How To Install A Brake Caliper Bolt Kit – Front - For Your 1987-1993 5.0L Mustang

Tools Required
  • Floor jack
  • 2 jack stands
  • 3/8 or ½ inch drive ratchet
  • torque wrench
  • 13/16 socket for lug nuts or 6 spline socket depending on what lug nuts your car has
  • 17mm socket

Removal Procedure 

Step 1: Using the floor jack lift the front of the car from the K-member until the front tires are off the ground a few inches. 

Step 2: Slide the jack stands, one each, under either the front control arms or the sub frame. 

Step 3: With the floor jack lower the front of the car until the jack stands are supporting the front of the car. 


Step 4: With the ratchet and lug socket, using either 13/16 or 6 spline depending on lug nuts, remove the 4 or 5 lug nuts holding your wheel on and then pull the wheel off the hub. 

Step 5: With the front wheel removed take the 17mm socket and remove both caliper bolts. 


Step 5: Removing 1st caliper bolt. 


Step 6: Removing 2nd caliper bolt. 


Installation Procedure: 

Step 1: Take the new caliper bolts and thread them into the two holes on the caliper 


Step 1: Inserting 2nd caliper bolt. 


Step 2: With the 17mm socket tighten both bolts until snug followed by another 1/8 turn. 


Step 3: Place the wheel back onto the hub and tighten the lug nuts to 95 ft-lbs. 

Step 4: Take the floor jack and lift the front of the car off the jack stands and remove. 

Step 5: lower the car to the ground and remove the floor jack.
