Will this also work with long tube pacesetter headers

  • not quite the headers will push the Hpipe back too far to run a gt catback, but with modifications can be possible

Will the catalytic converters quiet the loudness down? I have a '99 V6 & was definitely looking to get a deeper, lower growl using this H-Pipe. It says it reuses the cats, so does that quiet it down a bit or is that just for emissions purposes?

DonaldDuck Year: 1999 Model: V6

  • It will not be as loud if it uses the cats but it is illegal to run on the roads cat less. Try looking up some youtube videos of your car cat less and you will hear the difference!

X-pipe or the Adapter Kit? So just wondering, I'm going to be getting an x-pipe and then a GT dual cat back exhaust for my '04 V6, would I need this adapter pipe and then an H-pipe to do a full dual exhaust conversion? Or can I just buy an X-pipe and an exhaust system and call it a day?

mattydubs Year: 2004 Model: V6

  • If you used this adapter kit, you'd reuse your stock cats and have a crossover H-pipe design, then connected to a GT catback. If you want to have an X-pipe instead of the H-pipe design, simply purchase the X-pipe made for the 2004 V6, install the GT catback of your choice and you're good to go! Hope this helps!

Great for a V6 Stock to True Dual Conversion

I purchased this adapter kit when I purchased my Flowmaster American Thunder GT Catback exhaust. I had it professionally installed because it does require welding to the existing headers/cats. It was installed with the dual exhaust and everything went on very well. I cannot really comment on the difference in sound of this part alone, since I had them installed together, but the overall sound going from Stock V6 to True Duals from the catalytic converters has drastically increased the sound level. The sound is the perfect low growl I was hoping for, and many people think I am running a V8 now instead of a V6. It is not raspy at all. My only complaint is that I get some occasional ticking/rasp at 3000RPM (only once in a while), which I believe is because the bolts in this kit have come a bit loose. All I need to do for that, though, is have it tightened up. There was no leak in the pipes or welds when I had them inspected. All in all, this was a great purchase, although I am not sure that a local shop couldn't fabricate something themselves for cheaper, so I would check that option first.

    the truth on true dual

I bought this H pipe alongside a Flowmaster American Thunder cutback and installed at the machine shop i work at with our welder, and it took the two of us about 5 hours to put in only working with ramps and a fork truck. Definitely not a do-it-yourself job; unless you have access to metal fabrication machinery, you should have it installed at a full shop. The two systems paired together make for a great sound, unless you really know what your listening for, you would think its a V8 with a nice exhaust, not just a V6. I would definitely recommend getting the real deal, this true dual exhaust instead of just a Y-pipe cat back. Not only does it sound better, but you will actually see more power out of this system than just a cutback. All-in-all there is no beating the real thing.

    Love this thing

This adapter is perfect in my 2000 v6. I did quite a bit of research and heard the h-pipe would give a deeper sound than the x-pipe and I fully back that statement. With almost no experience under the car I just followed the instructions to the T and it was a pretty easy install. One thing to take note: You HAVE to be very accurate where you cut your stock y-pipe (assuming you're doing it yourself and didn't bring it to a shop) or it won't sit right. Also, if you are installing the dual exhaust yourself do NOT tighten the clamps on the h-pipe adapter until you have everything where you want it or you will never be able to move it and the new exhaust won't sit straight. In all, great product and pretty easy to install if you follow the instructions given :)

    Great item for sixers

I bought this to install the borla s type gt exhaust on my 2000 v6, and it fit perfect after cutting the y pipe, you do have to make an almost perfect cut or you will have an exhaust leak and it will come with instructions on where and how to make the cut. My car doesn't sound anything near to a stock and all it is is an intake and this adapter with a borla exhaust and already sounds like monster gt. I love turning it on next to v8 owners bc it def turns heads specially when you rev it up.

    Shocked: With MAC catback

Had this h pipe put on my 2002 v6 along with the MAC catback system and was completely shocked the first time I heard it start up. Gives a much louder and deeper tone to my car now and Im not afraid to start my v6 in front of GT owners anymore! Also noticed an increase in power, I would estimate around 10-12 hp gain. I recommend the MAC system with it, not only is it the cheapest but also the loudest! Trust me you will not be disappointed. Thanks AM!

    Worth Every Penny

I got this for my V6 2004 horsey and I threw on a GT Borla Dual Exhaust and the sound was amazing. It IS a tight fit, I installed it myself. Just have to make sure you cut in the right spot where the directions tell you too and put it on the right way otherwise it will hang too low if you throw it on the wrong way. You don't HAVE to weld it but its recommended due to the fact if you don't, it'll have more chance of leaks. Overall this was money well spent! Thanks American Muscle!

    Killer H-Pipe!!!!

I had this installed along with the Flowmaster American Thunder exhaust on my 2002 V6. My mechanic charged me $150 for the whole dual exhaust install. The H-Pipe fit absolutely perfectly. As far as bang for your buck goes, this product takes the cake. Excellent performance gain as well. I felt it as soon as I peeled out of the shop parking lot. The exhaust sounds better everyday. This is a must buy for any dual exhaust conversion. Thanks AM!

Makes it easy to use GT Cat-Back

Used it in front of the Magnaflow Dual Catback Exhaust (99-04 V6) Sounds, and works great! Made the install of the GT system a piece of cake.

    Amazing but can be annoying.

I bought the pacesetter H pipe with a GT catback exhaust. After looking at the diagram where exactly to cut after being beneath the car can actually be a bit confusing. After the Y pipe is cut and you put on the H pipe and the entire exhaust it hangs rather low. It is best when you fit the H pipe to do your best to hold it up or back the H pipe up and bolt it to the catback exhaust that way. With it hanging low you do have the problem of scrapping at times. Also, another problem is that the U clamps for clamping the H pipe to the stock exhaust after the cats they leak, not horribly, but noticeably. I would suggest getting it welded or get circular clamps that snug around the entire pipe with a inch of clamp on each side which will fix the leaks and secure the H pipe. The hp difference you can feel though when paired with a tuner would be better.
