How to Install Magnaflow Competition Axle-Back Exhaust on your Mustang

Part 1. Pre-installation:
Before you start, first make sure you have everything out of box (refer material packing list). Read through all the documents that come with the parts and this installation guide. While this installation is easier to be done on a lift, jack stands works as well. If you are working on a relatively old vehicle, make sure you have a spray lubricant prepared.

It’s 5 inches from the factory pipe hanger pin end to a straight pipe portion where the cutting point lines up to the rare differential.

2. Cut the factory pipe:
Cut the pipe with a Sawzall or a hand saw, make sure you have a clean straight cut, then untighten the factory pipe hanger screw shown in picture(use lubricant if needed), to take off the axle-back portion of factory exhaust.

Use the hand file to give the resonator end pipe cut a good filing.

3. Put on Magnaflow parts:
With the factory muffler portion removed, now you can put on the Magnaflow competition series, make sure the 2.25” clamp go on the connection of the Magnaflow inlet pipe (to factory piping), the 2.5” clamp go on the connection of Magnaflow competition series muffler (to inlet pipe).

Slide the inlet pipe through on both end, engage inlet pipe hanger pin into the factory hanger then tighten the hanger back in place, slide Magnaflow muffler hanger pin into factory hanger.
Use some sort of supporting rod to make final adjustment until it fits perfectly to your mustang.
4. Tighten the two clamps up.
Torque specifications recommend by Magnaflow: 40-45 ft-lbs.
5. Repeat step 1 to 4 on the other side with the exact same manner
Remember to take your time doing the fine adjustment, make sure the piping is slide all the way through with a good attachment.

6. Post-installation check:
Make sure the exhaust tips match the position on each side and without any contact of the Mustang rear bumper. Finished photo:

7. Finish installation
After installation on both sides, your Magnaflow Competition Axle-Back exhaust system for your 15-17 Mustang V6 or EcoBoost shall be finished, fire it on and enjoy!
Notes:
The proper fitment of this part, Magnaflow Competition Series Axle-Back (Part No.19179) will fit 15-17 Mustang V6 and Mustang EcoBoost, all picture shown above is installation being performed on a 2017 Mustang V6, but this fitment information has been confirmed by the manufacturer.
In addition, this part will fit both fastback and convertible models, but in convertible models make sure to remove all underbody bracing before installation.
After first 25-50 miles of driving, inspect all the fasteners see if re-tighten is needed.
