Shelby Styling. The Carroll Shelby Hood Latch & Pin Kit's classic retro 60's styling looks great on the any 2005 to 2009 Mustang. This is the same style latch kit used by early drag racers on their Mustangs, only now with a modern Shelby twist.

Safety. The Shelby Performance Parts Hood Latch & Pin Kit not only looks great, but also adds extra safety to any high performance Mustang. The Hood Latch & Pin Kit securely pins the hood safely to the car to prevent the hood from lifting or flying off at high speeds, a must for all drag racers.

Won't Harm Paint. Shelby Performance has taken the extra step to coat the lanyards in flexible plastic to protect your hood's paint from unnecessary scratches.

Solid Construction. The Shelby Hood Pin Kit is made from durable 6061-T6 billet aluminum that is precision machined and brushed before being clear anodized for strength and long life.

Application. This Shelby Hood Latch & Pin kit is specifically designed to be used on the 2005 to 2009 Mustangs with the original stock hood or an aftermarket fiberglass hood. Shelby hood pin fitment I have a 2007 Shelby GT. This package came with hood pins already assembled on the hood. They are looking a little rough, wanted to replace them with your hood pin kit. Will they fit on the same alignment where the other pins currently exist? I dont want to redrill any holes.

  • Yes. They can actually be installed in any locaiton on the hood, proivding you can install the pin bolt bracket below it. This kit uses the radiator mounts, which your car most likely doesn't. It's all about the pins lining up with the holes. In your case, that part is already done for you. Just remove the plates from on top of the hood and replace with the new ones. I would then replace the pin bolts with the new ones, making sure to take your time and get the height right. I wouldn't suggest that you touch the pin bolt brackets, as if you mess with those, you will have to align everything again.

Does this product come with a template to drill through the hood? I am kind of nervous about drilling through the hood of my S197 mustang and am hoping that this kit at least has some sort of instructions and template for the drilling location?

  • There is no template to show you where to drill the holes in your hood. This is not a project for the shade tree mechanic. You will need to remove the grille and have an angle drill available. The hole has to be drilled from underneath with the hood closed using the included brackets as a guide, you will have to make a jig to guide the drill bit.......THERE IS LITTLE ROOM FOR ERROR! Shelby aluminum hood pins

Had my hood pop once doing 80, at least the latch didn't let it open. Since then, I used to get very anxious whenever I took my pony to high speeds cause the hood would start shaking. After installing these the shaking went away and I feel safer now. Pins give my stang that retro look from the 60's Shelby GT classic. Hard part is preparing yourself to drill your hood. But triple check everything before you start to drill. You'll be happy on how it looks at the end.

    Shelby hood pin kit

The added hood hood pin kit was very easy to install and looks great. I also like the added security knowing the hood won't blow up after 140 mph romps.

    awesome but scary

They look great and my hood has not lifted off yet. They also look great. The scary part is being asked to take a hole saw to your hood. I recommend drilling the pilot whole and enlarging it to 1/⁴ inch and replacing the guide in the hole saw guide with a smooth .25 inch bar.

    Shelby hood pins

Good product out of the box. I have a Trufiber GTS Ram Air Hood, this kit will not mount in the location in the instructions, I had to relocate the hood pins closer to the fenders, where they look better anyway. I submitted a picture of the finished product, and the cutting that was required. After completed the hood pins look and work great.

Shelby Pins With Bug Shield Works!

I looked high and low for anyone saying if these hood pins would work if a bug guard is installed. Well yes they do! I actually think the bug guard is a plus because it keeps the lanyards off your paint. These pins are nerve racking to install, but the instructions are well written, just trust them, its always nerve racking to drill your car. These are actually Scott Drake pins made for Shelby, the instructions are by Scott Drake. Only thing I would mention is to drill the plate mounting screw holes one size smaller than the instructions say, at 1/8th inch they strip out real easy, I stripped one, then went down a size and all was good. Great quality materials, fast super service from AM as always.

    Billet Shelby hood pin kit

I race my car on weekends and was noticing a good amount of hood shake during 130+ mph runs so I purchased these. A local shop drill the holes in the hood to install the pins, but they said it was straight forward and very easy. They look great, but after 6 months the lanyards have rusted. It should be easy to scrub them up and make them look new again, but had I known I was going to have to do this every 6 months I'd have thought twice about purchasing them.

Good look, but long term disappointment.

This pin kit looks good, but after being installed for a while, it became apparent that the lanyards are not stainless steel. Both lanyards have rusted and discolored badly underneath the clear vinyl coating. The look very bad and completely ruin the look of what should be a top shelf kit. I would have expected much better quality from something wearing the Shelby name.

Easy to install, looks nice. Had to move outward because of curve of my carbon fiber hood. Used only one hole in the pin brackets on the outer radiator bolts but seems plenty sturdy anyway. Nice but a bit pricey compared to other hood pin kits I have seen. But you do not get the Shelby name on the others!

Nice touch for a hood with some safety features.

I ordered the Shelby hood pin kit for a new Cervini hood that I purchased from American Muscle. The shop installed them at the same time they painted and installed the hood. So, the $500-$1000 price I quoted included prep, paint and installation of the hood with the pins. The pins are a great look with the new hood. They are heavy-duty and high quality. They also offer the safety of holding the hood down if the hood latch should ever fail. I recommend professional installation since it requires drilling through the hood and making sure the studs are properly aligned.

    Looks Awesome!

AM provides the best support, full stop! My kit had one little rubber missing piece and they sent me a new replacement kit right away. Just killer customer service, 2nd to none! This is not a easy install, unless you are used to cutting holes in your hood. Make sure you have a friend to help you, read the instructions and take your time. Marking the holes and drilling the holes was by far the hardest part, just because you don't want to mess that part up, or damage your hood. The fit is all about how well you do the job, marking the holes, adjusting the pin bolts to the right hieght, and brackets. I got mine very close and everything lines up great. Once you get past that part, the rest is easy. Really stands out and has the muscle car look. Another awesome part from American Muscle!

    Best Exterior Mod

Love these hood pins. I get sooo many stares and compliments on these. It definitely makes a statement. Just take your time drilling the holes. You only get one chance, so don't screw it up! In the end, it's definitely worth it!!!
