of paint left!! The brush broke on me halfway through, only downside.

    Compliments the car tremendously!

I have had this stuff laying around for like a yr and finally got around to it and I wanted to do it right so I ended up taking about 6 hrs even with jack stands all the way around but I put 4 coats of paint on so it would look the best. This stuff doesn't really get dirty it stays bright red and if there happens to be a little dirt on it wipes off really easily. If you are on the edge of getting it or not just do it and make sure you have all day free, you will defintely enjoy the way your car looks afterward!

Didn't last long on factory brembos

I applied the paint to my factory brembos and the rear calipers. Looked good, but unfortunately after 2 months the paint started to peel. Most likely you will have to sand blast them first to remove the factory coating, then apply the paint. But if you're going to go through all that, you might as well spit out the extra bucks to get them to get powder-coated.
