Justin from AmericanMuscle.com, we’re here with Chris Thompson from Airaid. He stopped by the shop to tell us a little more about these great Airaid products. We’re very familiar with Airaid; we use them on our project cars with great success. Chris, what can you tell us about Airaid that makes it so unique? “Everything we do is digitally designed. It’s engineered to fit, it’s engineered to work, it’s engineered to work without any special tuning. Now, tuning is much, much better. You guys offer a lot of great choices in aftermarket tuning. It’ll only enhance the performance of the Mustang. We design our intakes so there’s no special gluing required, there’s no cutting or hacking of the engine required. If somebody decided to put a stock intake back on, they don’t have to go back to Ford to buy another part to put the piece back on. Every intake we do is digitally designed. It’s all about the design of the airflow and the linear charge to the throttle body. We use the rotational molding not so much for the heat soaking, but for the shape of the tube we can come up with. By using the rotational molding, it allows us to really give the right shape and form to make sure the product works well.” We’re very excited—we’ve got our 2013 Mustang here, probably not even 10 miles on this thing yet, and we already have an Airaid intake on it. Tell us a little more about that. “This is awesome. We’re really excited to be here today. This is the first Airaid intake on a 2013 Mustang. We’re really excited to be here with you guys. As you can see it fits. We know for sure it fits. We believe we have a hit. We’ll do a little bit more testing on it before we release it to the public, but that should happen anytime now.” Now, you were telling me earlier, you’re working with some legends in the Mustang world. “Well, we’re excited about working with Parnelli Jones and his son PJ. Parnelli’s been instrumental in helping us come along with the Boss 302 intakes we’re trying to develop. Nobody knows the heritage of the Boss 302 better than Parnelli Jones. We worked with PJ on the side by side utility vehicles (Razors, Rhinos, and TRX’s). We also sponsored him in the past on his endeavors in the American Le Mans Series, which he ran last year.” Chris, thank you so much for educating us on your great Airaid products. Application. This Stage 3 Intake Power Pack is specifically designed for use on the 2011 to 2012 GT Mustangs equipped with the 4-valve 5.0L Coyote V8 engine.

Airaid Cold Air Intake

Their industry leading design replaces your 5.0 V8 Mustang's restrictive stock factory air box and paper filter element with a high flow intake tube and rechargable filter for a noticeable increase in horsepower and acceleration.

L&M 82mm Throttle Body

82MM Bore Throttle Body. The L&M throttle body features a generous, free flowing 82mm bore diameter that has a bellmouth shaped inlet and a tapered, blended throttle blade for smoother airflow allowing your 5.0 engine to breathe easier for more power.

Ford Racing BOSS 302 Intake Manifold

More Air for More Power. Your 5.0L Coyote V8's stock manifold is designed to perform well at the low end, but it chokes off airflow at the top. When you want peak power, this Ford Racing BOSS 302 "runner in the box" Intake Manifold is designed to channel more air directly into your engine and set the stage for other power mods.

SCT SF3/X3 Power Flash Tuner w/ 3 Free Custom Tunes (11-12 GT)

Power you can Tune. The SCT SF3 handheld tuner will allow you to re-tune your Mustangs computer for more power and better drivability. We even included free custom Bama tunes to take full advantage of your new Airaid Cold Air Intake!

Increase your mod's potential. Factory computer settings are calibrated for the original factory components. When making performance modifications, you need to recalibrate the vehicle's computer to realize the full potential that these modifications can achieve.

Free tunes for life! Every customer that purchases a tuner is enrolled in the "Free tunes for life" program. Any time that you make additional mods to your vehicle, our team of SCT certified Bama Custom Tuners will create new tunes for you.

Custom Bama Tunes specific to your vehicle. When you order a tuner, you aren't just getting a tuner - you are getting the tuner and 3 dyno-tested custom Bama tunes:
  • Street (87-93 octane) - the street tune is designed as a daily driver program that focuses in on increasing mid-range power. It does give up a few HP at higher RPMs, but that's why there is a Performance file. Automatic vehicles are further enhanced by making adjustments to the transmission's shift points and firmness.
  • Performance (87-93 octane) - The Performance program is designed to add power at 3000 RPMs and higher, focusing more on the top end horsepower and all out performance driving. Timing, fuel and throttle response settings are slightly more aggressive than the street tune. This is a great track tune but also works well for daily drivers that are looking for a little more "get up and go" than the street tune. The automatic transmission settings are the same as in the street tune.
  • Race (91 - 93 octane) - The race tune will ensure the largest increase in vehicle performance. Using the highest grade of fuel available in your area is mandatory. This file is designed for "Race only Use" as the timing, fuel, and throttle response settings are very aggressive. In fact, the adjustments are so aggressive, that we do not recommend it for daily driving as it may cause your vehicle to try to jump out from a stop and easily spin the tires. Finally, with the automatics, we implement entirely new shift points and firmness settings to further enhance the all-out performance of the vehicle.


Nitrous (91-unleaded race gas) - Our nitrous option can be added to any of our previously mentioned tune options, but only for 91-octane unleaded fuel.

Easy to load; easy to restore. Not only are the custom tunes easy to load on your vehicle, it is just as easy to restore your factory settings. When you load your custom tune on the vehicle, the tuner automatically stores your vehicle's factory settings. To return the vehicle to its factory settings, just plug the tuner back in, select the option to restore the factory settings, and you're done.
