"The Boom Tube" This MAC Performance Axle-Back System eliminates the restrictive stock mufflers entirely from your Mustang, to uncork the exhaust flow reducing back pressure for an increase in power and sound.

Resonator Tips. Often imitated but never duplicated, the MAC Boom Tube Axle-back Exhaust uses uniquely designed dual wall resonator tips that feature perforated baffles to provide a loud throaty exhaust note without the irritating popping of the imitators.

Durable Steel Construction. Constructed from 2.5" diameter mandrel-bent 304 stainless steel tubing, the Boom Tube axle-back system features polished 4" angle cut stainless steel dual wall tips for impressive muscle car styling and sound.

Application. The MAC "Boom Tube" Axle-Back exhaust system is designed to fit the 2005-2010 GT, 2008-2009 Bullitt, and 2007-2010 Shelby GT500 Mustangs for impressive looks and sound. This axle-back is made to be a direct bolt on to the stock location without any modifications required.

Please Note. MAC Performance does not make any claims that their Boom Tube exhaust will meet any federal or local noise regulations or laws. Please check your local and state ordnances for installation and usage regulations.

Technical Note: Americanmuscle recommends adding the 2005+ Mustang 304 Stainless Steel Exhaust Hanger Kit from the drop down option above, to provide more strength, stability and a cleaner installed appearance. If you have a 2007 Mustang you may need the kit for correct installation.

v6 dual exhaust? I have a 2008 grabber orange v6 with a single boom tube on it and I love the sound, so Ive decided to get duals. So I guess my question is can I justbuy the driver side one from AM instead of buying the axle back set?

  • Unfortunately, we don't have the dual axle-backs sold individually for each side. MAC direct might be able to work something out with you, but we only carry them as a pair.

Would this work with the Pypes True Dual system for a 2007 V6?

  • yes once you have a dual conversion, you can use any GT axle-back exhaust

Will this exhaust produce enough back pressure with long tube headers and off-road X pipe?

  • The MAC Boom Tube Axle-Back Exhaust (05-10 GT, GT500) will not produce any back pressure since this is a straight through pipe design. Your X pipe should provide you with enough back pressure, you will just want to have your car tuned properly and you can pick up some serious power without needing to add mufflers for more back pressure.

    Looks Great

Not quite what I expected. When they're cold they have a pop and cackle. After they warm up the sound does improve some. Not quite as loud as I'd hoped for, but way better than the stock exhaust. Could be just me as I have a hearing problem; but I hear a drone at highway speeds. Really nice look sticking out the back with the larger chrome tips, and a breeze to put on once the stock parts were removed. Took about an hour and a half total start to finish. All in all I would recommend these axlebacks.

I have had the Boom Tubes installed for about two years. When I start my car I always get looks and motorcycle riders on occasion have given a thumbs up. Faaarrr superior to the stock exhaust note. It is always refreshing to get such high performance at a low cost. Fitment was just fine as no further adjustments were required. You will not be disappointed.

    Great product, no drone.

I had this product installed along woth a MAC cut and clamp prochamber mid-pipe for the total cost of $150. The installer called me after the install to tell me how much he liked the sound. Needless to say, I was very impressed. The exhaust note was just what I was looking for. It was throaty and deep. There was even some improvement in performance, according to the installer. It it quiet at highway speed, but loud and aggressive when I punch the gas. I recomend this product to anyone wanting an aggressive exhaust sound without the drone at highway cruising speed.

Best sounding axel back out there

I have had 3 S197 mustangs and have tried many different brands of mufflers, many of them were much more expensive than these. In my opinion, these are the best sounding of them all. Very easy to install, but a little hard to get them perfectly alligned. By loosening the mid pipes they can be dialed in though. Very little resonance even with an automatic trans. They have a great, deep, muscle car sound that all the others I had tried were missing. Give them a try, you won't be sorry!

    Loud when you want it

This exhaust provides a good noticeable tone, it gets loud when you get on it, but is a nice quiet rumble when your cruising, which is good when your close to Johnny law. Installing them was easy, provided you have the necessary tools to do the job. Be sure to purchase some steel wool if you drive your car i'm the winter as they do accumulate some surface rust caused from salt. All in all though, I'm pretty satisfied with this product.

    Sounds great

But I'm having some rattling issues that seemingly come from inside the tips where the resonators are welded on. Especially when I get off the accelerator and slow down...Lots of squeaking too, but I'm fairly confident my muffler shop can fix that. The rattling, I'm not so sure...

