Review & Install Video

Well, here it is, our new project car, and as you can see I use the term new very loosely, you Fox body folks have been asking for it, so we’re going to give you a build unlike anything we’ve ever done before, we’re going to do a complete restoration on o

Improves Horsepower. This SR Performance Cold Air Intake kit completely replaces the restrictive stock air box and paper filter element in your 1989-1993 5.0 mustang with a high flow filter assembly for a noticeable increase in horsepower and throttle response while filtering out harmful power robbing dust particles. This SR CAI pulls cooler denser air from inside the inner fender well to make more power that you can feel.

Reusable Filter. Included in this kit is a SR Performance High Flow reusable air filter. So no need to go out and buy a new filter every few thousand miles. Just clean the filter, re-oil it, save money, and go!

Powder Coated Finish. The SR Performance Cold Air Intake not only improves horsepower and acceleration, but it also improves your mustangs under hood appearance with a striking black powdered coated finish. Now you can have the best of both worlds, performance and style.

Simple Install. The SR Performance Cold Air Intake kit is relatively easy to install with only basic hand tools needed. No extra modifications are required for the installation. See the video below for an overview of the basic installation process.

Technical Note. The Mass Airflow Housing and Sensor are not included. This kit is designed to reuse the stock unit.

Is the cold air intake legal in California?

  • Hello! The SR Performance Black Cold Air Intake is not CARB legal.

I own a 88 foxbody 5.0. and I'm wanting install a SR Performance Intake on my vehicle, but I'm showing that it ONLY fits the "89-93" yrs. I see in the review that some people used this same intake on a 88 model and didn't have any trouble. Can someone validate for SURE that I can use this intake b/c I honestly don't like any of the other ones. Please provide some feedback.

  • Hello! It looks like some of our customer's were able to make this part work on pre 89 Mustangs with minor modification. However, we cannot guarantee it will work on anything other than 89-93 5.0 Mustangs

In the customer pictures there's a couple with a shiny black finish and there's a couple with a flat black finish...which one is it?

  • The finish of the cold air intake tube is flat black.

Will this fit a CA-spec 1988?

  • Hi, This SR Performance Black Cold Air Intake will fit a CA spec 88 fox body that is equipped with a mass airflow housing from the factory, But it is not CARB certified for use in states that use California Air Resources Board testing.

Just installed my cold air intake ,not sure how to install L bracket . It does not fit and I cannot not use original mounting screws ?

  • I didn't use L bracket either. I used the rubber mount screws that held my OEM intake.

    Cold Air Intake

Installed this in my 93 gt 5.0. Took awhile to get it to fit right. Not bad at all. Would have liked for the pipe that goes out of the throttle body to clear the shock tower. I had the rubber K and N and much easier to move around. Would have been much easier if I would have known to move the mass air flow unit and to have cleared the shock tower better. Much better than the stock!

    Don't bother

Shipped in a timely fashion and looked great in the box but when I tried to install the intake the tubes were to long and hit the shock tower making it impossible to fit. I am not impressed with the quality of the product. I should have bought a bbk.

I bought it and paid for faster shipping. I started to install it and soon found out that it doesn't fit my foxbody properly. It's supposed to curve into the fender but the tube and filter is too big to fit in the fenderwell. I'm going to have to do some cutting to make it fit.

    Lack of quality control

Ordered this for my sons birthday. He was very excited about it and couldn't wait to install it. We got the old air system off the car witch took a bit cuz the bolts we a bit rusted and wouldn't come loose. Started fitting the cold air system to the engine with the pipe from the throttle body to the mass air sensor. Pipe was too long on the throttle body side, had to measure mark and cut to get the right cut so the pipe would clear the shock tower. All in all it should have only took a half hour to install it, but ended up to be an hour and a half. Quality control of the product before shipping would have prevented this. Also no new bolts to secure heat shield to fender, something that should have been in the description. Not very happy with American Muscle! !!

    Not bad! different!

I have been looking for a cold air intake for my mustang for a bit. Did not want the typical chrome one that most have, so i went for this one as its blacked out. for looks the product delivers, it looks great! I would like to have seen better quality rubber material in the couplers, and the intake tube that connects to the throttle body to be a 1/4 to half inch bigger to support more horsepower. but for the price of the product? you cant beat it.

    Looks good under the hood

Wanted an intake that wasn't chrome and found this gloss black one. Really nice and matches my black 5.0. Gains are a noticeable. Hopefully when I get a tune I can get a lil more outa it. Good product tho. Took a while to put in. No instructions. But just looked at pics people posted and worked fine.

great alternative to more expensive cold airs

being made of aluminum this doesn't hold the heat that the chrome plated steel intakes do. this is very important for a cold air, and i definitely recommend this over many other cold airs

    Good quality product

Fit my 92 gt pretty good. I like the black powercoat has a texture finish which prevents scratches. Power gain probably like 5-8hp. Can't beat the low prices compared to other more popular name brands, it does the same thing. Good product

    decent cai

good kit over all clamps are a little annoying to work with and the couplers are cheap rubber powdercoat scratches easily if you have the egr equipped, the kit seems to interfere with the shocktower. didnt like the chrome bbk kit, the black look of this kit and the price drew me to it.

stack racing 5.0 cold air intake

Very easy to install in about 30 min. It looks nice the only thing I didnt like was the elbow coming out of the throttle body didn't line up right and it rubbed on the shock tower over all great intake for the cost

    Great product

I liked the product in and out the box. Installation was straight forward. However, instructions for serving aircleaner were not included. Performance is about the same as a K&N or BBK setup but much better looking.

    Stack Racing Cold Air Intake

I like the Stack Racing Cold Air Intake. Seems to function well and looks great. It was fairly easy to install, however there were no directions with it. I didn't know about the MAF relocation bracket until my tubes didn't line up. Once I figured that out, it worked out well.
