Reduce Sludge. Reduce engine sludge in your 5.0 by diverting nasty "blow-by" (a combination of exhaust gases and oil) into a Moroso Air/Oil Separator a.k.a. "catch can" where the contaminated oil is separated out from the exhaust gases before being recycled back into the intake to be re-burned, thus preventing the used oil from re-enter the system to gum up your engine.

Superior Quality Materials. The body of this Moroso Air/Oil Catch is constructed from billet aluminum for strength and has a polished finished to complement your Mustangs engine compartment. The Moroso separator features 1/2" inlet and outlet fittings, and includes a 32" length of 3/8" rubber hose.

Can I use it in my cars OBA (on board air) system, air pressure is 140 psi.

  • If you are asking if you can put this inline with your OBA system to remove oil from the compressor, yes it could be used that way. If you are asking if it will work with your engine, in a Mustang with an OBA, the answer is also yes. Good Luck!

How easy (or difficult) is it to drain the oil from this can ? I see the curved drain tube, but space seems to be cramped down there...

  • I use a typical water bottle to drain it, then close it off and put a rag to collect any drops that inventively come out.

Drivers Side Can you use this on the Drivers side as well and if need be just used longer hoses

  • It will work but the bracket is manufactured to be installed on the tower brace bolts on the passenger side. If you have a metal brake or some way to modify the bracket, it will work on the drivers side. I have two on my GT, the standard passenger side separator and one that I modified the bracket for usage on the drivers side. It is a really nice piece of kit and I highly recommend it. Good luck.

Works great but requires better hose and extra fittings.

The seperator works flawlessly it self, but the hose leaves a lot to be desired for the price. I installed this on my stock 2013 Boss 302 in the described location, fittment was great once I trimmed down the strut brace. The problem I found was that the hose was making some sharp bends comming of the factory fittings. With non spirited driving the hose would get hot and collapse. To remedy this I used 90's with an fittings to achive the radius and got better hose. Issues are gone now but all in all I feel this kit should be cheaper or equiped better.

Despite the terrible black and white photos (mostly black!) on the instruction sheet, I was able to install this well made: chrome looks thick and bright, stainless steel bracket, hoses and fittings that were easy to connect air/oil separator with no glitches in approximately 30 minutes. I have an after market strut tower brace and I did not remove it to do this work as the instructions said. Saved time not removing the 8 bolts. I did install 4 washers under the ss bracket where it goes over the brace so not to destroy the edge of the brace. Included 2 Moroso stickers to make up for the lousy pictures!

    Moroso Air/Oil Separator

Nice product. No O rings to wear out, no plastic fittings, product is firmly mounted, not just hanging from a piece of hose. Works as intended. Removed a surprising amount of oil, based on granny driving style and automatic transmission. Design allows for a quick and easy drain without taking anything apart. No muss, no fuss. Might get one for the diesel generator on the boat

    Excellent product

As mentioned by other review, the quality of the can is excellent. Mounting bracket seems out of place since its plain metal while everything else is finished. The only complaint is that the directions don't mention that you won't be able to completely thread the hose fittings and drain. They only went in about a turn and a half on the hoses. I thought maybe I had some bad threading and had to look at other installs to see that they also had most of the thread showing. Other than that, the directions are amazingly detailed. Rear connection is a bit tight fitting, at least on my 2014. The guide makes it look like its a nice smooth arc but its more trial and error trimming down the length to get it to make the connection without too much stress on the valve connection or kinking the hose.

    Room for improvement.

The canister and mount are amazing quality. But the fittings / hoses could use some work. I like the idea of being able to drain the oil from the bottom. But the gold fitting is at a 90° angle causing oil to not fully drain from the small tube. The orange plastic piece that attaches to the 90 degree drain pipe has spot welded itself to the drain pipe making it extremely hard to remove. With the under hood temps it seems to have "shrinky dink'd" itself onto the drain pipe. The fittings are at a sharp 90 degree angle, causing the hose to want to kink. Adding the fittings to the canister is tricky. They sit at a very odd position when snug so you have to tighten / loosen the fitting to position it where you want it to sit. I recommend installing your hose onto your fitting before you attach the fitting on to the canister. I am sure my canister is not working properly. My fittings were loosened when trying to install them, causing them to be positioned at an odd angle when snug. My hose now seems to pull my fitting lose from the canister.I am not sure if i distorted the fittings or the canister itself, but the fittings are facing odd directions when they were snug. Add the hose to the mix and it will pull on the fittings causing them to come loose. I am going to try and figure out a way to install a 45° fitting that can be tightened without having to rotate the whole fitting. I also would like to replace my current hose with an oil rated nylon braided hose. I expected so much more for the price. But would not go with anything else i have seen on the market if that makes any sense.

