    Very stiff, but great

    April 01, 2012

Well I installed the H&R street coilovers a few weeks ago and after some street time, I am now writing a review. Installation was pretty straightforward. I paired the coilovers with the J&M caster/camber plates and the J&M adjustable Panhard bar. Installation took me and a very mechanically inclined friend an afternoon to install. The new lowered look is great, the handling is great too. The coilovers do a great job of eliminating body roll, but there are some problems. These coilovers, even for a street set up, are stiff. If i was to do it all again I may have spent more money on something with adjustable dampening or gone for the Tokico D spec shocks and struts with a set of springs. You definitely feel more of the road and this includes bumps and potholes and major changes in the road surface. It can be a tad uncomfortable at times. Other than that it is a great product, make sure to get the new caster camber plates so that your alignment doesnt go all wonky and to go with either a watts link or new panhard bar to fix any geometry problems you have when lowering.

I think this is one of the best suspension products out there for the money, and I only drive "slammed" cars! ;) for some who goes as low as I do I'd have to say this brand of coilovers will not only give you the stance you are looking for with range variety in ride height but will also give you a noticeable difference in handling! And I still yet have to upgrade the sway bars! Only thing that I was hoping to go for this time round was adjustable dampeners but given how these guys perform... I was definitely not dissapointed!
