Very Nice Piece

This tint looks great on my 2010, gives my pony a meaner look. Be careful when applying, use plenty of water and be sure to get out all the bubbles.

can you still wash your car like normal after installation of this tint?

  • washed my car after 24 hrs of the installation. I live in a condominium so i usually take my car and wash it by hand with a washer and soap brush. Noticed no peeling or damage after the wash, and believe me, i am quite ocd about keeping my 'stang clean.

Still visible? I love this look. Just wondering how much this tinting impacts the brake lamp visibility when brakes are applied...Drivers these days are bad enough without making our cars harder to see :) Thanks!

  • I asked this question of a friend following me on a bright sunny day and he indicated there was no mistaking that my brake lights were illuminated when I braked. I have decided to avoid tinting the center brake light with no affect to the overall appearance in my opinion. The lights look really great at night time

Smoked tail light kit & matte black light trim I'm thinking about purchasing the smoked tail light kit & the matte black light trim, Whick one would I need to install first?

gvmh42777 Year: 2012 Model: GT

Good Question (0) (0)
  • You'd want to install the tint first, then the matte black light trim. The trim installs using 3M tape that once it's stuck, it won't be coming back off easily. It makes more sense to install the tint first so you don't have to remove the trim and then reinstall it. Hope this helps!

Easier and better looking than I expected

    November 12, 2011

Considered spray tint but didn't want to experiment on a $450 light. Read up on the tint films and wasn't impressed with the install headaches people described. Figured I'd try it since it would only be a $50.00 screw-up. I was pleasantly surprise. I removed the light from the car and did the install inside with everything at room temp. I use tint application solution from Advanced Auto Parts. Sprayed the light, my fingers, the adhesive side, and other side with generous amounts. Used cloth on squeegee, so no scratches. Ended up bubble free with no haze. Very, very happy with results.

Its so nice..... if you can do it right!

    October 24, 2010

I wrote a review a while ago sayings that yes it looks good but it wasn't easy to put on. I ended up ordering another pair and this time I had more success. I'll give you guys the steps I took to get it right just in case the AM instructions aren't clear enough. Remove the tint from both the adhesive and non adhesive sides of paper. Getting the paper side off is easy, but the adhesive paper is a little trickier. What I did was spray the back of it with the water soap mixture and peeled away. Unfortunately, the on the first one I tried to do this alone and it started sticking to itself. Get someone to hold the paper while you pull the tint off slowly, make sure you dont rip it. After you have the tint off, spray the tail light generously. Place it on their so it aligns and make sure you stretch it so that it is firmly on the curves as well. Squeegee away after all looks good. On the very edges I just started using my finger and it seemed to work fine. Thats pretty much it. Just make sure you take it off carefully and be patient!

    SWEET!

    November 17, 2011

Got these in today for my 2012 GT. Not much else to say but awsome. Fit was near perfect and installed easily. However I learned from the 3rd brake light that these included instructions are not very good. Using the soapy water worked perfectly.

    tail light tint

    January 02, 2011

i ended up tearing my first one while pulling it off the paper, but still put on and used clear finger nail polish over tear. i learned off the first one to be very careful pulling off paper and just keep soaking both sides with ur soapy water and didnt tear the second one. after getting them on and lined up and squeegeed i used a hair dryer and kept using the squeegee too and mash the edges down while blowing with hair dryer. they lay down very good around edges of light from the heat of the dryer. i believe if i would have went ahead and ordered 2 sets i could have done perfect, but even the first set looks good enough to me and im very picky. worth the money and the look over stock if you just take ur time getting off paper and use hair dryer. also make sure its not very cold outside because it makes the tint more brittle.

    Smoked Tail Light Tint

    January 09, 2013

I'm VERY happy with the purchase of this product! It materials are very sturdy and the glue/tacking on the back side has made for a very nice snug fit! It looks good on the car and the brakes when light look almost like it isn't even there. I would recommend this product to anyone!!

    Not too dark, just right.

    June 07, 2011

Be sure to have a lot of soapy water! Wasn't difficult to apply if you are patient with it and continually spray soap and water to the light and really take your time to work out the bubbles. Looks good during the day, definitely noticeable. However at night it really looks great! Would buy again.

Okay, so would it be PERFECT to just have smoked lenses? Sure! But for very little money and even less time I have something that is 99% there. The cut of these vinyl pieces is THAT good. You typically have to be less than 3' from my lights to know that they are tint and not smoked lenses. Perfect amount of tint too, still get plenty of light. Breeze to install and they come with everything you'll need. My advice is to hit them with a blow dryer on low for a few minutes (NOT A HEAT GUN!!!) as they will likely come folded in shipping. Lay them flat on a table and warm them just slightly with the hair dryer to get them to lay flat. This will make your install much nicer.

    Tail Light Tint

    July 19, 2014

I had ordered light tint for all the lights on my mustang except the foglights and headlights. Everything went on smoothly except these. They simply don't have enough tint to cover the light. I have OCD a little and like knowing that anything I do to my car is perfect. This product made me unhappy and has really been the only time that I have been unsatisfied with a product from American Muscle. I got taillight tint when I had my 2005 mustang and it went very smoothly mostly because it was three pieces, not one. t is very hard to put on being that anyway you try to put it on leaves a different spot untinted. From far away it looks great, but the closer you get the worse it looks. Be safe and have a window tinting place tint the taillights for you.
