Description
Increase horsepower and torque. Now you can bolt on extra horsepower and torque that you can feel throughout the entire RPM range with a set of JBA Cat4ward® Shorty headers. These JBA Shorty headers improve your mustangs exhaust flow increasing your pony's horsepower, torque, and throttle response.

Quality Construction. These JBA Shorty headers are made to last using 3/8" thick laser-cut flanges, free flowing mandrel-bent 1-5/8" 14 gauge steel tubing, and JBA's Sealing Dome® collectors. The headers are finished in a Titanium ceramic coating for the best in thermal protection and corrosion resistance.

Titanium Ceramic Coating. These Shorty Headers are completed in JBA's Titanium Ceramic Coating that not only looks great, but reduce under hood temperatures to help increase horsepower and extend the life of the headers. Ceramic Coated headers will long out last both chrome plated and polished headers.

Application. Designed to fit the 1999-2004 SVT Cobra and 2003-2004 Mach 1 Mustangs. These JBA shorty headers include high-quality mounting hardware, gaskets, and instructions, so that they will bolt right up to your Mustangs stock mid-pipe.

I want to install after market headers on my 2003 Mach 1. Do you recommend short or long pipes? Plus, do I need to buy anything else other than the header kit itself???

  • That depends on your preference. Long tubes produce more power and torque, however they are generally more costly, more difficult to install, require more changes, and may be illegal if it relocates the position of the catalytic converters. In the case that it relocates or eliminates your cats, you may have yo reinstall your stock tubes for inspection day unless you have an insider. Short tubes produce less power and torque by only a margin, however they are easier to install, cost less generally, usually don't require you to change mid-pipes, and you wont have to worry about swapping out to the old one when inspection comes along.

Compatible with BBK Catted X-Pipe for GT I'm preparing for a 4v swap into my GT and I would like to know if these headers would still be compatible with the current mid-pipe on my 96 GT. It's a BBK Catted X-Pipe for Shorty or Factory headers. I really like the sound of the current setup and want to retain as much of that as possible.

  • These are are the cobra and the Mach 1 so you might have fitment problems.

    SATISFIED

    I bought these because I didnt want to deal with the ground clearance issues of long tube headers. I was very surprised at the improvement they made! My exhaust flows free and smooth, the sound is more crisp, and my engine is much cooler! They also added some much needed torque. These headers dont fall short in any category. If youre looking for shorty headers, look no further!

    ...but worth it

    Took literally all day to put them on, but my 04 mach 1 breaths much better and the sound is 100% better. definitely can feel the difference when getting into her. worth the time and money. plus the hardware they send is great. lock washers with the header bolts. i check them every weekend and at most 1/8 inch turn to tighten up.

    High Quality Product. Fit is perfect.

    Installed these while the motor was out being assembled so that made it a little easier. They are a a very well built header design for those not wanting to deal with long tubes. Worth the extra money for these, but in the long run, you will spend more buying the long tubes and a mid pipe that would work together. Thats what also was a factor in buying these, they work with the stock mid pipe. Only bad thing i could say is the bolts they give you in the kit are not the proper way to hold the header down without the bolts coming loose in a few months. Even though they are shorties, they will still be a pain to tighten in the car. Do yourself a favor and get manifold studs and nuts from Ford. They are lock nuts so the likelihood of them coming loose is very minimal. I did have to use one of the included bolts on the driver side header because of the way the tube comes off the flange. I also chose to put a spacer behind the dipstick tube instead of cutting the header flange. Overall, these headers are awesome! Thanks to Karen and Rob in sales for the suggestion on these!

    JBA Shorty -- Mach1

    Very Well made, good ceramic coat and lined up very well. Benefit needed was it allowed me to maintian the foctory Cat / Mid pipe and EGR setup which is a must for those of us affected by Emmissions tests. Oil Dip Stick re-route was needed but not a show stopper. Enhanced deeper sound when leaning into it. Certainly beats the Facory Mach1 Cast unit. JBA could bring the price down a little but all in all well worth it. SUGGESTION: I did order the Ford Racing Exhaust Gaskets (Steel insert type) which, with the Factory Stud bolt combo, seem to maintian the fitment without leaks. I suspect the normal gaskets allow for micron level vibrational movement that leads to backing off and leaks. With the metal infused gaskets that does not seem to occure. As usual American Muscle service and Shipping was fast...!

    Some modification required.

    We had to grind the flange on the left side to clear the transmission. It would not fit without modification.

    JBA shorty headers

    the only shorty on the market. If you want a pair this is your best option. A real bear to install. The K member had to be dropped to do the installation. Way above the skill level I possess and the tools needed. A lift was a necessity
