Hey, guys, this is Stephanie from AmericanMuscle.com, and I'm going to be reviewing this Kooks axle-back exhaust for Fastback 2015 and '16 GTs. My first impression of this axle-back is that it's my style. It's a good mix between loud and deep, and what I really like is that the sound stays consistent throughout the RPMs. It doesn't get raspy or crackle on those higher RPMs. Even from inside the car, the system sounds good and there's no drone, which is perfect for a nice cruise or some ripping around town.Keep in mind that this is an axle-back, so you'll be keeping all of your cats and your stock resonator. Now, down the road, you can always change out the resonator for another mid-pipe option and enhance the sound of this axle-back even more, and that's one of the nice things about an axle-back. It offers room to grow and change through different mid-pipes, or off-road setups, or headers. I'm going to rate it as a three on the loudness scale, which is a pretty solid rating for just an axle-back.So we're looking at three-inch stainless steel tubing with four-inch polished slash-cut tips and a pair of Kooks high-flow racing mufflers coming in at just over the $600 mark. I'd say that this is right at the middle of the road with the price when we look at the exhaust market for the S550 GT and from a brand that's known for their exhaust products. I'd say that this is a good deal, here, if you're looking for a louder muscle car sound from an axle-back, and you even have the option of black or chrome tips.Install-wise, if you don't know by now, if you're installing an axle-back, you're going to be doing some cutting, and this axle-back is no different as a standard cut-and-clamp design that we're used to seeing with other axle-backs, and for that reason, I'm going to stick with what I've said in the past and call this a two out of three wrenches on the scale. Time-wise, it shouldn't really take too long to install, probably about an hour or so, but you do have to be careful when you're cutting, and remember that this system's not compatible with convertibles. I still just recommend a fresh Sawzall blade and eye protection, just to make sure everything goes smoothly.Wrapping this up, Kooks has provided a great-sounding, good quality axle-back with a fair price point for the new S550s. This thing sounds great, and if you're looking for a loud, deep and dirty exhaust tone, then this should be a good option for you. As always, feel free to check out the full lineup of axle-back options, and we'll see you here at AmericanMuscle.com.
