How to Install RBP RX-3 Midnight Edition Upper Grille w/ LEDs on your F-150

Tools Required
  • Wire Strippers
  • Electrical Tape
  • 12V Test Light
  • 5mm Allen Wrench (Included)
  • 6mm Allen Wrench (Included)
  • Power Drill
  • 1/4" Drill Bit
  • Wrench with 10mm socket

STEP 1 —you will need to remove OEM grille by removing hardware and pull back on clips from top part of the grill


Step 2. CUT OUT CENTER GRILLE PIECE AS INDICATED IN IMAGE AND SAND DOWN SHARP EDGES LEFT FROM CUTING.


STEP3. REMOVE BRACKETS FROM RBP GRILLE THEM PLACE RBP GRILL ON TOP OF OEM GRILLE,


STEP 4. TURN BACK SIDE OF GRILLE FACEING YOU,PLACE BRACKETS BACK ON STUDS AND TIGHTEN EVENLY.


STEP 5.NOW YOU ARE READY TO REINSTAL GRILLE ON YOUR TRUCK.

Important

1. Check the vehicle's owner manual and local city/ state traffic regulations to see if there are any restrictions on the use of auxiliary lights.

2. Do not install the light on the front bumper of a vehicle with air bag sensors behind the front bumper, if you are not sure check the service manual to see where the sensors are located. (You may damage the sensor and/ or deploy the air bag.)

3. The lamp becomes extremely hot while operating, keep them away from the temperature sensitive body parts. Do not touch or wash the light for at least 10 minutes after use.

4. When installing light, take special care not to drill into fluid and electrical lines.

5. If drilling a hole to run wires, use a rubber grommet on drilled hole to prevent wire damage.

6. Read the instructions first. If you do not understand it, do not install the light yourself, have someone qualified do the installation for you.

7. Pilot assumes no liability for any damage caused by improper use and/ or installation of its products.


Light Installation

1. Select a mounting location that will give you a maximum beam adjustment range and will not cause any obstructions for your vehicle's normal functions.

2. Mark the mounting position of the lamp onto the surface. You may either upright mount or pendant mount the lamp.

3. Use power drill with 1/4" drill bit to drill out marked holes on the mounting surface.

4. Attach the light unit to its marked position and secure the brackets with the supplied screws. If the mounting screws are not accessible with the whole light unit on, disassemble the bracket from the light unit and bolt it to the mounting surface, then mount the light to the brackets.

Wiring Instructions

1. Use a test light to find the proper ( 12v) power wire source.

2. Connect power source wires to power source.

3. Follow diagram below for wiring installation.

Switched power source

Connect power leads to a switched power source. Power source must be a fused connection. Do not connect directly to vehicle battery.


Connect with Switch (not supplied)

Connect power leads to a switch (not supplied). Switch must be connected to a fused power source.


Adjust Light Beam

1. With the light on, visually check the light beam, then turn off the switch and adjust the lamp's angle (Let the light cool down before each adjustment).

2. Repeat this adjustment until a proper light beam appears, then firmly tighten all screws of the light.
