V8 Style And Sound. Bolting on a Pypes Street-Pro Cat-Back System to a stock 1998 to 2004 V6 will yield an instant 8 to 13 horsepower gain! It features two Street-Pro mufflers for Pypes ultimate in flow (and power gains) with an aggressive V8 sound.

Turndown Tips. The Pypes Street-Pro Cat-Back System is designed with tips that turn down under the rear bumper, similar to those on the 1987 to 1993 GT, so no cutting or modifications are required to the stock V6 rear bumper cover.

No Cutting or Welding Required. Unlike so many other aftermarket V6 dual exhaust kits that require cutting and welding the stock Mid Pipe, the Pypes Street-Pro Cat-Back system simply bolts right up to the stock Y-pipe for a no hassle installation

Quality Materials. This Pypes Dual Cat-Back Exhaust is constructed from free flowing mandrel bent 2.5" 409 stainless steel piping and features Pypes Street-Pro 3-chamber mufflers for an aggressive throaty sound.

Application. The Pypes Street-Pro Dual Cat-Back Exhaust kit is specifically designed to simply bolt-on to existing stock Y-pipe on of any 1998 to 2004 3.8L or 3.9L V6 Mustang for more power and a more aggressive sound.

Hello, Can you tell me if this application bolts right up to the header or the catalytic converter? Also, my Mustang is a rag top. Is there anything different in the hanging process as compared to a coup? My cat is bad, the muffler is on it's way out so I though this to be a great time to convert my 6cyl to dual exhausts. Thanks so much. Tony

BigTones

  • It bolts up to the factory Y pipe that has the catalytic converters, not the headers.

I've been told that I don't have enough room for dual exhaust because my fuel tank is moved over more to the passenger side not leaving much space. Any way I can get around this?? 1998 3.8l v6 gas tank is 14.7 gal.

Cremer67

  • The fuel tank does not change positions between the V6 and GT.

replacing mufflers with Pypes m-80? So im wondering if by replacing the mufflers with the pypes m-80 mufflers, do I still get the gain in HP or do I basically lose it?

SDstang2000

  • By replacing the mufflers on the Pypes Street-Pro Dual Cat-Back Exhaust with Turn Down Tips, with a smaller muffler, it will decrease back pressure, which will allow the car to breathe. If the vehicle loses too much back pressure, it can cause a loss in power. Depending on the modifications, the loss in back pressure may become an advantage. If you would like to contact us regarding your specific application, we would be more than happy to assist you. On a side note: the mufflers inlet and outlet are offset in this exhaust, and a replacement with the M-80's would require some modification.

I am looking for a set-up almost exactly like this. I would just prefer it to be all 3" pipes instead of 2.5" is there anywhere I could find that?

Psyciccobra

  • Unfortunately Pypes only offers a 2.5" kit for the 1998 to 2004 Mustang V6.

What parts of the exhaust system are stainless steel? Are all brackets needed to secure exhaust included with set?

MAC

  • All parts of the Pypes Street-Pro Dual Cat-Back Exhaust - Turn Down Tips (98-04 V6) will be completely stainless steel. Also the kit will come with all the hardware needed for the install.

    good but needs help

I was stoked on getting this setup for my car thinking it was going to be a simple install I used jacks to get pipes over the wheel wells no issues followed the instructions and came to a point scratching my head the the y pipe was way to long so I cut it 3 inches set the mufflers on the pipes as the instructions say and they hung crooked eventually I took another 2 inches off the y pipe provided and ended up installing it completely backwards to what the instructions say. overall decent product good sound tight fit. shop help should be recommended

Pypes Street Pro Dual Exhaust Conversion Kit w/ Turndown Tips

Just got this kit installed today in replacement of a stock exhaust, and what a difference! On startup, it seems slightly lower and louder than stock, but when revved, it has an awesome rumble! On takeoff, there is some interior resonance, but when cruising at 65 mph, there is almost no cabin noise. The outside takeoff growl is a perfect deep tone. The only downside is that it took the exhaust shop 4+ hours to install, since some of the piping wasn't bent quite right, but in the end, they got it. Kudos to American Muscle for prompt shipping, will definitely be buying from here again! Would recommend this product to anyone looking to make their stock V6 sound great!

Great addition for the old gal

The old exhaust had seen better days, purchased this unit to replace the original and update the look, performance and sound. With the help of my trusty sawsall, the old was off in under 10 minutes and with a little tweeking of the front hangers, the exhaust fix perfectly. It was a very easy install. We did need to trim 5 inches off the new Y-pipe, but with the sawsall, that was simple too. As for the sound... nice low end tone (improvement), no drone, slightly louder then stock. Very happy with the workmanship and quality

    This is the perfect sound!

Although I was unable to install it myself I dropped it off at the shop and they finished within a couple hours. Got it back and man, can you feel the rumble. I did however change the pypes to m-80s and it sounds beautiful! Not too loud and raspy like glass packs, but a nice rumble and tone. Once I drove away I can feel a minimal hp gain, but still good for what I paid for. Overall a great product, thanks AM!

Product has a great sound. Had to bend a hanger and front of the passenger tail pipe to get the fitment 100%. Definitely worth getting to make your v6 sound great.

    Great exhaust But...

Ok so I got my exhaust in the mail thinking it will be a 1-2 hour install and no cutting like it says on the website. It took me and two other people 6 hours to install this. And there was 3 places to cut! Don't get me wrong, I love the product, it makes a great noise. It's not quite but it's not too loud. When you rev in neutral it makes a great back fire noise. When you turn the car on, it's loud, but when your in gear it makes a nice grumble. It starts to get loud when you get above 3,000 rpm. Definitely better then the stock exhaust. While installing the tail pypes, Raise the car as much as possible. Also, the hangers on the hump face the inside of the car. While taking the old exhaust off, you have to cut the old muffler off where the tail pipe and muffler meet. It's definitely worth the time and money. Oh and read the directions, good luck!!!

Quality product, but dissapointed in exhaust sound.

The quality of the product is very good and installation was within expectations; however, it was necessary to modify/cut the exhaust sections to install. And i'm not very pleased with the so called aggressive mufflers/sound. The mufflers/sound are not agressive as one would expect; as a matter of fact the mufflers are quite quite; no throaty sound as one would expect.. After posting this It would be nice if American Muscle would replace the shipped mufflers with a more aggressive set that actually backs up their advertised statements. In addition also eliminate the statement that no cutting is involved.
