More Horsepower And Torque. Replace those restrictive factory manifolds with a set of MAC Long Tube Headers to improve your mustangs exhaust flow and increase your Pony's horsepower and torque. Increases of up to 42 RWHP have been seen when installed with a matching MAC shorty Mid Pipe.

High Quality Construction. Constructed from 1-3/4" mandrel bent 16 Gauge Steel tubing so there are no kinks to rob you of power, these MAC Performance Long Tube Headers feature 2-1/2" True Fit Collectors that eliminate the need for gaskets which are prone to leak and blow out. These headers are then completed in a bright chrome finish for good looks and a durable long life.

Recommended Upgrade. To realize the full power potential that these Long Tube Headers have to offer, AmericanMuscle recommends a custom tune with a Mustang Handheld Tuner to reprogram the vehicles computer (ECU) for proper operation.

Application. These MAC Performance Long Tube Headers are designed to fit the 2005-2010 4.6L 3V Mustangs with either a 5 speed manual or automatic transmission, including the GT and Bullitt models.

midpipe I just purchased these headers for my 08 shelby gt. Do I need to order the midpipe as well ? or would I be able to have the local exhaust shop make it custom ? Thanks AM.

  • Your local shop might be able to customize a shorty mid-pipe to fit with these Long Tubes. However, the MAC Shorty Mid-pipe is a direct fit for these Long Tubes. There's no telling how much a shop would charge for all that custom tube work. I'd highly recommend contacting some local shops in your area to discuss your plans with them so you'll have an idea which option would be better suited for you. Hope this helps!

Do i need any other modification for example 02 sensor extensions and will the tubes work for my 2010 mustang gt??

  • yes you will need o2 extenders , and either the mac pro chamber H pipe for long tube headers or like i have , 2.5 female ball collectors with 12" long 45 degree bent elbows to 2.5 i.d. band clamps , connecting to a xpipe back..

Do these need to be ceramic coated before installation to prevent rusting?

  • The MAC Chrome Long Tube Headers (05-10 GT) do not need to be ceramic coated, but it is definitely a good idea to do so. The ceramic coating will help prevent rusting while also dispersing heat soak a lot better than a chrome coating can. Heat soak eats up a lot of power that the engine is producing.

Question Resolved

SLP I'm still trying to put together the best exhaust and was curious if these Mac Longtubes will work with the SLP Catted Shorty X-Pipe and Flowmaster Outlaw Series Axle backs? Thanks AM

  • If you purchase the Mac Long Tube Headers, you want to stick with the MAC Shorty Mid-pipe for proper fitment. The axle-back does not bolt directly to your mid-pipe so you can choose whichever system you'd like. Please contact us if you have additional questions!

Can you use your stock catalytic converters with these headers? I'm trying to get the most bang for my buck and these headers are a good price, but I'm also trying to stay within my county restrictions. I have to have cats and most full exhaust systems are either off road applications or more expensive than what I want to pay.

  • I would just buy a MAC or other brand X pipe, or H-pipe with Hi flow converters and you will be good to go. I just installed a set of BBK long tube headers and X-pipe with cat converters on my 2010 Mustang GT. Now would be a good time to put polyurethane motor mounts on the car while the headers get swapped out also so you don't have to waste time or money in the future.

    Awesome old school upgrade

These headers were a breeze to install. They sound great and the performance is noticeable when paired with a tuner and O/R mid pipe. Because of the style of the hearders, my saggy stock motor mounts caused the driverside to hit the steering shaft. After some Polly motor mounts were on, there were no more clearance issues. I would suggest getting the mounts at the same time and installing them while your under there. It is easiet to install them while the stock manifolds are off and before the new long tubes are on.

A great buy for the blue collar guys..

Really love the deep sound it added to my exhaust, more bass less crackling of the mufflers. I picked up half a second in the 1/4 mile so the power added has proven itself. I was told by a local pro to reuse the factory gaskets....don't. Had a leak so I bought great quality gaskets and eliminated that issue quickly.