    Good Product

When you open the box you can tell this is a quality, well made item. Installation was easy even though the instructions are not all that great. The only reason I gave 4 in stead of 5 stars was I have not had enough time to test the performance, but I am sure it will be up to par. Would recommend this product.

Moroso Oil Separator - 2012 Mustang GT 5.0

The installation on this thing was straight forward and easy. It firmly mounts and does not simply "dangle" like the competitor's oil separator. I highly recommend this item even though it costs a little more. I don't regret this purchase and would buy it again in a heartbeat. After a 350 mile round trip, I emptied approximately 4 tbsp of oil out of mine. Great investment for my Coyote!

    Moroso Oil separator

I recently purchased this Moroso separator and I am quite impressed with it. It is much higher quality than many of the other oil separators I have seen other Mustang enthusiasts using. The mounting bracket and position for it also are far superior to other brands out there. Most others just hang loosly while this one is hard mounted to the strut tower brace. As well this Moroso separator has a drain valve located on the bottom which makes it very easy to empty. All in all, a superior product. Thank you Moroso and American Muscle!!

    Top quality product

This was very easy to install and the directions were clear. I took my time not wanting to damage the pic fittings that must be used and removed from the stock plastic hose. I added a zip tie to hold the return hose away from the oil filler cap. See my picture.

    Must have Coyote upgrade!

I'd read quite a bit about PCV oil off the passenger side of the 5.0L engines, so I decided to give this a try. First off, it looks fantastic under the hood. Very nice compliment to the factory Track Pack strut tower brace. The install was really straight forward thanks to some of the most detailed instructions I've seen in an aftermarket part. If the photos were in color, they'd be perfect, as a couple are a little hard to see. But descriptions are terrific and they don't skip even minor detail steps that should be self-explanatory. Some minor (I do mean very minor, I give this 5 stars all day): 1. The can and the loop that holds it to the bracket are beautifully finished and really show quality. But the bracket is just a piece of steel cut and bent to shape. Takes away from it just a little bit. 2. The instructions were so detailed, the only thing that could make them better is color photos. A couple were a little hard to see, but the instructions made up for it for the most part. 3. Include the PCV connectors. I bought a second PCV hose so I could retain the stock one, and pillaged the connectors from that. For the price, the connectors should be in the package. I do need to note, when I put this on, my car only had 15 miles on it...literally drove it home from the dealer to install this. I was surpised at the amount of oil already accumulated in the stock line that you take off. Makes a catch can a crucial piece IMO.

A Good Air/Oil Separator for the Money

I looked at all of the different brands of air/oil separators that were offered by AM. Although a bit more costly than some of the others, the Moroso unit offered a rugged mounting bracket and the ability to drain the catch container without removal from the engine compartment. The container is nicely polished and engraved with the Moroso logo on top. The mounting bracket is not polished and I took the easy way out and painted the bracket with high-heat gloss black paint, which matches the engine compartment of my all-black 2012 GT. I have only had the separator on for a few hundreds of miles so haven't check it yet, so can't really comment on its efficiency, but like other Moroso parts I have used in the past, I am sure it works as advertised. I mounted this unit on the passenger side and plan to purchase another kit for the driver's side PVC valve to ensure I catch all of the oil mist before it enters the intake tract. I am unsure why some reviews have stated that it is necessary to purchase additional fittings or hoses. The install is clean and works perfectly without any modifications. Highly recommended.

    Nice Look

I bought this product because I read in several forums that it would work. I love the appearance andd how easy it is to put together, will not fit where the instructions say to intall it on a 2010 Roush 427R. The inlet is in the way and I was ot about to try to drill any kind of holes on my car. So I improvised! I submitted a pix of a blue mustang with the Moroso oil separator near the brake master cylinder. It is free floating for now until I can find some kind of bracket. Lucky it sits just fine, doe not move hardly at all.
