I'm confused about which dual conversion kit to purchase if I want to use an H-Pipe. The only one that seems to be a street option for our 04 V6 is the Pypes True Dual Catted Exhaust which comes with the X-Pipe. If I want to run an H-Pipe am I buying this system and just not using the X-Pipe? Otherwise I'm not understanding which cat back system to buy.

  • The H-pipe keeps the exhaust from each header separate. That is, each header has its own exhaust system. The X-pipe forces the exhaust from each header to mix at the "X," and then a "balanced" exhaust flows into the two exhaust pipes downstream of the X-pipe. Each header does not have its own exhaust system since the exhaust gases are mingled in the X-pipe. Finally, your V6 already has two catalytic converters, one for each header. So you don't need a catted X-pipe. So buy the H or X pipe and a GT catback exhaust for your model year mustang and you are good to go.

I wanted to purchase this in order to install the borla S exhaust system on my 2001 V6 but I live in California, and I see that they said it not legal on California highways? If you can further explain, and if this would cause me to fail future smog tests?

Can this dual exhaust adapter be used to run 2 straight pipes all the way with no mufflers?

  • As long as the piping size of the straight pipes is 2.5" this will be able to be used with two straight pipes.

The fit and finish were perfect. The installed GT cat-back exhaust on the H-pipe looks great. Rumbles like a V8! The instructions worried my auto technician (instructions mention only 99-01 and 3.8L). I had to twice reassure my technician before he cut into the stock exhaust that the instructions would work for an 04 3.9L. A.M. please have instructions updated!

    Worth it.

I installed it with the Flowmaster American Thunder on my 2002 v6. First thing I'll say is that the installation is a pain in the dick hole. But in the end it sounds like a stock GT. For the first couple days of driving it sounds like a civic because the mufflers have not been broken in. Yeah so definitely sounds awesome like 20x louder. Tip: hang tips before you hang the muffler!!

    PACESETTER H-PIPE WITH BORLA STINGERS

I installed this H-pipe along with Borla S-type Stingers and I must say, it sounds absolutely perfect! I've listened to a TON of videos showing an aftermarket exhaust for the V6, and one most all of them, I could hear the kind of "buzz" or "hum" that the V6 has with engine deceleration and high arms (I believe some say it sounds like a Honda), but with the Pacesetter H and the Borlas, there is none of that. It sounds amazing, throaty, and overall extremely nice. It definitely sounds like a V8, and I have no drone whatsoever. I went with a shop install, to do the Pacesetter H and the Borlas, it took about an hour and a half, and cost me $125. I had no problem with the alignment of the exhaust tips or the exhaust hanging too low. All in all, it's an awesome product and I cannot recommend it more; true dual all the way!

    WOW

This H-Pipe was the best investment I have made yet to my Mustang although the manifold rusted out at the ball flange connecting the down pipe to the right side cat on my car got that fixed for $25.00 other wise a easy install used pypes flow tubes to FM super 44 to turn downs no tail pipes yet maybe leave it alone anyway buy this! you will love it.

    Great Fitment

This kit has a great fitment, just follow the instructions and you'll be good, bolt it along with an SLP catback and everything bolted awesome, I didn't even have to weld anything, clamps took care of everything.

Pacetter H is great choice for any v6 !

I took a chance and bought this H pipe adapter.. To me it looked like a tough fit so i brought it to my mechanic. In addition to the H i added flow master american thunder catback to my V6 00... I was shocked with the sound difference.. Overall the H fit perfect. Great sound addition and gives a real throaty deep tone any v6 driving is looking for. Great product way wort the price... Thanks AM !

Great for a V6 Stock to True Dual Conversion

I purchased this adapter kit when I purchased my Flowmaster American Thunder GT Catback exhaust. I had it professionally installed because it does require welding to the existing headers/cats. It was installed with the dual exhaust and everything went on very well. I cannot really comment on the difference in sound of this part alone, since I had them installed together, but the overall sound going from Stock V6 to True Duals from the catalytic converters has drastically increased the sound level. The sound is the perfect low growl I was hoping for, and many people think I am running a V8 now instead of a V6. It is not raspy at all. My only complaint is that I get some occasional ticking/rasp at 3000RPM (only once in a while), which I believe is because the bolts in this kit have come a bit loose. All I need to do for that, though, is have it tightened up. There was no leak in the pipes or welds when I had them inspected. All in all, this was a great purchase, although I am not sure that a local shop couldn't fabricate something themselves for cheaper, so I would check that option first.

    the truth on true dual

I bought this H pipe alongside a Flowmaster American Thunder cutback and installed at the machine shop i work at with our welder, and it took the two of us about 5 hours to put in only working with ramps and a fork truck. Definitely not a do-it-yourself job; unless you have access to metal fabrication machinery, you should have it installed at a full shop. The two systems paired together make for a great sound, unless you really know what your listening for, you would think its a V8 with a nice exhaust, not just a V6. I would definitely recommend getting the real deal, this true dual exhaust instead of just a Y-pipe cat back. Not only does it sound better, but you will actually see more power out of this system than just a cutback. All-in-all there is no beating the real thing.

