Does this header work along with JBA Off-Road X-Pipe (05-10 GT)?

  • If you are referring to the standard length JBA O/R X-pipe (SKU 23122), then they are not compatible unfortunately as stock manifolds or shorty headers would be needed. These Long Tubes require the Shorty Mid-pipe for proper fitment. I've attached the link below for the correct pipe options. Hope this helps!

Removing exhaust manifold studs Has anyone had problems removing the stock exhaust manifold studs or had them break off?

  • Try spraying them down with a penetrator and let them sit for several hours. Most should come out when you try to remove the nut. Those that still need removed after the nut, use a small ratchet and 5mm socket. Keep the socket straight on the stud and turn slowly and lightly. You should be able to release them with relative ease. If you have to use torque, then they are stuck and you will snap them. Put penetrator on those and try to just crack it loose by tightening the bolt just a tiny turn. Then spray it again and let it sit for a bit. That should allow you to be able to remove it. For the broken studs, there are several fixes depending on your abilities. 1: There are kits available at your tool shops that grip the round stud and turn it. 2: You can try to turn it with a small pipe wrench. 3: If you can get a nut on the threads still, you can tack weld that to the stud and get it that way. 4: (and I don't like this way because it changes the integrity of the stud) but you can shave side of the stud to get some sort of bit or square it for pliers. My best advice is just to be easy on them, they aren't very strong so they weren't put in with great force and should come out the same. Hope this helps! Hang in there, you will get this!

I currently have ford racing intake manifold, hotrod cams, cai, udp, ford racing throttle body, bama tune. I know that adding long tube headers will give me more HP, but I don't want to lose TQ. Would long tubes gain as much TQ as shorties would give? Would long tubes be a better fit for my mods than aftermarket shorties?

Beautiful headers & fit like a glove

Headers have been on my short list of must-haves since I got my car, and these JBA's have basically been the ones I wanted since day one. I finally saved up a few bucks to buy them and I could not be happier. First off, the install is time consuming BUT if you allow yourself time to do it, it is not difficult at all. Raising the engine is the most important part of it and a floor jack with a board under the oil pan will do just fine. Also, although they don't come this way I slotted the bottom outside bolt holes on both headers with a cutoff wheel. I'm not sure why JBA doesn't just do this because it made my solo install a million times easier. Both headers fit like a glove, the bolts are actually almost all fairly easy to get at. I spent more time taking the stock stuff out (especially the dipstick tube) than I did installing the headers. The passenger side motor mount was a little tricky to get back in with the header installed. The starter was easier to reinstall than I thought- with these headers you actually have access to that "blind" top bolt from the engine bay which is a big help! I did have two issues with these headers: 1. The top front bolt hole on the passenger side header was off a miniscule amount-maybe 1/32"-but it was just enough that I could not get that bolt to thread into the hole without crossthreading. I had to take the header back out and open that hole up. 2. There were a few little balls of ceramic stuck inside the collectors that I knocked free with a long screwdriver. I knew if I left them in there they would come out down the road and probably damage my cats. Overall- Great product, nicely made, fits well, easy install, couldn't be happier and very satisfied with this purchase.

Was not to bad to install. All I had were ramps and jack stands. Took about 6 hours in my driveway.

Finish was great. Looks nice. Perfect fit. No ground clearance problems at all. Sounds good. Loud when you start it and in go mode.... More power above 3500rpm

I couldn't be happy with them, the sound is amazing with the shorty catted H-Pipe and the fitment was pretty good as well. What they should tell you is that this set of headers comes with 2 oxygen sensors already so you really only have to purchase one more set of two to have have all for sensors moved back. Install took about 8 hours to do myself and my friend but went smoothly as well. definitely would recommend these headers!

    JBA longtube headers

I ordered these headers after reading tons of reviews and watching 100 videos to hear what they sound like. They arrived in no time thanks to American Muscle and were not damaged or scratched when I opened them up. I have the Flowmaster Outlaws and the JBA catted H pipe on as well and with them the car is just insane. I do not have any air tools so I wasn't able to remove my stock midpipe from the manifold. The bolts were too rusted and would not budge so I brought them to the shop.