    Great Product

Great product. The price was great, and i had a shop install this for me. I also had the rest of the exhaust custom made, and i have pype bomb axel backs on it as well. It sounds great. I def. feel the difference with the headers installed. The stock manifolds were so restrictive. Gave the car a nice deep tone, and a muscle car roar. I love American Muscle. As a side point, don't forget to order o2 sensor extenders from AM will need these to connect the o2 sensors to the headers. The stock wires are not long enough. I forgot to order them, but had AM ship them next day for me, and i got them installed and the car is running perfect. I recommend this product.

    Sounds angry!

I will start by saying that this isn't something you want to do yourself if you don't have a garage full of tools and a lift. Luckily I had all that and it still took 7 hours. Real tight fit and I had to do a pretty good tear down of the undercarriage to fit them up, but when the job was done all I could do was grin. These headers paired with the prochamber are unbeatable. Sounds aggressive and gives you a very noticeable torque gain. Second gear just got more fun. Would definitely recommend.

    good for the price

good deal compared to all the stainless $1000. ones. easy install if you take the motor mount brackets out, only problem was it jambed into the steering shaft, had to dent the header slightly and shim the motor mount a bit, then it was all good, noticed a little power increase. I would of bought kooks if I had the cash, but these are worth the $$$

Mac lives true to the rumors.

These long tubes (off road) from Mac added about 35 RWHP after the dyno tune on my '10 GT. Previous modifications were; Roush CAI, Ford Racing intake manifold, Ford Racing 62mm throttle body, Ford Racing ported cylinder heads, Ford Racing hot rod camshafts, and Steeda under drive pulleys. Aside from the power gain, these long tubes sound low and throaty. I have the Mac pro chamber off road midpipe and couldn't be happier! I get a lot of compliments and questions on the exhaust set up. The shop owner even had a big grin on his face when he started it up for me when I was picking it up. The only slight negative I have so far is that the driver side header rubs slightly on the steering shaft when making hard right turns. It's not bad, just noticeable through a small vibration in the steering wheel. I think it's more of an issue in space rather than a design flaw. I've heard of MUCH more expensive brands doing the same thing on these cars. I guess something you have to live with if you want this modification. All in all, I'm in love with my car all over again. I wouldn't have done anything differently with it if given the option!

    Not worth it.

The fitment was okay, and the quality was what I expected for the price. Not bad but definitely not the best. Sound wise it's just not there. I was looking for a deep low tone so I coupled these headers with the Prochamber and Mac a/b. I have no complaints from the mid pipe back! These headers give off a tin can sound that is worth avoiding them all together. Performance gains are moderate at best, and after this trail and error I just can't see why somebody wouldn't just save up a little more scratch and go with a stainless or ceramic coated header! AM was Awesome as always! I'll be back to perfect my setup.

    MAC Long tubes!

First id like to say these long tubes were a pain to get in my 07 Shelby GT the drivers side header rubbed against the steering column for a while then got the header pipe rubbing against it adjusted. I defiantly got more power than expected and after I paired these with flow master super 10s its defiantly the loudest car in the county (:

These headers are the best bang for the buck out there. And IMO they are a lot better then those expensive ones. If you are thinking about getting these for your stang, do it and you won't regret it. The sound and finish off the product is outstanding. Even though all my neighbors hate me,I would buy these headers 100x over.

    LOOK's , sounds & feel........

In a nut shell, overall a very strong 4.5 out of 5. Fit's directly with no struggle . They look sexy , yet strong . The sound...." awsome" .... Great rough , raw sound... Starts deep and smooth , as you open up the throttle , you can hear that rough raw tone, almost angry, very aggressive. I have these bad boy's running straight through to a Bassanni X pipe and Bassanni axle back system. Sounds very distinct ,original , haven't herd a Pony with this sound yet . I guess it's the exhaust combo I have on my 06 GT . Very happy , & strongly recommend !!!!

    Mac Longtubes

They look good under the hood... they are one of the few brands with the 1 7/8 primaries ... good bang for the buck ... i had some 255 wide rear tires couldn't hold traction in 1st 2nd and hard chirp in the 3rd... got 275s now much better.. great quality to me.. little bit of a tight fit by driver side steering components.... but all in all good buy!!
