NITTO NT05R Competition Radial. NITTO's all-new NT05R is a DOT compliant competition drag radial designed for the serious drag racing enthusiasts. The dual-purpose sidewall construction and the all-new specialized race compound enhance traction during launch and delivers stability at the top end. This results in reliable consistent control from the tire. The NT05R will launch you off the line quickly and down the track with speed and confidence.

DOT Approved. This NITTO Extreme Performance NT05R Drag Radial can be run on the street and delivers up to 15,000 miles of tread life in normal street driving. However, this soft and flexible tread will wear much quicker than tread compounds formulated for regular passenger cars.

Maximum Traction on the Track. The NT05R is manufactured with a large center tread block that provides a continuous contact patch with the ground, along with NITTO's new drag specific engineered tire compound to provide excellent dry traction on the street or the strip.

5 Year Warranty. This NITTO Tire comes with a 5-year warranty from the date of purchase. Some limitations do apply. Please see the Full NITTO Warranty disclosure for details.

I had just asked a question about 305 size tire verse the 315 nitto according to measurements it's like a quarter inch difference why would you say it is gonna rub

roush2012

  • A 10mm difference is actually a bit closer to a 1/2" difference (0.39 inches roughly.) On paper this may not sound like much, but in some instances that extra rubber is all it takes to rub the fender well. A 315 is very wide tire which is why many people stick to 305 or perhaps even less wide (i.e 275/285.) The amount your tires will rub and if they will rub at all can be influenced by other factors (i.e. rim size, backspacing, offset, lowered suspension, etc.) That is why Ashley previously said they may rub, rather than they will rub.

I have a 2015 roush stage 3 I have the nitto 555 305 in the back witch are good but need new tires will the nt05r 315 height wise and width fit I dnt want them sticking out of the wheel well I dnt think there is a big difference between the 305 the 315

roush2012

  • A 315 tire is going to be a good amount wider than a 305. You may have some rubbing issues when it comes to a wider tire.

  • This tire will be too big to fit on a 20x9 unfortunately. I would recommend a 285/30-20 tire instead.

Mt regular street tires are Nitto's NT555's, and I love 'em, but with my current state of mods, they spin at the starting line if I load the torque converter. Nitto's NT04R fixed that problem and lowered my 60' by almost 2/10ths. I don't street race so can't say what they'd be like No-Prep, but can say they work great at the strip and are a bargain compared to the MT's.

    NT05R Review

Mounted these to my factory 17x9 10th anny wheels for street duty when not on my Bogart drag rims. These tires look awesome and hardly bulge, for any of those wondering. They hook pretty decent on a 450-500rwhp car on the street. Haven't been in the rain, nor will my car ever see it, but as expected and with previous experience with DRs or slicks traction does suffer a little.

These tires are great! I got about 350hp in my 04 GT 5 speed and was able to launch at 3500rpms on the street and it was all launch no spin. About 5k on the strip and man you rip right out. Very nice and cheaper than mickey thompsons.

Will hook very well on the street

I have a 2004 cobra with a whipple 2.3 supercharger. Current rwhp is 560 and 541 rwtq. Trying to hook this amount of power on the street with a standard radial is a no..no. I would get wheel hop with a radial..now with my nto5r's the wheel hop is gone and i can dead hook from a dig or roll. I highly recommend the nto5r's if u have anything over 450 rwhp. They may not last as long on the street due to the soft compound but imo. it doesn't matter. I would rather not loose to a car that has a couple hundred hp less than me because i couldn't hook the power.

Review from NITTO Extreme Performance NT05R Drag Radial - 315/35R20 (05-17 All)

    Big grip for big power

2013 GT with 10-11lbs of boost making a dyno proven 670bhp. (560rwhp). My garage looks like a tire store due to all the tires I have tried. Finally my search for grip is over. These tires are amazing and perfect if you want to put power to the ground. Soft R compound for grip with a relatively stiff sidewall that still gives good cornering performance. I used to spin in 1st, 2nd and 3rd and now it just hooks. If your tired of getting beat of the line, these tires are the answer. I love them! They also look amazing. It does slip easy in the rain, so recommend driving slow and careful, but it's not a rain tire! It does exactly what it's advertised to do and I will be buying two more when these wear out. For cornering or road track driving I take the 20's off the back and put the 19's back on with a shorter side wall tire which gives more accurate cornering. The NT05R is the best choice I have found for a DR that can also work on a daily driver.

    Awesome improvement NT05R

If you have a powerful car and traction is a problem, you need these tires. I was doing right well with my stock Pirrellis, or at least I thought I was, until I mounted these Nitto NT05Rs and then the difference was unbelieveable. With more than 400 HP to the wheels, I decreased my 1/4 mile ETs by 2/10s + seconds. Give them a try.

Review from NITTO Extreme Performance NT05R Drag Radial - 285/40R18 (05-14 All)

    pretty happy

My decision to go with the Nittos was only because they were the only tire height/width for my 18x9 rears that i needed, and after previously owning a set of used 555R's, i was certainly worried these werent gonna live up to my expectations. My first(and only thus far) track day with them was in 45 degree weather so I was kind of paranoid that id not get the best out of them, and i surely doubt i did but i was able to cut 60 foots in the 1.8x range(3.73/cai/tune only 3v) with 15-16ish psi cold in them, and a pretty weak first gear burnout. I imagine with a little bit more of a smoke show and some good weather I'd see 1.7s pretty easily. The only performance downside i see is the fact that they're 18 inch with little side wall, but obviously thats the price you pay when you want an 18 inch radial. Streetability is where I was most impressed though, I previously ran nitto 555's(street tire, not the R) for the past few years and honestly i dont feel a difference just driving around between the two. The only slight issue you may have is when its warmer out, alot of tiny gravel is gonna stick to the tires. Anyone who truely wants a tire that you can DD and hook hard at the track all in the same package, I definately recommend them, and if you're debating between the 555R and the NT05R, don't hesitate to get the nt05r.

    Very nice drag radials

I am very impressed with these drag radials. I use them on my '13 GT strictly for the strip and launch at 3500 with superb traction. Just to note, I'm running 15psi. Being lower profile, there isn't much sidewall so don't expect to be able to launch high RPMs with 44psi. :)
