Description
Upgrade From Stock. Using a heavy gauge seamless cylinder construction that resists bending, flexing, and leaking, this KYB Gas-A-Just quad shock features a floating piston that separates the oil and compresses the nitrogen gas to add velocity sensitive damping. Velocity sensitive damping allows the shock to quickly adjust to changing road conditions for greatly improved ride quality and handling.

Monotube Design. Built with advanced engineering, the KYB Gas-A-Just Rear Quad Shock features a Monotube design that completely eliminates foaming and performance fade, to provide more damping than OEM twin tube style shock absorbers for an increase in performance and stability.

Application. This KYB Gas-A-Just Rear Quad Shock is designed for use on the 1984 to 2004 Mustang, including the V6, GT, Bullitt, Mach 1 and 1994 to 1998 SVT Cobra. It does not fit the 1999 to 2004 SVT Cobra models with Independent Rear Suspension (IRS). Sold individually.

Will these fit on a 94, with 17x10.5 rims? Will there be any rubbing on the tire?

walts94cobra Year: 1994 Model: Cobra

Good Question (0) (0)
  • How you doin' walts94cobra? From my experience, the Quad shocks sit far enough inside the outer extremities of the frame, that tire rubbing is not an issue. You might want to crawl under the car (if it has been lowered, put it on jack stands first) and check where the stock quad shocks are, and you'll see that there's no fear of rubbing from the tires. Also, there is a big difference once you've changed them out. Your 'stang tacks straighter when you mash the go pedal. Happy motoring!

will these work on a 99' gt convertible?

rickmar Year: 1999 Model: GT

Good Question (0) (0)
  • Yes they will. I installed them on my 99 coupe and they are really helped with hard launches as my old stock units were worn out. The suspension set-up is the same on the convertible, so you will be good to go.

Make SURE you can use quad shocks BEFORE BUYING!

First, I'll admit that I'm new to Mustangs and made the mistake of not researching my 2004 V6's suspension requirements and parts prior to purchasing these quad shocks. I have decided to keep them as I will likely acquire and install the required hardware to utilize these quad shocks in the future. IF YOU HAVE A V6 MUSTANG, IT IS 99% LIKELY THAT YOU CANNOT INSTALL QUAD SHOCKS BECAUSE THE MOUNTING BRACKETS DID NOT COME AS A STANDARD FEATURE ON ANY V6'S. THE BRACKETS REQUIRED TO ATTACH QUAD SHOCKS ARE ONLY ON GT/COBRA/ETC. REAR ENDS. If you buy these or any other quad shocks for a V6, make SURE you have the required mounting brackets on your vehicle first. I will update my ratings as appropriate when I am able to actually install and use these shocks. Low ratings are due to the fact that NOWHERE did it specifiy the above information when i purchased them, and fitment lists a standard V6 as compatible, when it is, in fact, NOT compatible.

    too big...

The stock ones have thin arms for a reason, the arms on these are too wide and rub against the shock on hard cornering. Get oem ford ones or the bilsteins or any one that has smaller arms

    KYB Shocks

These shocks perform great out on the highway, high speed turns and especially no drama over speed bumps. Install was quick and easy. Installed with FRPP "B" springs, C/C Plates, Bumpsteer, and X-2 Balljoints. I'm very happy with ride comfort and control.

    keeping the rear inline.

I really noticed a difference in performance from my mustang. Contrary to popular belief your quad shocks are important to your mustangs performance. I asked several people about replacing them and they all said to just replace the lower control arms with some aftermarket ones because the quad shocks were trash. Well, they were wrong because my car accelerates much better now and I believe it is a simple fix especially considering you need to have a properly located rear and your alternative is to add a torque arm like an f-body. Do yourself a favor and get these shocks.

    Smart Purchase

These shocks added much more firmness to the rear end than I expected. After removing the factor quads (112,000 miles on them) both of them were of course completely shot. These KYBs made a big difference. I would definitly buy them again.

Excellent Product - A must for Suspension Upgrade

If you are upgrading or fixing you suspension don't stop at the shocks and struts, make sure you replace the quad shocks as well. You will notice the difference from your old worn out ones, these will help keep the power going to the wheels.
