Man 1: The Pedders SportsRyder EziFit Spring & Shock Kit here will be for the 2005 to 2014 Mustang owners, looking for an easy to install turnkey suspension kit, to replace the tired factory components on your S197. Now, this kit will lower the car one inch on all four corners, which is gonna be pretty subtle compared to some of your other spring options currently in the category. The kit does include pre-assembled springs and struts up front along with the new shocks and springs for the rear and even extras, like the new strut mounts and bump stops all for the mid to high $600 mark. Now because these components have been pre-assembled, using a spring compressor is not necessary but because there is a fair amount of work here, we're still gonna call this a middle-of-the-road two out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter and a couple of hours or so to complete from start to finish. So even though Pedders might not be as established in the USA as other suspension brands, they have been a prominent player in Australia ever since the 50s, so by no means are they new to the suspension game. They do happen to make a wide variety of components for late model Mustangs along with some really, really nice coil overs with their extreme x8 options that, by the way, you can also find here on the site. However, the EziFit systems are designed with a slightly different purpose in mind and that is to be an affordable solution to lower the car and improve handling but with a focus on retaining a high level of ride quality and comfort. Now, aside from that, the "Ezi" in EziFit is in reference to the ease of install as we pointed out earlier, thanks to the guys at Pedders pre-assembling everything for you and believe me guys, it does make a big difference when it comes time to bolt everything up as we will show you here in a little bit. Now, a big reason for retaining the comfort factor here is by keeping that drop pretty minimal all around. Again, only one inch here guys which is extremely mild given your other options in the category such as those Eibach sport lines for instance. So, with that mind, don't exactly grab this kit if you're looking for that dumped or slammed look because you will be disappointed at the end day. However, if you do prefer ride quality and handling to stance, then this is certainly going to be a kit worth looking at.Now, as far as your components go, well, again, you are getting the two front struts, the two rear shocks, four springs and smaller things like your strut mounts which, again, are pre-installed for you and even brand new bump stops. Now the springs are linear. They are not progressive and do feature a 201-pound spring for the front and 186-pound spring for the rear. Now, those dampers do feature revised damping rates and have been matched specifically to the spring rate and drop of the springs. That's very important. This kit is very much designed to work together.Last but not least here guys, everything is going to be backed by a two-year warranty from the guys over at Pedders. But now we do wanna show you what it takes to get everything bolted up to your S197. So with that said, here is our detailed walkthrough as promised in addition to a quick tool breakdown.Man 2: Tools required for this job: 10-millimeter socket, 12-millimeter socket, 13-millimeter socket, 14, 15, 17, 18, lug wrench, 1/2-inch extension, 3/8-inch extension, pushpin removal tool, 1/2-inch impact, 3/8-inch impact. All right, today we're gonna be installing the Pedders SportsRyder EziFit suspension kit front and rear. Let's get started. All right, first step is to remove the wheel. All right, so after you get the wheel off, we need to take the brake caliper off of the rotor and that is gonna require a 12-millimeter socket. One on the top, one on the bottom. You wanna make sure you have a bungee cord or a caliper hanger bracket for this just to keep your...no tension on the brake line itself. Next we're gonna be taking off the speed sensor pushpin like that and then we're gonna be taking off the bracket for the brake line itself. You wanna make sure you save this hardware because you are gonna be reusing it. Next, we're gonna be removing the nut for the sway bar end link and that is an 18-millimeter. All right. So now that we're on top of the strut towers, with the hood open, you can see it's held on by four 13-millimeter nuts and we're gonna be loosening all of them but finger tight, the two closest to the panel. All right. So now that we have the top nuts on the strut tower loosened, there is a little bit of play so we can take our sway bar end link out and next, we're gonna be removing the bolts that attach the strut assembly to the spindle itself. All right, so we're gonna be using an 18-millimeter socket and be sure to keep your hardware for the new struts and let your spindle rest just like that. All