Hey, guys. Joe from AmericanTrucks and today I'm gonna be reviewing and installing the Ford Performance by Borla Touring dual exhaust system with chrome tips and a rear exit fitting all '15 and up 5.0 F150s. This exhaust is going to be perfect for the F150 owner who's looking to get just a little bit more sound out of there 5.0 with one of the best-manufactured exhausts on the market and doesn't mind paying top dollar for it. And as you guys just heard, this is still going to give you a little bit more sound and give you a nice throaty tone but it's definitely intended for the F150 owner who is looking to live with his truck and daily drive it and wants it to remain comfortable and there is no drone in the cabin. I'm gonna give it a soft two out of five on our wake the neighbor scale. Borla manufactures is kit out of 304 stainless steel. Up front, you have the straight-through Borla resonator which is gonna go into a three-inch diameter pipe, that leads you then to your Borla Touring muffler and out the back of that this is going to split in two dual two and a quarter inch piping, exit straight out the rear with some awesome four-inch diameter chrome slash cut tips embossed with the Ford logo. The mandrel bends are going to ensure that the tubing on the inside of the bends is smooth which is going to promote a smooth exhaust flow, creating power. Also, the 304 stainless steel is perfect if you live in any salty winter conditions, you could be sure this kit is going to make noise for years to come. In Borla's range of exhausts, you actually start with the lowest in volume, this one, the Touring. Now that's not to say it's going to sound factory, it's not. But if you're looking to step up a little more you could check out the Ford Performance by Borla S-Type, or if you want the loudest in Borla's range you could check out the ATAK as well. We also offer the Touring in a couple of different combinations too. You have the choice of black tips or a side exit if that's more your thing. Pricing for this one is going to be high. We're looking at around the $1,250 mark. Now, while that may sound like a lot of money, you're getting one of the best engineered, one of the most well-manufactured kits available and the price is definitely worth it. Before we move on to the install I just want to make a quick note that this kit is intended for the medium wheelbase trucks. So if you have one of the longer wheelbase trucks, specifically the SuperCab with the eight-foot bed or the SuperCrew with the six and a half you will have to pick up the extension pipe which you can grab from us as well. Check out the drop-down box in the buy together section. Install isn't going to be too bad either. Like I said earlier, this is one of the most well-manufactured kits out there. You will not have to bend any pipes, make any cuts or use any hammers to get this to fit and it's going to go on perfectly right out of the box. For that I'm giving it an easy two out of three wrenches, should take you around an hour or two to get it installed with some basic hand tools. So let's hop into the install. For this install, you will need a half inch drive impact, 3/8 drive impact, U-joint, 24-millimeter socket, 21-millimeter socket, 15-millimeter socket, 13-millimeter socket, some spray lubricant like PB B'laster and a breaker bar. So first thing's first we got to get our factory cat-back out of here and we're gonna start by greasing up the three hangers down the length of the cat-back, then there's two 13-millimeter bolts on this flange here we're going to loosen up. That's going to allow us to slide the whole thing out in one piece. If you are working on the ground, it might help to loosen up this clamp here, allow you to pull it out in two pieces or make some cuts with a Sawzall. But again since we're on a lift we're gonna drop the whole thing in one big piece. So with our factory exhaust off the truck I just wanted to take a second to lay it on the ground next to our Ford Performance system and point out some of the key improvements our new exhaust is going to make. And namely right off the bat as you could see we're ditching this big factory muffler in exchange for the Borla Touring muffler, a huge improvement. Secondly, this new kit is going to be 304 stainless throughout its construction so it's gonna hold up a little bit better than this aluminized steel, especially if you live in any salty winter condition. Next, we're also bumping up the diameter of the inlet pipe to three-inches and we have the Borla resonator on there as well. After the muffler, we split into dual two and a quarter inch pipes which are going to exit straight out the back with some awesome four-inch diameter chrome slash cut tips embossed with the Ford logo. So let me show you how this thing is going to go on your truck. We're going to need our resonator pipe and the factory 13-millimeter hardware. And that inlet pipe is gonna go right back up to our factory connect and secure it with the factory hardware from our uninstall. As you guys can see I'm just using a pole jack to support that and I'm just gonna run back in those 13-millimeter bolts through our factory connect and into our Borla flange. And it's the small details that really make this kit worth the extra bread. As you can see, this nut on there is welded and that's a really nice touch, makes it a lot easier to install. And next you can tighten those bolts down. Now it's always a good rule of thumb with any exhaust to leave them hand tight for now and that goes for the whole kit. That's gonna give us some much-needed wiggle room when we near the end of the install and need some adjustment. Now we can install this hanger pipe with the three-inch clamp included in the kit. And that has a bend to it. You just want to make sure this bend is opening toward the frame rail and then we can hand tighten it with a 15-millimeter socket. And it's gonna be the same process for our muffler and over axle pipe combo, making sure it's seated in the hanger isolator and then on the back of that little hanger pipe. So now we move on to the passenger side tailpipe. And just putting that in place, you could see there's nowhere for this hanger to go to. Now that's not a problem because included in the kit from Borla are two of these for each side. That goes behind this leaf spring bolt here, so we're gonna loose that with a 21-millimeter and a 24-millimeter socket, fish in our hanger and then hang our new tailpipe. With that loosened up, we can now slide in our new exhaust hanger and it's just that easy. Now we got lucky and it loosened up on the bolt side. If that loosens up on the nut side, grab a pry bar, give it a quick tug and you should be able to mount it up just like we did. Also, we're gonna wait till the vehicle is on its own weight because that is going to flex the suspension then we're going to tighten that back down. So you can leave that loose for now, we're gonna hang our exhaust then lower the truck and tighten it back down. Now we're going to move on and do the same thing for the driver side. And with our new hangers in place, we can move back to the passenger side and put on our tailpipe. And again just leave that hand tight for now. Now we can move on to the driver side tailpipes. This one is gonna go behind our diff and go all the way around the spare tire. We can tighten that clamp down again with a 15-millimeter socket. Borla also includes this heat resistant wrap here, that's gonna go around our axle breather hose right there. So with everything in place on the truck, now is the perfect time to adjust this as needed to get it to fit perfectly then you can tighten down all the clamps and lower the truck, check for leaks and lastly don't forget to tighten down those leaf spring bolts. Make sure to tighten to factory specs. And that is gonna be it for my review and install of the Ford Performance by Borla Touring dual exhaust system with chrome tips and a rear exit. Keep it right here at americantrucks.com.