    JBA LT Headers

I ordered these LT Headers along with the catted H pipe. Package arrived a little damaged but tubes were okay. Loved the look of ceramic coating. I don't have access to a lift and read enough installation complaints to know this might be beyond my abilities inside the garage on jack stands. So, I had the set installed by a local recommended mechanic who quoted $400 for complete install. I was informed after completion that it was the hardest header install he's ever done. I ended up paying him an additional $200 for the job. I have Cervinis side exhaust and adding these LT's/Hi flow catted H pipe added a serious loud factor. I knew that this was going to happen but WOW! If you have side exhaust and are opposed to an extremely loud exhaust note- rethink LT's because I can't imagine any other brand of LT's wouldn't have a similar result. If you like LOUD, then this is the setup for you. I'm currently on the fence. I love the sound when you jump on it (that will definitely wake you up!!) but if anyone is standing around the car when I fire this bad girl up, it scares the be-jesus out of them. Kind of comical at a cruise-in but not so much at the grocery store or when my wife needs to use the car for work. I'm currently searching the .net for some quieter muffers to replace the ones that came with the side exhaust kit. The tune by BAMA worked perfectly. No error codes and all kinds of new pep in the girl's step. The only complaints I have with this combo were easily resolved but a nuisance non the less. First; the sleeve style clamps sent with the combo kit were way too big and unusable anywhere in the install. It baffled myself and the mechanic doing the install. He had to use a pair of u-clamps to complete the job. My next call will be to customer service to get the proper size. When/if Am. Muscle sends me the correct ones, I'll get under the car and correct that. Secondly, the O2 sensor extensions have an alignment tab which needs to be trimmed at the harness side. That was not mentioned in any of the paperwork or install directions according to the mechanic. A quick call, by me, to Am. Muscle solved that issue. Both easily resolved problems-just a pain and an added delay. Overall-good headers. They look great. They're LOUD!!! but the sound with my setup is amazing.

    Well worth the journey!

I'll post a better review as I've had little sleep in the past 24hrs. Lol I also have only driven about 25 miles on them so far, so I will review again after driving a bit. I'll also post pictures, especially of my hands!!! If I can say one thing right now, I had to give 4 stars for fitment as I installed the ceramic coated headers with the O/R H and you do have to do some Dremel work on the pipes to get them to "slide over the headers". I heard someone else mention this. I chose and recommend if you like your header finish to do the inside rim of the H pipe! One more note, I'd like to somehow leave my information for any 07' GT convertible owners who may attempt this in your garage! I couldn't find many who could explain or solve my snags. I also couldn't get a dealer or even 2 sport shops that wanted to install them! Tells you the difficulty!! On a scale of 1 to 10, 1 being never turned a screwdriver and 10 being certified mechanic, I'm a 6/7. Unless you have unlimited access to tools, a lift, and time, my 2 cents is to have them installed. I will say that the accomplishment does feel great and my first 25 miles I think every single person in another car looked at me and smiled!! ;) Now I will get some sleep, let my hands heal for a few days, then onto throttle body and pulleys! I'll post detailed directions for this install and the TB and pulleys for us 07' owners! To sum up my first review, order them now!!

    Great headers

install time took 5 1/2 hours in my buddy's shop with the two of us working on it. I will say you do need to have two people to make things easy and less of a pain. With everything installed it fits like a glove and sounds great with the off road h-pipe. A few pointers that we had learned during the install is, to make things easier; remove the starter, remove the a/c compressor, remove the steering shaft, remove oil dip stick, unbolt and push the rack forward and fully remove engine mounts. A few issues that we ran into and needed special tools for was one of the starter bolts partly cross threaded going back in and needed a re-threader, we also had replaced the header studs and bolts as over half of the studs came out while trying to remove the bolts and on that note on 3 of the upper header studs they needed to be cut down to the thread so everything would fit perfectly. One other thing that helped was having some spray tac for gaskets so the header gasket would stay in place on the heads. One thing that needs to be kept in mind the bolt that holds the rack in place on the driver's side just below where the steering shaft mounts ford used some serious thread locker and shop impact tools and 1/2" breaker bar were barely enough to get the freaking bolt out. Overall I recommend this product with the understanding we had a full shop and all the tools possible that was needed

    Awesome product

Bought the JBA ceramic long tube headers because I read a lot of good things about them plus, they were ceramic coated, which would add to the longevity and also reduce heat loss due to radiation. Had my local shop install them, took them about 2 hours to do so along with the JBA catted shorty H-pipe. First thing I noticed was the sound, second thing was the power gains at and above 3,000 rpm.

    Great Sound and Looks

These headers are great!! They look and sound amazing. I had them installed along with some Ford Racing hot rod cams, JBA Off-Road X-pipe 2.57mm Pulley, 90mm Idler Ford Racing 4.10 Gears and a few other mods (most of which were purchased through AM) on my 2010 Roush 427R. But back to the headers, they arrived promptly and well kempt and I live all the way in Mississippi, which probably surprises you that I know how to use kempt properly in a sentence! I watched the guys at the shop pull my motor out and install them and it didn't seem too hard with the appropriate tools. It took them about 4-5 hours to complete the job. I haven't had a chance to get to a dyno yet to check my numbers but with my new mods, iTSX tuner and custom tunes from BAMA tunes I am sure I am making some pretty nice power!! Great buy and great support as always from AM. Thanks guys.
