Hey everyone, Justin with AmericanMuscle.com here, and this is my general overview of McLeod’s Street Pro clutch, available for all 86-2010 Mustang GTs. Before I really start breaking down this clutch I just want to remind you guys to subscribe to our YouTube channel if you haven’t done so already simply by clicking on the banner below, or on the AM logo up in the corner at any point during this video. McLeod’s been around for over 40 years and are no strangers to the Mustang world, in fact they’ve designed clutches and drive line products for both Roush and Saleen, and even supplied flywheels for the Cobra R and 03 and 04 terminator Cobras. The Street Pro was designed to be a factory replacement or a stage 1 equivalent, holding roughly 350-400 horsepower, and 450-500 ft/lbs of torque depending on your application. If you would like to step it up a little bit McLeod does offer a Super Street Pro clutch, which of course will offer a little bit more power and torque. Either way if you’re not sure what clutch would be best for your setup, don’t be afraid to get in touch with one of our Mustang experts. The street pro features an organic based sprung hub disc, along with their signature red pressure plate, which together will give you a pedal strength slightly heavier than stock, with better clamping load, and holding capabilities. The clutch also includes a new pilot bearing and alignment tool, which will be needed for the install. McLeod’s street pro clutch is offered with a standard 10 spline option which is something a majority of Mustang owners with stock transmission will use, however if you’ve upgraded your input shaft in your transmission, you’ll be happy to know that McLeod does offer the street pro clutch in a 26 spline option, which is something other clutch manufacturers don’t always offer. As for the install, well we typically call any clutch job about 4 hours from start to finish. If you’ve never dropped a transmission before we definitely recommend getting this one done by your local shop, however if this is just another day in the garage for you, leave yourself a nice Saturday or Sunday afternoon in the garage to get the job done.     Great street clutch

    High quality clutch and pressure plate. Some people were saying they had issues with the pressure plate spacer. I used it as directed in the instructions and had zero issues. I would definitely use Mcleod's matching flywheel. Super nice stuff for the price. Comes with a good throw out bearing too. Do yourself a favor and grab a pilot bearing, clutch fork, and pivot ball.

    Stock-like Drivability with Tire Burning Bite

    Installed this and the McLeod Lightened Steel Flywheel together. Also install FRPP Quadrant, FRPP Firewall Adjuster, and MM Cable. This setup has stock-like drivability with smooth pedal effort. Engagements are soft and progressive, no jerky non-sense when driving around town. When it comes to having fun however, this clutch is crisp with no hesitation. Absolutely spot-on engagements making for quick acceleration, or a nice smokey burn-out if that's what your after. Buy this Clutch with the McLeod Flywheel for best results.

    I have 150 miles on it so far. It feels like the stock clutch. Installation took about 4 hrs . Looking forward to trying out after break in.

    Pros and Cons

    Pros: This assembly is very well constructed for the $. Installation was easier then other clutch assemblies I've used. It has good grip, and smooth shifts. I also installed the: SR Performance Clutch Adjuster Kit from AM. Also recommended. Cons: None yet.

    easy on the leg

    Installed this clutch in my 02 gt and so far so good. Just hit the 50 mile break in and its gripping nice! Not as stiff as some clutches so thats a plus.

    Great clutch for the money

    Installed clutch on new built motor and so far this thing grips hard. Haven't been able to beat on the clutch yet as it's still on break-in along with the motor, but can say that it definately feels better than the oem clutch replacement I had.

    She's back and running strong

    I'm still in the break in period,so it will be several hundred more miles until I can really push my pony. But the feel of this clutch is exceptional. It pulls smoothly through the gears. Previously, I was experiencing a sputter in fourth and fifth under heavy acceleration, but along with the clutch I also installed the Ford racing 2v ignition coils and WOW!!! What a difference. Car performs like new.

    Did Not Work

    Because of the ring, it did not allow the fingers on the clutch to sink enough - not allowing the tranny to mate with the engine. If you install the clutch kit without the ring, the fingers sink allowing the tranny to mate with the engine perfectly. However, Mcleod says the ring is needed because the clutch is to thick. Not worth the chance!

    Best choice for daily driver.

    Needed to replace my clutch that was shot .Was not sure at first which one to get .Decided on this one along with their lightened steel flywheel.Best decision I could of made.You wont be sorry with this set up.Smooth as can be.Easy on the leg with great grip.Better than stock.Miles of smiles all day.

    Not what I was expecting out of this clutch...

    So first off, I would like to say that yes, this clutch does grab well. It also is not much heavier than the stock clutch either. My problem with it is that even after 2000 miles of city driving, following every installation instruction and break in procedure carefully, resurfacing the flywheel, and making sure every surface is as clean as physically possible, the clutch still chatters terribly. It has chattered since the day of install, and to this day, still chatters like it did on the first day. This is very bothersome to me (since I can no longer have a smooth ride/launch) and also to passengers who question if my car is supposed to shudder during every launch.
