I have a 2004 mustang manual transmission and my clutch adjuster (plastic piece) is worn and it keeps going out of the grooves and the tranny gets stuck in whatever gear I am at the time. I have to turn off the engine and shift to 2nd gear and pull off in a safe area and get in under the dash and pull it back in place. I need to replace that plastic piece with a metal. Any ideas? Thanks much!!

  • The McLeod Hydraulic Clutch Conversion Kit (96-04 GT) will definitely help with your worn adjuster problem. This kit will convert your cable clutch linkage to a hydraulic linkage which is more efficient for the best shifting. The new upgraded quadrant will definitely fix your problem of getting stuck in gear. Not to mention, it will help prevent synchro damage as well.

What is the difference between this kit and the previous kit? http://www.americanmuscle.com/mcleod-hydraulic-clutch-7904.html I successfully installed the old kit in a T56, but I need to install it in another Mustang with a T56. Are there clearance issues now and it no longer fits Cobras?

MustangMike

  • The Conversion Kit is an upgrade from the old Kit that you purchased. The new Kit is only designed for 96-04 GT Mustangs. Though, the old kit was designed for all 79-04 V8 Mustangs. With that being said, you may have some fitment issues installing this new Kit on a Cobra.

Question Resolved

Can this Conversion hold up to high torque? Hi i am planning my build for my mustang and i am planning on lowering my mustang more then the already 2" it is and i need to be able to control the car easily at very low speeds for speed bumps and what not and i am planning to have the torque in between 450 to 500 lbs and i was wondering if this would be a good upgrade and be able to hold the power because im planning on getting a stage three clutch as it is.

LowWhitePony

  • Excellant upgrade for you. This product does not have much to do with your torque, it will just help with easier and smoother engagement of the clutch. Yes, it will work fine.

    Great product

Compared to a cable clutch it's like night and day. Took a while to bleed the throw out bearing but once bled its awesome. McLeod instructions are garbage and pics are near impossible to see. Had to search the web to figure out how to bleed the product. I would definitely recommend this to anyone but be prepared to spend some time on the bleeding process..
