Handle More Power. The stock OEM wire from the alternator to the vehicle was not designed to carry the larger loads that high AMP replacement alternators produce. By installing this Premium Power Wire Upgrade Kit, you will add the additional safe carrying capacity needed for lengths up to 2.5 feet.

Premium Wire. This Premium Power Wire Kit is made from the highest quality #4 gauge wire, with an increased number of strands. The electrolytic copper and bundle wrapping is used to reduce the noise in high end sound systems. All this while still being incredibly flexible and sporting a show quality finish.

Application. The PA Performance Premium Power Wire Kit will work with your factory alternator; however, it's designed for use in 1979 to 1985 Mustangs with higher than stock AMP alternators.

is this to be in addition to existing cable? I'm replacing my altinator and was wondering if this to be run in parallel to the existing factory cable? Seeing it is fused I was wondering if it can be run directly to the positive terminal of the battery and leave the existing factory cable to pick up the fuse box loads? I need to pick up Car Stereo load from Distro block at positive terminal.

  • This Power Wire replaces the factory power wire on the alternator. It is not to be used in conjunction with the stock wiring.

    A Nice Improvement

For now I'm running with the stock alternator but will be upgrading in the future. Since this piece is a quick install I figure why not, I'm going to do it anyway. I did notice an improvement in power and overall operation of the car. This is considered one third of the big three wire upgrade so now that I have done this, I might as well finish it out for the sake of completeness. Overall this is a nice upgrade to electrical system whether you are running an OEM alternator or aftermarket.

    A little short

The PA Performance alternator states that a 4ga. wire be used to validate the warranty. This one has a fuse and the unit is of good quality, but the wire length is a bit short limiting routing. There are tabs on the fuse holder for attaching to somewhere, but it can get nowhere near the fender. I used a wire loom and tie wrapped it to existing wires, so it's a clean install.

    You need this part!

It will fit your Mustang 2000. You may still be able to use the 170 amps alternator with the stock cable, but don't wait to long to replace it with this high output cable.

POWER WIRE KIT (short but workable)

A necessary addition when upgrading to the high output alternators. PA Performance has done a nice job on this kit. Excellent quality and workmanship! However, it is indeed a few inches short. (96 GT). This is not difficult to install but the instructions here on AmericanMuscle were helpful in the routing of the wire btw.

    PAPerformance Premium Wire Kit

    Considerate Power

The cable presents an obviously well thought out design - It allows proper delivery of power from a high output alternator with enough length and flexibility to be suspended near the fender and includes mounting holes. This cable supplements the OEM alternator wire and simply overlays the wire terminals over the original. The coating around the thick wire has held up beautifuly against the heat of the headers near by.

    Performance Upgrade

This wire definitely gave me the consistency I needed in my stereo system even though I grave just the basic 130 amp alternator. In addition to that I received a little more power to my coil on plugs. My stang is a dailey driver so it was nice to feel a difference in the power. I read other reviews and I really didn't notice any change to my running lights or other electrical. That may be due to the fact I don't have a 170 amp alternator like the what the wire is actually built for. I look forward to upgrading my alternator and seeing the difference. Even so this is a great product and I would recommend this to others, and I would purchase again. Thank you AM!

    94-95 GT Power Wire

Nothing wrong with this product. Only issue is it's too short for the 5.0. PA Performance recommended the 10 ft. they use for fox bodies, but the 4 ft. works just fine. American Muscle carries this part as well, but lists it under the 05-09 S-197's products.

No matter what you have, stock or not. This simple cable makes a great difference how my car runs! consider too that ur fuel lines are elec & if ur not getting juice ur stang WILL push more fuel through the rails.

    Another Great Product!

I installed this wire kit with a 200 amp PA Performance Alternator with the single wire conversion kit and this worked perfectly. It eliminates some extra wiring between the fuse box and the alternator and will withstand the demands of a 200 amp alternator better than the stock wiring so you can't go wrong with this upgrade.

    Excellent Upgrade!!!!

This upgrade was very easy to install took me at least 30 minutes. The quality of the wire is great and you can really see the results. The lights on the car receives a high intensity and it doesn't dim the lights when I have the system on. The only down fall is the wire is short so you can not run around the fender wall but other than that its a good kit to get.