right. So the next step is to remove those hand-tight nuts on the top of the strut. There's one there. There's one there. Now, with those removed, we can remove the stock strut assembly. All right. Now we're gonna be installing our Pedders strut assembly into the factory location and I have new hardware that I'm gonna hand-tighten.All right. Now we're gonna put our bolts into the spindle and strut assembly. I'm gonna start the one on the top, just feed it through and then we can bring the bottom towards us, put that right through. We're gonna be using the factory hardware and lock nuts and that is the same 18-millimeter socket we used before. And the torque values on these nuts and bolts are gonna be 148 foot-pounds. All right, now we're gonna be reinstalling our sway bar end link to the new strut using the factory hardware. All right, now that we're back on the top, we can lower our strut tower brace into position. All right. Now we're gonna be putting our brake line bracket back on using the factory hardware, which is a 10 millimeter bolt. Start my threads. Now, you can also put your pushpin for your wheel speed sensor back in. Next, we're gonna be moving on to our calipers and brake pads. So the next step is to reinstall your brake pads.If they were worn, ours aren't, it would be a great time to change those out. Take our hanger off, put it over the rotor and then reinstall your hardware. Good to go. All right, now you're gonna use your 12-millimeter socket to tighten up your caliper bolts. All right, that's gonna wrap it up for the front. Repeat these steps on the driver's side but let's head to the rear. All right. Now, moving to the rear, we're gonna remove both wheels. On this side as well as the driver's side, you have a 10-millimeter bolt holding a bracket on for your brake line and wheel speed sensor. We're gonna be removing this because we're gonna be dropping our axle a little bit and we don't wanna put any stress on these lines and let that hang just like that. All right. Now, moving into the trunk, we are going to peel back the carpet liner right here and reveal the top of our shock and the nut. We're gonna remove that with a 17-millimeter and you're gonna repeat that on the driver's side. All right. So now we are going to be removing the upper sway bar mounts and these are aftermarket so yours are gonna look a little different. All right. Now, with both sides loosened, we can pull our bolts and swing this out of the way. All right. So the next step is to remove your factory springs. I'm gonna pull down on this side of the rear and it should just pop out. Now be sure to save your factory rubber isolator. We're gonna be reusing that on our new springs. Now, moving over to the passenger side, same process. This one slipped out a little easier and save this for your new springs. All right. So the next step is to remove our 15-millimeter bolt that attaches our factory shock and you will be reusing this hardware. So this right here is an adjustable Panhard bar. When lowering your vehicle any height, it's really important to make sure your geometry is correct and you can pick up yours here at americanmuscle.com.All right, now we're gonna be installing our new springs. Make sure you have them positioned right just like that. Moving on to the passenger side, same process. Make sure it's sitting nice and level. All right, your shocks do come compressed on these little bands here. We're just gonna cut them. You gotta be pretty quick. You gotta remove this top hat and bushing and you're gonna save those for the inside of the trunk. As you can see, it's going up pretty slowly. We just wanna guide it into that hole. All right. Now we're gonna reinstall our factory hardware, and now you're gonna tighten this up with a 15-millimeter socket. All right, so it's the same process on the passenger side. We're gonna cut, remove this nut on the top and the top bushing. Save that for inside the trunk. All right, now we're gonna put our sway bar back into place. All right, we're gonna tighten these sway bar bolts back up.All right, next we're gonna be reattaching our brake line bracket and we're gonna be using our 10-millimeter bolt and then after that, we are going to install our wheels, set the vehicle back down to get some weight on these shocks and then we're gonna put the nut on top of that. And now, always remember to torque down your lug nuts. All right, now that we have the vehicle back on the ground, you can see that all of our threads are exposed. We're gonna be putting the bushing on there and threading on our nut, and you're gonna wanna squish this bushing down pretty good, just like that and you're gonna repeat that on the other side. All right, now you can put your panels back up. That's gonna wrap up my install of the SportsRyder EziFit strut and spring kit. For all things Mustang, keep it here at americanmuscle.com.
