Description

Ideal Replacement. Your Mustang GT is a true musclecar in every sense of the word, but if you enjoy driving it hard, your clutch might not be able to handle all that power and torque. If your clutch is starting to slip, or you're starting to smell that signature "burning" smell, consider a SPEC clutch as a replacement. SPEC Clutches are the perfect choice that will improve your drivetrain's ability to handle power and perform reliably.



Daily Driver Friendly. This SPEC Stage 1 Clutch is designed for bolt-on naturally aspirated and mildly modified forced induction engines. It's best suited to 'Stangs that see daily driver duty and occasional track use, since it offers the most friendly pedal feel combined with SPEC's legendary durability.



Premium Quality. The SPEC Stage 1 Clutch offers all the features you need from a more powerful clutch with superior drivability. SPEC Stage 1 Clutches feature their signature high clamp pressure plate combined with a steel-backed and multi-compound woven organic material disc and high torque sprung hub. Like with all SPEC Clutches, a tool kit is included for easy installation.

This Spec Clutch requires the use of a Spec flywheel for proper engagement. AmericanMuscle highly recommends the Steel Flywheel for this Stage 1 Clutch for optimum results. See the drop down menu option above.

Technical Notes:

  • The 2005-2010 Mustang uses a concentric slave cylinder instead of a conventional throwout bearing.
  • Therefore this clutch kit will not include a throwout bearing.
  • It is recommended to install a new SPEC flywheel with this replacement clutch for the 2005-2010 Mustang GT. Look at our flywheel page for these 2005-2010 steel and aluminum flywheels.

    Spec stage one

    Great pedal feel and does grab realy hard when you launch. But after 2500 miles mine still chatters in 1st and 2nd. I bought the Spec billet steel fly wheel to go with it to. Im thinking the two are still breaking in, im hoping anyway. Much better than stock but the chatter is rough.

    New Spec Clutch

    Installation was normal. Break-in period was expected and normal. After 900 miles the pedal effort is very reasonable. The engagement quality is much better than the production Valeo unit. The damper tuning is "Universal" ,but not very good for an 08 production Mustang. All in all I am very satisified!!!! Wes Schultz 6/20/2010

    great clutch

    Good clutch very soft pedal compare to other manufacturers but will annoy you and slip for few hundered miles. Once broken in properly will do just fine

    I have only regular bolt'ons on my 06 mustang like chip intake electric water pump new crank shaft pulley and this clutch only lasted me 20k miles and that is all street driving never even took it to the track to see how it would do in the 1/4 times

    DO NOT BUY THIS CLUTCH

    This is by far the worst clutch I have ever head. Several thousand miles and it still chatters in first and reverse. This was installed by my brother in law who is a Ford Master Tech and the flywheel was machined by a reputable machine shop. I have even emailed Spec about it, at first I was told to give it more break in time (this was after 1500 miles), second email I was told to send them the clutch and the flywheel at MY expense. This is my daily driver, I cannot be without my car so I will have to deal with it for now until I can afford a better clutch. I will never buy anything Spec ever again.

    noisy at first, in reverse the chattering is a letil more than in 1st but is getting better with time , pedal is really better than stock, waiting for breaking in, any way its awesome.
