Balances Exhaust Gases.   The Pypes Off Road X-Pipe is excellent when it comes to balancing out the gas pressures in your exhaust system. This Pypes off road x-pipe creates more power and torque than a traditional H-pipe. Why? Because the exiting exhaust pulses are merged at the "X", resulting in less exhaust back pressure for more power.

Race Car Growl. This free flowing Pypes x-pipe for the 1979 to 1995 5.0's not only increases power, but it also adds a raspy, race car growl to the sound of your exhaust with its modern "X" crossover pipe design.

Modular Construction.   Pypes unique three piece modular construction makes it quick and easy to add or remove a catalytic converter to your exhaust system in just minutes depending on your driving needs.

Durable Stainless Steel Construction.   Pypes uses sturdy 16 gauge 409 stainless steel mandrel bent 2.5" tubing for improved flow and features welded reinforcement plates for additional strength.

Application. This Pypes Off-Road X-pipe is designed to be a direct bolt-on for the 1979 to 1995 5.0L V8 Mustangs with either aftermarket short tube headers or the stock manifolds and a dual catback exhaust installed. Intended for off-road, track use only, does not include catalytic converters.

Technical note: This x-pipe is designed for off road / track use, and may not be street legal in your jurisdiction. Check local ordinances.

Catalyic converters? If these pypes have already been installed onto the car, Can the pypes hi-flow catalyic converters be installed afterwards??

  • Absolutely. The 3-piece modular design of this O/R mid-pipe makes it quick and easy to add or remove catalytic converters in minutes. Hope this helps!

Question Resolved

will this item work with slp1 pipes

  • You shouldn't have any problem using this X-pipe in combination with the SLP Loudmouths. This Pypes X-pipe is a direct replacement of the stock mid-pipe and will bolt up to stock manifolds or shorty headers and a dual catback for your year/model Mustang. Hope this helps!

Question Resolved

Can I use this x pipes with a 351w engine??

  • As long as the exhaust manifolds will be the same length and diameter as the 5.0L then this Pypes Off-Road X-Pipe (79-95 5.0L) should work just fine.

One of my favorite mods yet

Great product, huge bang for the buck value. The sound is amazing and it feels like I picked up a few HP on the top end with very little to no loss of low end TQ. I'm running a Mac catback with chambered mufflers and full tails, stock headers, stock motor with some bolt ons. This X pipe has a mean, throaty grow at midrange RPM and flat out screams on the top end, but it's actually quieter than an off road H pipe when driven gently. No more waking up the neighbors or attracting unwanted attention on the street. Got rid of 90% of the annoying drone present at 2000 RPM with any of the H-pipes I tried previously (stock catted, high flow catted, and off road). Great product, my only complaint is that I have the older style with a stock-style flange on only one side and it hangs too low coming off the driver's side header, scrapes tall speed bumps sometimes. Hopefully this newer version is better, eventually I may try one to find out.

    Good stuff

I like em! I can tell that my HP has gone up and they make my car sound better. They do hang a little low under the car. But..... still a good X-Pipe.

    Pypes OR X-Pipe

Sound great! Stock headers with magnaflow cat back. Good rumble without being too loud and obnoxious on my daily driver. Fits good, still have to go back and fix a small leak though

    x pipes

I really don't like how low they bolt on. Without looking under i can see a part of the piping. I have emissions coming soon and its going to be hard to install converters without the ground. Good X pipe for the off road though.

    Missing Hangers

Nice pipes, but they lack the standard hangers that are found on every other X or H pipe. Look at the others on this site, and you will see.

    fit good

the pipes went are really well seem a little low to the ground coming off the headers. And the 02 sensor on the driver side barley clipped in. havent checked the clamps yet but i would suggest driving around and retighting them. For the money best investment sounds great!!!

    Decent but a tad short

Sounds great has raspy sound not loud enough to get pulled over it Hangs kind of low and notice when installing my old x pipe was about 1/2 inch or so bigger. When installing thing my tail pipe look like there to far in. But nothing alittle modification can't fix. I'd give me 9/10

    Pypes off road x-pipe

It sounds awesome!! but hangs way to low to the ground. It hits the ground everytime I drive the car so I rarely drive it now because I don't want to spend the money fixing it again. I installed it in my garage along with the Pypes headers & it was pretty easy for not having any help, just try to stay out off it when you pass cops cause you will be setting off car alarms from the vibration lol & also have the SLP 1's on it which is where my exhaust stops.
