Review & Installation Video

Review & Install Video

Hey I’m Justin with AmericanMuscle.com, and I’m going to be breaking down the Flowmaster stainless steel Outlaw series catback exhaust, fitting all 2011 and 2012 Mustang GTs. This system gets its name from the two race orientated outlaw series straight through mufflers, which are going to be a lot more aggressive than the majority of Flowmaster’s other street offerings, such as the super 44 or delta flow for example. In fact, Flowmaster claims the outlaw series is the most aggressive system available for your coyote Mustang. This exhaust also features 3” mandrel bent tubing throughout and a full 409 grade stainless steel construction. It is worth mentioning that Flowmaster includes what they refer to as their scavenger style crossover pipe, which does take the place of a traditional X or H pipe. Flowmaster claims that this design actually makes a little more torque than those other traditional mid pipes, and it’s something they use in all of their catback designs. Finally everything exits out those 4” polished tips, embossed with that sick Flowmaster logo. Since this is a Cat-Back, you can expect a slightly more involved install that should take you roughly 2 hours from start to finish using basic hand tools. Now let’s hear how the Flowmaster Outlaw series catback sounds compared to our factory exhaust.

Super Aggressive Flowmaster Sound. Give your coyote powered Mustang that unmistakable Flowmaster sound with the Outlaw Series Cat-Back exhaust system from AmericanMuscle. This system improves exhaust flow using Flowmaster's race-oriented style Outlaw mufflers for that super, aggressive exhaust note your high powered Pony deserves.

Race Car Growl. The included Scavenger X-Pipe not only helps increase power, but it also adds a loud raspy, race car growl to the sound of your exhaust with its modern "X" crossover pipe design.

Reuses Stock Cats. The X-Pipe bolts up directly behind the factory catalytic converters with no cutting required saving you time and money. By reusing your stock catalytic converters, you ensure that your Mustang is smog-legal.

Stainless Steel Construction. Constructed from durable 3" diameter 16 gauge 409 stainless steel tubing for it's corrosion resistant properties, the Flowmaster Outlaw Cat-Back features two race-oriented mufflers with massive 4.0" diameter polished stainless steel tips for impressive muscle car looks and sound. As an added bonus, the tips are embossed with the "Flowmaster" logo for true custom styling.

Application. This Flowmaster Outlaw Series Stainless Steel Cat-Back Exhaust System is designed to fit the 2011 to 2012 GT Mustangs equipped with either aftermarket shorty headers or the factory manifolds.

Do you have a outlaw exhaust to fit the 2010 gt?

Ghost10

  • We offer the Flowmaster Outlaw Series Axle-Back Exhaust for the 2005-2010 GT. There doesn't appear to be an Outlaw Catback created for the 2010 GT though. I've attached the axle-back below if you'd like to take a look!

Tune I have a aftermarket tune. Do I need to get a new one if I install this?

sofakingdead

  • the AM team told me i didn't have to have a tune if the only mod i was doing was the catback flowmaster kit, however this exhaust is a huge upgrade over stock and will see its full potential with a tune, i would highly recommend one with an intake but its not required. this is a great upgrade that will benefit from future mods like a tune, an intake and throttle body or anything else you throw at it, i love it and it's very aggressive, if you like loud and a race car like sound, this is the exhaust for you, if not go with something milder, or an axle back, but it will break in good after a little driving and sounds waaaayyy better than 1st start up imo.

Headers Will Pypes polished long tube headers work with this? If so I wouldn't need to buy an X-Pipe correct?

aueagle1

  • This exhaust is made to bolt onto your stock manifolds and won't fit the long tube headers, it does include an x-pipe tho

Does this system remove the cats?

Johnny

  • No, this system attaches to the CAT downpipe behind the second set of O2 sensors. It just bolts in where your factory H-pipe did without altering the CATs.

Will these fit a new 2014 GT? I was wondering if these catbacks would fit my 5.0 2014.

Zach10

  • The Flowmaster Outlaw Cat-Back Exhaust - Stainless Steel (11-12 GT) has the same tech specs that are needed for fitment on a 2014 5.0 however, this exhaust may sit differently in the rear valance of a 2014.

Question Resolved

Does this Scavenger style X-Pipe hang down lower under the car then the factory mid pipe?

AC

  • The Flowmaster Outlaw Cat-Back Exhaust should fit relatively close to the OE exhaust, however, since the exhaust diameter is slightly larger, it will rest slightly lower than the original equipment.

    Legit!!!

