My experience with this product.
I purchased these headers to replace the original factory installed ones on my 1989 GT convertible. Let me start off by saying that their installation was not hard, however there was no way I could install them in 30 mins unless the engine was sitting on a stand or the engine compartment being gutted. The problems that I encountered no one else that rated these heads seems to have had. I installed the passenger side first. There was one bolt that I was unable to get a tool on to tighten. I later did not encounter that happening on the diver side.
Trying just about everything I had on hand and failing to tighten, I phoned Ford Motorsports Performance to inquire if there was a special tool that I needed. I was advised that the solution to this problem was to grind down a box end wrench. I gave it a try but still could not modify it enough to make it work. So what I did was to hand tighten the bolt as much as possible, then place a large screw driver between the bolt head and exhaust tube and whack it until I had enough space between the two in order to get the 12 point 10mm/3/8 wrench on. Seeing I only had this one bolt problem I would have to blame it on Ford quality control. I had searched for a more detailed installation instruction on the internet. Found one for MAC headers. There instruction's referred to my other issue with this kit. MAC supplies a bracket for the lower air tube which originally was secured to the passenger side engine hoist bracket which is now no longer being placed back on. MAC also provides a special bolt that allows you to secure the engine oil dipstick tube, that this kit does not. I used the original bolt in that position, cutting down on the length of the outer threat and then rounding out the circumference on one half of the nut. I guess it would be to much to ask from Ford, or maybe add a cost expense to provide these two items with the kit. I still have not figured out a way to be able torque the bolts. Hope this might give you a heads up on the installation.
