Upgrade To A True Dual Exhaust. Now you can easily upgrade your V6 Pony to a true dual exhaust with a Pypes Off-Road X-Pipe. Just install this Pypes X-pipe along with the 1999-2004 GT catback of your choice, to give your Mustang the impressive looks and sound of a GT.

Balances Exhaust Gases. This Pypes off road x-pipe balances out the gas pressures in your exhaust system to create more power and torque than a traditional H-pipe. Why? Because the exiting exhaust pulses are merged at the "X", resulting in less exhaust back pressure for more power.

Modular Construction. Pypes unique three piece modular construction makes it quick and easy to add or remove a catalytic converter to your exhaust system in just minutes depending on your driving needs.

Durable Stainless Steel Construction. Pypes uses sturdy 16 gauge 409 stainless steel mandrel bent 2.5" tubing for improved flow and features welded reinforcement plates for additional strength.

Application. This Pypes Off-Road X-Pipe is designed for use on a 1999-2004 V6 Mustangs in combination with an aftermarket or stock factory dual 1999-2004 GT catback exhaust system. Intended for off-road track use only.

Technical note: This x-pipe is designed for off road / track use, and may not be street legal in your jurisdiction. Check local ordinances.

will this work with my headers? I have a pair of mac long tube headers and i was wondering if this x pipe will fit

allblackstang Year: 1999 Model: V6

  • Unfortunately not, this x-pipe is meant to be used with stock manifolds or shorty headers only. With the MAC Long Tubes, you'll need to use a MAC Shorty mid-pipe for proper installation! I've attached the link below for the necessary mid-pipe so you can take a look!

Will this work with a bone stock V6 and an American Thunder Catback Exhaust? I have a 2002 V6 that is bone stock. I was wondering if this x pipe would work with a Flowmaster American Thunder Catback Exhaust? Is there anything else I need? Thanks!

jglynn034 Year: 2002 Model: V6

  • Yes, it will bolt right to the header pipes. You also need a GT hanger kit and o2 delete resistors. When you take the old muffler hanger out, keep one of the bolts and clip. You need it for the passenger side muffler mount, the ones in the kit are not long enough. Really sounds awsome when you first start the engine

Will this bolt up to a mac GT cat back exhaust also can you add pypes cats because I have already purchased them I have a 2004 v6 with a true dual mac exhaust front to rear I used macs off road H pipe and its insainly loud and needed to tone it down a bit so I bought pypes high flow cats to splice in but to my surprise the down tubes are not long enough and the cats would be hitting the chassi so I need to buy a whole new mid pipe I know pypes sells this X pipe with cats but i guess my real question is is the off road pipe the same as the catted pipe just without the cats because I already have them any help would be greatly appreciated Thank You Timothy Kaiser

  • It's the same in if the cats u buy are close to the ones that come on the chatted on u should be good. And just so u know alot of muffler shops do this all the time

    Insane and amazing

First off I will start off saying that these are a pain in the a** to install. What i found works the best was to put the front two pipes in there correct holes on the x and loosely tighten the clamps around the connection. Next pull the two farthest ends from the x together until it is fairly close to fitting on the manifolds. Finish the install and should work pretty good. I put these on with the magnapacks and its insanely loud and sounds awesome. If you don't want it extremely loud get a chambered muffler. Lost a bit of low end torque but can feel a big increase in horsepower above 2500 rpm. Sounds better then a V8 and sounds like a hardcore race car at 4G RPM. Buy these!!!

    VERY LOUD!!!

OK i have a 01 mustang and i took the pypes to the shop to get put on and 1st off they didnt even fit they have to cut some of the pipe to make it fit and i also had to buy a O2 sensor extender to make the driver side back cat plug even fit... thats only reason im giving this 4 stars..Anyways, this is REALLY LOUD!!! and i love it if you want your car to be really loud go with thease pypes and and no cats. Just Keep in mind that on some vehicles they dont fit and u have to cut and weld them to make them fit but overall Great Buy yet again for American Muscle!

    It works

I installed this X pipe on a 2002 V6. It bolted right up to my BBK headers but the drivers side leg needed cut and welded to line up with my Flowmaster duals. But the sound and power were worth the effort.

    Awesome X Pipe

This X pip sounds great.. you can really hear the exhaust coming through it. Reminds me so much like a Classic Muscle car.. I got this with BBK Shorty Headers and Catback Magnaflow Exhaust.. Combo is great.. =)

The fit was good and performance gain was great. The sound really kicks in at 3K and above. I had to unhook the driver side O2 sensor from its mount for it to reach.

    V8 Sound

Ok after seeing a youtube clip, i really wanted to do this to my pony. Have a 2000 V6. What i did is use this pipe, Mac Long Tubes, Flowmaster 40's catback. I swear it sounds FREAKIN AMAZING. Sounds closer to a GT but not the same, and that's in a good way! It is one mean sounding little pony now!

    Awesome Sound!!!

Installed this midpipe with a Flowmaster American Thunder GT caback and could not be more pleased. Took a bit of pushing and shoving to get the whole set up together but install didnt take more than a day with 2 sets of hands. I am pretty mechanically inclined but by no means an expert and it was easy enough to intall the whole set up including tha catback. The sound is deep with a low rumble at idle and low RPMs and then around 3,000+ really can hear the offroad x and this baby starts to scream. People mistake my little v6 for a Gt all the time and I constantly turn heads driving around or when entering/leaving a carshow. You will be very happy with this product as am I... just a reminder this kit does not include hardware to connect the catback to this midpipe so you will need to buy those bolts yourself. Thanks again AM for a great product, fast shipping, and wonderful service.