    Love this thing

This adapter is perfect in my 2000 v6. I did quite a bit of research and heard the h-pipe would give a deeper sound than the x-pipe and I fully back that statement. With almost no experience under the car I just followed the instructions to the T and it was a pretty easy install. One thing to take note: You HAVE to be very accurate where you cut your stock y-pipe (assuming you're doing it yourself and didn't bring it to a shop) or it won't sit right. Also, if you are installing the dual exhaust yourself do NOT tighten the clamps on the h-pipe adapter until you have everything where you want it or you will never be able to move it and the new exhaust won't sit straight. In all, great product and pretty easy to install if you follow the instructions given :)

    Great item for sixers

I bought this to install the borla s type gt exhaust on my 2000 v6, and it fit perfect after cutting the y pipe, you do have to make an almost perfect cut or you will have an exhaust leak and it will come with instructions on where and how to make the cut. My car doesn't sound anything near to a stock and all it is is an intake and this adapter with a borla exhaust and already sounds like monster gt. I love turning it on next to v8 owners bc it def turns heads specially when you rev it up.

    Shocked: With MAC catback

Had this h pipe put on my 2002 v6 along with the MAC catback system and was completely shocked the first time I heard it start up. Gives a much louder and deeper tone to my car now and Im not afraid to start my v6 in front of GT owners anymore! Also noticed an increase in power, I would estimate around 10-12 hp gain. I recommend the MAC system with it, not only is it the cheapest but also the loudest! Trust me you will not be disappointed. Thanks AM!

    Worth Every Penny

I got this for my V6 2004 horsey and I threw on a GT Borla Dual Exhaust and the sound was amazing. It IS a tight fit, I installed it myself. Just have to make sure you cut in the right spot where the directions tell you too and put it on the right way otherwise it will hang too low if you throw it on the wrong way. You don't HAVE to weld it but its recommended due to the fact if you don't, it'll have more chance of leaks. Overall this was money well spent! Thanks American Muscle!

    Killer H-Pipe!!!!

I had this installed along with the Flowmaster American Thunder exhaust on my 2002 V6. My mechanic charged me $150 for the whole dual exhaust install. The H-Pipe fit absolutely perfectly. As far as bang for your buck goes, this product takes the cake. Excellent performance gain as well. I felt it as soon as I peeled out of the shop parking lot. The exhaust sounds better everyday. This is a must buy for any dual exhaust conversion. Thanks AM!

    Amazing but can be annoying.

I bought the pacesetter H pipe with a GT catback exhaust. After looking at the diagram where exactly to cut after being beneath the car can actually be a bit confusing. After the Y pipe is cut and you put on the H pipe and the entire exhaust it hangs rather low. It is best when you fit the H pipe to do your best to hold it up or back the H pipe up and bolt it to the catback exhaust that way. With it hanging low you do have the problem of scrapping at times. Also, another problem is that the U clamps for clamping the H pipe to the stock exhaust after the cats they leak, not horribly, but noticeably. I would suggest getting it welded or get circular clamps that snug around the entire pipe with a inch of clamp on each side which will fix the leaks and secure the H pipe. The hp difference you can feel though when paired with a tuner would be better.

    Good, but be careful.

I installed this H-pipe with the Mac Catback exhaust system on my 2002 V6, cutting IS required as i was aware, and i was able to get it on fairly easy. my only problem is how low it hangs.. on my car it seems slightly lower than the mufflers and does scrape from time to time. But, overall I am happy with it. Gives a great tone to the car and turns heads everywhere i go!

    Great Product

Perfect fit install very simple only reason I didn't do this myself is because it does require cutting and welding but it's very easy to install non the less. Put this on along with the borla s type gt cat back and sounds unbelievable. So if your a v6 owner and looking to get a true dual exhaust this is a must. Not only is it affordable it takes less than an hour to install! Oh and of course AM shipped it fast and free. So enough said cuz this product really sells itself.