I had ProDyno in SC install the outlaw kit and it only took about an hour. No issues with install due to fitment and that these guys are legit pro's. You won't regret buying this kit! I had the outlaw mufflers on my 08 GT/CS and it sounded awesome so I had to get the x-pipe and muffler kit for my 2011 GT. It's a real quality kind of loud past 2000 rpm's. It's a semi-mild growl at idle unless it's a cold start lol. There is a noticeable difference in power but nothing spectacular(without a tune). I've done all kinds of research and THIS IS THE KIT TO GET!!

    Better than expected

Love the new sound. Cold starts sound amazing, cabin drone around 2000rpm but while cruising it's a low growl. Very happy.

    Stupid LOUD!!

These exhaust are really loud. I get asked all the time if i have straight pipes and they're surprised when i tell them i still have stock headers and cats. If you're looking for loud and raspy this is the exhaust to get. As for installation you will most likely need a lift to get the stock over axle pipes off and the new ones on.

good product but the installation gets a little frustrating. Takes a lot of tweaking to get the mufflers to line up. Sounds great overall though.

    Outlaw Catback System

This is definitely an aggressive sounding system. Bought this system for my brother's 2011 GT and it has improved the exhaust sound tremendously. If you're looking for a better sounding Mustang without deleting the cats, then this is the system to have.

    Unbelievable sound!

This by far has got to be THE best exhaust I've ever heard! Will definitely turn plenty of heads. I had mine installed at a shop and even they were impressed with the sound. There is a very very minor drone at about 2100-2200 rpm but I personally love it! Worth every penny! Highly recommended if you want your 'stang to sound like nothing else out there.

Looks awesome, sounds loud, and worth the $

Went from GT500 axlebacks to this system and its much louder at startup and thru all rpm ranges. There's drone around 2k rpm as most other people noted. If you want a system without drone then this isn't for you. It's a very solid product and worth the money for what you get.

    BEST EXHAUST HANDS DOWN!

When i bought my 11' GT first stop was exhaust! I was first going to mismatch mufflers and x-pipes but decided to just take the guess work out and buy the complete Flowmaster catback. Fitment was no issue (car lift highly recommended). Took me and my friend about an hour or so. Muffler tips were centered with bumper cutouts & everything tightened down perfectly. Now lets get to the best part... THE SOUND. This exhaust is the perfect tone anyone would ever need. This is the loudest and most aggressive tone while still keeping your cats in place. I can have the monsterously loud sound while still keeping my cats in place. No check engine lights, no worries! This is one of the most affordable catbacks on the market right now. For anyone thinking of buying it... DO IT! You will love it!!

    HOLY $%&@... Loud!!!

this is by far the loudest and most aggressive exhaust i've every had on any mustang. that being said i had a 347 fox mustang with full mac exhaust with long tubes and this system puts that to shame. i paid about $80 to have this installed and the shop really had to do some tweaking to get them right, plus they had to tack weld the pipes because even when they were tight the pipes were still moving. i wasn't sure about this system when i first installed it but after a week of driving it broke in well and sounds amazing. if you want a dramatic exhaust change that will blow everyone away this is the exhaust you want. its super aggressive and really sounds like a race car. drone is very minimal and when you're at cruising speed or idle there is almost none. when you decide to open it up be prepared because this system will rock your world. glad i went with this system now, just waiting on the flowmaster shorty headers they just released to show up on AM to finish the package off. i would definitely buy these again now that i've had them for a bit.

Best purchase I have made so far!

I had researched multiple catback systems. I was looking for an aggressive system that wasn't full of drone or popping and cracking. I could not have made a Better decision going with the outlaw. I had a local shop install took about 2 hrs and was done for 80$ plus tax. Thank you American Muscle as their customer service is second to none. and their products come in perfect condition within a couple of days in the east coast.

    Amazing sound!!

Was going to get a Borla exhaust until I heard the flowmaster on a youtube video and then saw How much cheaper it was. Exhaust came in about a week after ordering with no issues thanks to American muscle. Stock exhaust was a pain to remove but eventually managed it. After that it was relatively smooth sailing fitting the flowmaster on. First start up with the flowmaster in blew my mind. It was making the whole shop my car was in shake it was so loud. The video in the Internet doesn't even do this exhaust justice. I definitely recommend this product.

    Blew my mind!

I tell you what guys, this is the best bang for your buck around! I would recommend taking it to a muffler shop to install as the stock over-axle pipes are a PITA to remove. Lining everything up does take patience but i had mine installed for 75$ and it took 1.5 hours. These are really loud. I just wasnt expecting the throatiness of this exhaust!! Deep low and subdued rumble at idle and sounds really good when slowly accelerating. When you mash it this screams! My favorite is when passing other cars, it echoes off everything. Minor drone between 1800-2200 with my 3.73s. Nothing the radio doesnt fix and my 3 year old falls asleep to them. Windows up it isnt too loud!
