Description
Reduce Sludge. In your Mustang's engine, crankcase exhaust is re-circulated back through your PCV system and intake, taking with it large amounts of oil vapors. This JLT Oil Separator kit installs in your PCV line to filter out oil before it can get into your engine's intake - where it doesn't belong - and cause damage.

Premium Quality Kit. This high quality kit includes the JLT Oil Separator, which features billet aluminum construction with a satin anodized finish for superior style and durability. The 2 oz. tank base is easily removed for draining during oil changes, and is designed with a o-ring for a leak-free seal. Plus, JLT added a Ford Motorcraft metal mesh PCV pre-filter to prevent any oil from getting back into your intake.

Easy Installation. This complete kit includes a factory PCV line that has already been modified with the necessary fittings and attached to the separator for a true plug-and-play installation.

Application. This JLT Passenger Side Oil Separator kit is for use on the 2011 to 2017 V6 Mustangs. Designed for direct installation on the passengers side only.

Review & Install Video

Hi I’m Justin with AmericanMuscle.com, here with a way to keep your Coyote motor clean, and sludge free, thanks to these JLT oil separators available in a black, or satin finish for all 2011 and newer Mustang GTs. So what do these do? Well, just about every internal combustion engine has what’s called PCV, or Positive Crank Case Ventilation. Basically what this does, is allows the oily vapors and gases that are produced during combustion, to escape the block or crank case in a controlled manner. A lot of times these oils and gases are routed through a PCV valve or a breather tube, back into the intake track to eventually be burned off by your engine. The only problem with this is these vapors can eventually dirty up the intake manifold over time and in some very extreme cases can cause damage, or lower your octane rating by diluting your fuel. This becomes even more of an issue on supercharged or turbocharged cars, where crank case pressures are increased, causing even more of this oily by product to occur. That’s where these oil separators from JLT come into play, these mount in line with your Mustang’s PCV system to catch any excess oil vapors or sludge. As a matter of fact, we did install one of these on our 2011 GT here a little while back, and since then we’ve been doing some spirited driving, and a few Dyno pulls, probably totaling 50-60 miles. Let’s take a look inside and see what we’ve collected. Alright, well there you go, that would have otherwise ended up back into our intake manifold. Taking a closer look at the kit, you’ll notice it’s actually pretty simple. JLT uses a 2 ounce, Billet aluminum collector, that’s available in your choice or either a satin silver, or a black finish, They also include these two preinstalled factory hoses, making this a completely easy plug and play install that should take you no more than 30 minutes. All you need to do is remove your factory tube connected your valve to the intake manifold, and plug the new JLT setup in its place. You will notice there are two PCV hoses on your Coyote motor, one on the passenger side and one on the driver side, does this mean you need to run two oil separators? Well, JLT claims that 80% of the oil and sludge on the Coyote motor comes from one side. Of course running one for each side would be the best option, especially if you’re running a boosted setup, but that’s for you to decide. So if you want to invest in a product that will help keep your Coyote motor free from sludge, then going with a product like this JLT oil separator would be a great place to start.

This is a must have item, should be stock by Ford!

The build quality of this item is excellant. I installed it under 1 minute from box to car. This item actually works and helps keep your engine clean from oil being recycled into the air manifold. Very simple to empty and you'll be surprised at how much is in the container just after 1 month, simply stuning what gets recycled into your engine. Ford should make this item standard as part of the engine. If you don't buy one of these, you're just slowly killing your engine.

    V6 JLT Oil Separator

By far one of the easiest parts i have installed. I have seen oil separators on other cars at shows and asked around about what the benefits are and finally there is one for the v6. As usual fast shipping from AM, and great service. In the long run this will save wear and tear on the engine intake. I highly reccomend this part and will continue shopping with AM.

Inside of my intake completely coated in oil

I had intended to install one of these for quite some time, and never got one. Then I took apart my intake manifold to look at porting and was shocked how much oil was being sprayed inside my intake because it was completely coated. Just remove the old PCV line from the passengers side and you'll see the oil drip from the intake connection. Why Ford didn't install these from the factory is a huge oversight.

    Excellent product

Does exactly what it is supposed to do, keeps oil from going back in the intake and gumming things up. Took about 10 seconds to install. Quality made and looks good under the hood.

    Easy Upgrade!

There is more than one good reason to add an air/oil separator or catch can on your PCV line. For one it helps prevent droplets of oil from gumming up your PCV, this is a part you have to periodically replace because of the liquid oil that gets drawn through the system. Products like this also reduce the amount of oil that will build up over time in your intake system beyond the PCV itself. This will keep the interior of the intake assembly cleaner and lend to a longer more efficient life of the motor. This is a simple way keep your motor healthier year after year. The second reason is to help keep the air fuel mixture free from liquid oil, since droplets of liquid oil are caught in the canister they to enter the combustion mixture where they would likely lower Octane levels. This is a bonus for keeping power output optimal. The JLT product not only looks good but it is made as an exact replacement for your Original Equipment PCV line. Every detail of the products seems to be top notch quality. It is well thought out and looks like it will last as long or longer then the rest of the car. Removal of the existing PCV line and installation of the JLT unit is real simple and will probably take less then 5 minutes. Opening the canister to empty out captured oil is also easy and quick. I highly recommend this product. You will be surprised how much oil is captured in the canister in the first few hundred miles and you will be glad all the oil did not wind up gumming up your intake.

    Great Little Addition!!

I know the benefits of oil separators, but I was hesitant to purchase one for my new Mustang. I eventually gave in and got one to help keep my intake clean and the A/F mixture cleaner. I am glad that I did. After about 1,000 miles of regular city driving, I collected about 8-10mL. There is another small benefit not mentioned with separators. In cold weather, not only is oil collected, but so is some of the moisture that develops in the crankcase. The separator is great quality itself. It comes with OEM-like plastic hose, OEM connectors and the satin finish is nice. The fittings on the catch can itself came [anodized? painted?] black, not bare-brass like some pre-production photos show. There are also two threaded holes on the top of the catch can if you wanted to fasten it to a bracket. The catch can itself is light and should be OK without a bracket.
