The template was so so. The install wasn't bad and didn't take long. The fit isn't perfect. The left side looks good but the right gaps a bit. Overall it makes my car look sick.

Hey I’m Justin with AmericanMuscle.com, and I’m checking out MMD’s unpainted, and pre painted hood scoop available for all 2013 and newer Mustangs. If you’re not familiar with MMD, here’s what you need to know: they continue to produce a wide variety of totally unique exterior and interior appearance parts for your Mustang that do offer both functionality and style. If you’re not already watching this video on our site and you want to learn more about what MMD can do for your ride, just click on the link below. Alright, so when this hood scoop was initially release, I have to admit I was a little apprehensive of how it would look with the factory hood vents on all 13 and 14 hoods. Well, after we installed it on project Coyote back there, I will admit I became a fan. Speaking of Project Coyote, if you guys want to stay up to date with all of our latest project car videos along with some product overviews on all of your favorite parts, you have to subscribe to our YouTube channel, just click on the link below or on the AM logo up in the corner at any point during this video. The crew at MMD actually designed this scoop to work in harmony with those factory hood vents, complimenting them without being too much or being over the top. The scoop sits perfectly between those hood vents, and actually as you can see the forward angle on the scoop here matches the angle of the factory hood, giving the whole front end a much more aggressive look. In addition, the honeycomb insert matches the factory grille perfectly, making the entire package blend seamlessly with the front of the car. Another reason this scoop blends seamlessly with the rest of the car is factory quality paint job from our in house state of the art paint booth. Our paint crew sprays all of our American Muscle pre painted parts, with the same base and clear coat that Ford uses in their factories, of course making for an excellent paint match, but more importantly saves you the trouble of having to get these parts painted yourself. Of course if you do have a paint hookup or you’d rather spray these parts yourself, you can always purchase the unpainted version here for a few bucks less. Both the unpainted and pre painted version include the drilling template, along with everything you see here to get the scoop installed. You will need to drill a few holes into your hood to get the scoop installed properly, but if you take your time, follow the detailed instructions and use the included template, you should have no problem banging this one out in about an hour from start to finish. Of course if you did want to bounce a couple of questions off our Mustang experts first, you can shoot them an email at support@AmericanMuscle.com, and feel free to give them a call at 855-422-7439. So if you’d like to take the already aggressive front end of the 13 and 14 Mustangs to the next level, then you have to check out MMD’s unpainted or pre painted hood scoop, available right here at AmericanMuscle.com.

When driving, does this hood scoop take away a little visibility? Does this hood scoop interfere even in the slightest? That is honestly the only thing holding me back from buying it!

I bought and installed this hood scoop about nine months ago. I am very please with the appearance and it makes my car look mean. I noticed the 3M tape as trunk a bit and I can see sunlight thru the tiny gaps due to not using a continuos piece tape on initial install. What would be the best way to remove the scoop without damaging it or my hood and remove the old tape and replace it with a continous strip?

Review from MMD Hood Scoop - Pre-painted (13-14 GT, V6)

    MMD Hood Scoop - 2014 GT ... SCORE !!!!!

I had a 2012 GT with the OEM scoop ... loved it ... and have been eagerly awaiting a suitable one for the 2014. MMD nailed it with this product. Not including a little prep work, the install took less than an hour - including my nailbiting while drilling thru my new car's hood. I might add two details to the otherwise pretty good instructions ... ONE: DO NOT drill the two 1/2 inch hole enlargements for the front two bolts all the way thru the hood - just thru the "hood framework" to allow access to the bolt with nut and washer, tightening same against the 1/4 inch hole drilled from the top. And TWO: DO NOT use the 3M Adhesive Promoter on any painted surfaces, just on the plastic underside of the new scoop and grill insert. I used a little extra rubbing alcohol on a microfiber cloth to "clean" the hood area for adhesion. The adhesive promoter provided was on my fingertips and seemed to "etch" the paint on the new scoop, which I was thankfully able to rub out with a little 3M compound I had on hand. Otherwise I am VERY happy with this product. It truly looks like an OE option and adds to the GT Style.

Review from MMD Hood Scoop - Pre-painted (13-14 GT, V6)

    Aggressive Modification

Let's be honest, the project MMD car showed this thing off like a badass. I finally pulled the trigger on the black friday sale, and I will say I am happy with the results. What YOU need to know before you buy it: 1. If you're a perfectionist, you might be upset with the fit. Where the hood meets the scoop where the screws are pulling them together, the fit is super close, and where the screws aren't, there's a slight gap. *You will only notice if you are looking very closely. 2. The paint match is exact, no issues there. 3. The stencil is just ok, as it is hard to maneuver around the curvature of the hood. Just measure every direction several times and pull really tight with masking tape. 4. The 2 screws for the front part do not come all the way out the bottom of the hood, making getting the washers and nuts on almost impossible. And the washers are bigger than the half inch hole you drill...So I had to use some old smaller washers I had laying around. (Why I won't give 5 stars, stupid mistake imo). Bottom Line: Great looks for a great price, but there are a few things MMD could have done better. Check out the pictures, recently uploaded white mustang with black vents.

Review from MMD Hood Scoop - Pre-painted (13-14 GT, V6)

    Looks Great

I'd give 5 stars on this but I ended up with a gap in front corner on the drivers side. It appears as if the bolt pulled a buckle in the hood causing this. It's not horrible but disappointing on a brand new car. For the average onlooker it's not immediately obvious. I get tons of compliments on my car as it's totally dressed out with parts from AM

Makes a Mustang really look like a nasty muscle car

This hood scoop was just the finishing touch to my tricked put 2014 V6. The only problem or set back was the template did not quit match the bolt pattern on the scoop. So be sure to set the hood scoop on the pattern to check the hole spacing. Just check it and make any needed adjustments. Follow the instructions exactly as stated when appling the two sided tape and you will end up with a really cool addition to your Mustang

Review from MMD Hood Scoop - Pre-painted (13-14 GT, V6)

    Great Look!

I have been waiting for a product like this since I got my '13 over a year ago. I had some small concerns prior to purchasing but I got great support from Alex in Customer Service. The Scoop arrived in one day (Wow!). Took a little bit longer than expected to install but because I had to drill holes in my hood, I did not want to risk being even 1/32 of an inch offline. The install went exactly as instructions indicated and those directions are spot on. With some of the mods I have on my Stang I get lots of looks and nods of the head. With the scoop on the hood, guys are pulling up next to me at lights and rolling down their windows to pay homage. Real "Muscle" car look! Thanks American Muscle!!