    Love it

Ive been driving round with dumped mufflers for a few months. Gotta guy for inspection ;) its a little quieter now but sounds way cleaner. It was a toss up between this and slp loudmouths. Mac boom tubes dont have that raspy sound like slp. Im sold on these completely. Just gotta get my longtubes and offroad x-pipe. Thanx american muscle

    Wow. These sound amazing

These mac boom tubes complete my exhaust setup exactly what I wanted. My setup is Mac Long tube headers, Pypes Xpipe and boom tubes. These sound wicked get a lot of good looks. Some people get pd off tho and roll up their window... Very minimal drone at cruising speeds but when you open it up sounds amazing !!!

    Decent but I'm not impressed

Had them installed and they sound pretty good. Not loud at all in my opinion. A tad louder than factory though. They rattle all the time. I've had them bolted down and then welded down and they still rattle. Getting rid of them ASAP and going with another brand.

I've run many exhaust systems on a few different vehices, and I definitely like these the best. Absolutely NO highway drone! But when leaning into it you are CLEARLY heard. This axle back has a very nice deep growly tone to it, not raspy at all, and holds just enough back pressure with the ribbed tips. Stock exhaust volume is around 4/10 for loudness, I'd rate the boom tube's around 7.5/10. Definite recommend for someone wanting that awesome loud growl these 4.6's can make when opened up.

    Makes you want to drive

I'm very happy with my macs! Coupled with an off road x pipe they didn't have any rasp just a nice growl at low rpm and a high pitched iconic mustang tone at 3k rpm and up. Not to loud just right

Great quality, they sound amazing when you get on the throttle yet when you're at idle it's almost factory but a tad bit of a chop.

    THE MACS!!!!

Macs are way louder than stock But not annoying at all About 2 hour install on stock v8 I reccomend getting some new exhaust tape, to place under the clamps , to stop any air leak where the mid pipe and axle back connect.

    MAC DADDY!!!

My first question is why aren't these rated 5 stars!!??? These Mac booms are the best sounding axle back mufflers out there! Brings a deep clean rumble. Very easy to install. I have heard all kinds of exhaust setups for the S197 and these are the best sounding. I get so many compliments and people smile when they hear my exhaust. Not a lot of drone like most mufflers. Quit reading these reviews and purchase now! You won't regret it!!

They sound great! I had Pypes Violators and they were a little too quiet for me. These made the car sound exactly how I always wanted it to sound.

Clean look and much more aggessive than stock - 2010 GT Convertible

Fit: install was simple, no special mechanical ability or tools required. Simply take off the stock hangers and clamps and put on the new stuff. Definitely requires manipulation to get tips centered as it was way off at first but it can be perfected with some patients and adjusting of the hangers. Took me about an hour to get it installed, then another hour to get the fit the just right Sound: Aggressive and loud with a lopey idle that I really like and was looking for, the low RPM and wide open sound is great however the drone/volume is pretty strong in the 1700-2200 range. Under regular/ general acceleration it is a little too obnoxious in that drone range for my taste but it is not bad at all when consistently in that range like when using cruise control. The volume is great at low and wide open but for some reason it really amplifies and builds in the car at that key RPM range - and I imagine in a coupe is even more dramatic. The volume is good-loud in all the ranges but spikes to rattle your brain loud in that 2k area. Performance: no noticeable seat power gains but the aggressive sound definitely fits the build for a muscle car, if nothing else it feels faster simply because of the mental aspect. For normal driving I expected MPG's to at least stay the same or even gain a little when (if) I keep my foot out of it but unfortunately I have been driving it for over a week and even with resetting the computer I average 3-4 MPG less (cruise control). I don't drive a V8 mustang and expect prius commuting but I am disappointed in this noticeable drop and will certainly feel that in the wallet as I drive 80 miles a day. Overall I'm happy with it but I'm not as in love with it as I expected but mainly b/c of the volume spike in the drone range. If you want loud you will be very happy with this.

Mac Boom Tubes ROCK in the USA!!!

Much louder than the video on the website but with a throaty mean machine tone. Love them! After a little tweaking of the hangar mounts they fit right in the GT Bumper cutouts. The larger pipes fill up the area and really look great. I would recommend these pipes to anyone who wants a little bit more sound to soothe the beast in all of us gearheads!
