Q & A (2 Questions, 2 Answers) Ask a Question

Will the OEM center caps work? I am considering buying the 18x10 to match up with the stock 18x8 rims I have. Can I pop out the center caps and replace them with the FMC logos?

PvilleStang Year: 2012 Model: GT

Good Question (0) (0)
  • The Ford center caps aren't as long as the AM brand centers so they wont just snap into place. I just did what your trying to do. I used super glue around the edges of the backside of the center cap and put a piece of tape over each one to hold them in until they dried. Be careful when removing the tape so that you don't unintentionally rip the center cap back off. So far so good for my car. I bought those wheels to be able to use a bigger tire for my Whipple supercharged pavement pounder.

Answer This Question

Does the color match 2011 19" premium wheels? I would like to run these in the rear and keep my 19" silver premium wheels up front.

Dgaffler Year: 2011 Model: GT

Good Question (0) (0)
  • I have a 2010 Mustang that I used these wheels on to help with traction and they look great with that wide rear tire look. I also have two 2011 Coyote Mustangs both with 19" wheels one has these style wheels and I am getting ready to do the same thing you are asking about. So yes they will match in color and your tire selection will be more for the 18" wheels. Nitto has a NT05 or NT555 series drag radial that works great and I think AM stocks them and can ship them mounted and balanced with optional nitrogen fill for free so your pressure doesn't change.

    awesome

    Review from 2010 OE Style Silver Wheel - 18x8 (05-14 GT, V6)

These wheels are awesome, I replaced the standard 05 V6 wheels with these. The rims make the car look more menacing stance. I bought my rims with Pirelli tires which give the car much more traction and a improved ride.

    Review from 2010 OE Style Silver Wheel - 18x10 (05-14 GT, V6)

The fitment is excellent. They look much better than stock (no more wimpy 235 in the back). I purchased these because I wanted a stock look but unfortunately they were not designed to fit the original center caps. They look good but they aren't perfect. 4 out of 5

    Perfect offset

    July 30, 2012

    Review from 2010 OE Style Silver Wheel - 18x10 (05-14 GT, V6)

AM OE style rims are a perfect match, as I only run them on the rear with the standard rims up front, it has the exact off set to give my Mustang the perfect stance. Use a thin wall socket if using original wheel nuts to avoid scratches. AM center cap do not fit Ford rim (too bad). I bought the TPMS and tuning tool, then followed the video...... quick and simple!

    Review from 2010 OE Style Silver Wheel - 18x10 (05-14 GT, V6)

The rims look good with my stock fronts on my 5.0. Matches perfect. Has a great staggered appearance. I bought the Tps sensors also no annoying tire pressure light on. Would buy again. Would have p285 or wider tires the 275 look ok but something wider would look better.

I needed wider rims on the rear for a better hook up but wanted to keep the factory look. These rims were the right choice.

Stumbled upon these wheels- Very thankful that I did.

    November 01, 2013

    Review from 2010 OE Style Silver Wheel - 18x10 (05-14 GT, V6)

All I wanted was a wider wheel/tire for the back of my GT, just like the stock wheels that came on it, since they were a painted silver metallic that matched my Ingot Silver body color. I had been to other web sites and had all but given up, when scrolling towards the bottom A.M.'s page, there they were! I couldn't believe it, and started reading the reviews. They were very helpful, but I just couldn't decide whether to get 285 or 275 wide tires. A.M. recommends 275's, but that would thrown my speedo off more than I wanted and I didn't want to have to have it recalibrated. The 285/40-18" tires would put my speedo only 3/4 of one mile per hour off, compared to the original 235-50-18" tires, so I bought them to go with the A.M 10" wheels. But the tires do stick out about 3/16" beyond my rear fender, and I didn't want that. I was mulling what I wanted to do about it, when today a guy pulled into the same parking lot I was about to leave from with a late model Mach 1 Mustang. I started talking to him and noticed that the factory (where the 5.0 GT had been modified) had put 275 tires on the rear, but the car had been lowered, which is why they had put on 275's instead of 285's. I wrote all that to say this: I see now that my stock GT looks better with the 285"s, even though they do stick out from the fender just a tad, than it would with 275's. If your Mustang is lowered, and especially if it's lowered quite a bit, I think you'd be happier with the 275 width tires.
